The Smoke finally clears and we spend a day exploring Lasqueti Island, a great destination for cruisers! The island lives totally off grid, with no building codes so you will find some very unique structures! Local farms provide stands that offer fresh fruit and veggies as well as homemade cookies. They work by the honor system, take what you need and leave money in the box for the items you took. After a short visit, we head to Hornby Island and anchor in Tribune Bay! One of favorite beaches in BC! The swimming is wonderful and so many trails to explore as well as mountain bike! Wish we could have stayed longer!! Definitely will be back again!! Hey Friends! We had the opportunity to review the newly amplified Oasis of the Seas only a couple weeks after the amplifications were competed. If you don't know us, we are a family of six with 4 children, ages 7 to 11. We've put together a few observations about the Boardwalk. Likes: - not too crowded - shady even on the hot days - lots to see - great area for kids: carousel, rock climbing walls, foosball tables, The Dog House hot dogs (our 7 year old's favorite place) Dislikes: - lots of temptations to spend money - arcade (costs money) - candy store (costs money) - beach shop (costs money) Sugar Beach The candy store on the newly amplified Oasis of the Seas is much bigger and has a better selection of candy. It features an area for cupcake classes that are available to reserve at a cost. It also has real ice cream (not the soft serve stuff that is free on the pool deck). Sugar Beach is a great incentive for kids if mom and dad want to do things that the kids don't want to do! Playmakers We're not big sports fans, but Playmakers is a nice addition to The Boardwalk. It replaces Sabor Tequila Bar and has just about every sports channel you can think of playing 24/7. There are plenty of tables/booths inside as well as tables outside for people-watching or perfect for having a drink while watching the kids play the arcade games or ride the carousel. If you have sports fans in your family (we sure do), then this is a perfect solution for them to be able to catch their favorite games while on the ship. The Ultimate Abyss The best thing about the Ultimate Abyss is that you don't have to get wet. As parents of four kids, we go to the pool a lot, but it's nice to do a quick run on the dry slide before dinner when we don't have to worry about drying off and changing. One of our kids was scare to ride so we would take turns at the bottom while the other kids ride. It's a 10 story drop from deck 16 down to deck 6 where the boardwalk is. Just take the elevator up to deck 16, go past the flowrider to the aft of the ship and ride the Ultimate Abyss down to deck 6. Some people were worried about the Ultimate Abyss blocking the view from the AquaTheater staterooms, but this is not the case at all. AquaTheater / Aqua80's Show I have to say... we LOVE 80's music! The Aqua80's show ROCKED! Such a dramatic improvement over the old aqua theater show! We loved it so much, we went twice. You have to experience it live. Photos and videos don't do it justice. We leave the Great Sandy Strait and begin the sail north to Airlie Beach. We have no engine, and the only forward propulsion that we have is with little Evi, Peanut’s outboard. We decide to head out to sea and go north, but there are constant northerlies and we spend much of the time going backwards. It’s not easy for us to simply pull in and wait for better weather, because we don’t have an engine, so we have to choose our anchorages very carefully to make sure that we can both get in, and get out again, safety. After days of northerlies, we pull in to Port Clinton for the night and wait for better weather. 'Windy' predicts a southerly front and we decide to utilise it to get home. We sailed to Jurassic Park! Well, it certainly felt like it as we began to explore our first stop in the Azores- Flores Island. Our new friend Felipe offers to take us ALL the way around the island in his Zodiac where we find massive caves, thousands of deadly jellyfish and the Westernmost point of Europe! After, we hop in a car and venture inland where we experience mother nature doing some of her finest work! It was unreal to experience all of this the first time around, but being able to go back through to footage and be blown away all over again by the beauty of Flores put a huge smile on our face :D We hope you feel the same! Out hot water heater (cholorifier) rots out, flooding the bilge with water. The bad part about this is that there were 750 liters of water in the holding tank that could continue siphoning. So now another repair project, costing money and time. It never ends. We also leave Naussa, Greece for Naxos. Beautiful sailing and as usual, wonderful Greek hospitality and food.

Anke und ich kehren Ende September nach Lanzarote zurück und segeln für eine Woche an der Küste von Fuerteventura. Zuerst segeln wir nach Gran Tarrajal, wo wir uns einen Mietwagen nehmen und uns auch ein wenig vom Landesinneren anschauen. Dann geht es über Puerto del Rosario zur Insel Lobos, wo wir einen Ankerstopp einlegen. Zum Abschluß machen wir in Corralejo fest. We left Bali and headed up Lombok Strait up north. 480NM journey zigzagging between fisherman’s boats, nets and fishing traps was no joke, but we did it again. Just to face shallow entry into Kumai, where we will take overnight tour aboard a power boat… Our intentions to meet orangutans in the wild - and we get tangled into drone drama… We lost our drone… in the jungles… We hire locals to take us search trying to find it but unsuccessfully. Drone drama aside we had very special experience in Tanjung Putting National Park - we visited 3 different camps: Camp Leakey, Pundok Tanggui and Tanjung Harpan. There we met hundred orangutans...
