A great dive in the wreck of the Thistlegorm. All the material that was transported is still in the holds. Trucks, motorcycles, but also guns, boots, etc.

We leave Tonga and sail in the direction of North Minerva Reef, a beautiful coral atoll in the South Pacific. We finally arrive at South Minerva Reef after a detour due to weather conditions. Magnus uses the mooring balls from the Tuamotus on our anchor to stop it from getting caught up in the reef and we have a look around the atoll. Mavi gets a workout and flies over this amazing place which is in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Wendy has a snorkel in the crystal clear shallow waters. As we tried to leave Jakarta, something stopped us from being able to steer our sailboat, we couldn't move in reverse! What would YOU do? Butaritari in Kiribati is one of our Favorite Places in The World! Abaiang was great and it was so funny to meet all the kids, even though some of them probably thought we were scary ghosts. We loved it, but there was something about the atoll Butaritari that we can’t describe. It was stunningly beautiful, the snorkeling was amazing and it just felt so right. Each island of Cape Verde has it's own identity. Boavista Island is the "Desert Island". Its golden white sand beaches was flown over from the Sahara desert by winds of thousands years. And there, on the West side of the island is Cape Verde's little desert. Eventually it's time to go and we sail 40NM west on to Sao Nicolau island. A beautiful overnight sail in unique conditions. Also we desperately needed to order a new mainsail and install in before heading south to Grenada. We rent a car and drive 3 hours up to the El Yunque Rainforest and explore for the day. We hike, get muddy and cool off in the waterfalls. And FINALLY we received our new mainsail from Rolly Tasker. Now that its installed, nothing is stopping us from leaving Puerto Rico and heading south to Grenada before we really hit hurricane season. We left with the forecast calling for 20-25 knots, which is uncomfortable yet manageable. We knew we were in for a surprise when it hit 35 knots. It’s not uncommon to have a burst of wind at sunrise and sunset while sailing offshore. Nature is always seeking equilibrium. Our boat, a 41 foot catamaran, does well in most conditions. But there is a certain sea state when the waves are steep and the period short where it just simply struggles. Life is turned upside down inside. We grit our teeth and hope it’s over soon. When you weren't watching we were crashing a wedding in Moraira, close to Valencia. From there we picked the days that we wouldn't have to beat upwind in the direction of Gibraltar. A lot of sailing but it all turned out pretty well. On our way out we met Robbert and Luuke again on their Eight before refueling and another full day to Portugal.

So Wednesday morning as we were driving on the highway the right side passenger tire blew out. I had my two youngest children in the car and I was on my way to work. In Brunsbüttel hatten wir Hafenkino vom Feinsten, im Gieselau-Kanal haben wir die Schleuse besucht, durch den Obereider See haben wir eine kleine Rundfahrt unternommen und im Flemhuder See haben wir geankert, bevor wir aus der Kieler Förde bei schönstem Wetter heraus gesegelt sind.
