It was quite hard getting hold of strong wifi here on Grenada to upload... but now here's what it's all about: “Hard-harder-Atlantic”, this is what our friends Lisa and Julius said after paying us a visit for a week. Together we explored the natural beauty of the Islas de Cies and learned more about their present shape. The Atlantic then showed its wild side again surprising us with heavy squalls with hail off the Portuguese coast. Viana do Castelo offered our old lady a sheltered berth in strong winds with the sky crying its heart out for over a week. Even though it was raining cats and dogs for days this didn’t keep us away from hiking to Santa Luzia and for the first time ever – going on a keel bank putting Thula on the dry during low tide. Our knees were shaking a bit... Ahoi and enjoy!

With our Sailing plans changing, we have returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! The adventure is just beginning as we plan to sail our Nandji around the world!! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We went on a cable car up the mountain...one way...and faced the dreadful long walk back, but with the help of the Toboggan guys, we halved that with a toboggan ride at breakneck speeds down the narrow streets of Funchal! #divingwithstingrays #diving We go to visit the Stingray city. What an amazing thing to see, the stingray are enormous and so friendly. We absolutely loved. Then we go to Camana Bay, the paradise heaven of the Cayman Islands. So beautiful, clean and organised. We were very sad to leave the Cayman Islands, our favourite island in the Caribbean. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. Hast du Lust auf einen etwas anderen Urlaub in Thailand? Wir sind der Meinung, dass Segeln in Thailand genau das ist! Beim Segeln in Thailand bewegen wir uns fernab der Touristenströme und entdecken Orte, die man ohne Yacht nicht erreichen kann. So waren wir zum Beispiel eine Nacht in der Maya Bay, wo auch der Film "The Beach" mit Leonardo DiCaprio gedreht wurde. Doch statt wie die anderen Touristen im Gedränge nur einen kurzen Blick auf diesen wahnsinnigen Strand zu erhaschen, haben wir den Tag mit Segeln verbracht und kamen erst dann an, wenn die Tagestouristen bereits heimgefahren sind. So konnten wir dort gemütlich den Anker werfen und hatten diese weltberühmte Bucht ganz für uns alleine! Und so ging es beim Segeln in Thailand auch weiter. Eine einsame Bucht jagte die Nächste und so konnten wir einen ganz entspannten Urlaub in Thailand genießen. Doch auch an Land gab es viel zu entdecken. Da wären die Emerald Cave, welche früher als Geheimversteck für Piratenschätze genutzt wurde oder die Why Not Bar mit Live-Musik und abgefahrener Feuershow. Oktober 2018. Vor uns liegen die letzten Tage in der Lagune hinter der Ilha da Culatra. Es heisst Abschied nehmen. Wir segeln weiter gen Osten. Tavira ist unser nächstes Ziel, eines der charmantesten Städtchen in der Algarve. Wir besuchen die Ilha de Tavira, eine der Sandinseln auf denen die Zeit stillzustehen scheint. Anschliessend geht es weiter, vorbei an Ayamonte den Rio Guadiana hoch bis Alcoutim. Hier findet das Guadiana Musikfestival statt, welches wir besuchen. Chegamos em Kourou com a missão de encontrar pessoas para nos ajudar a consertar nosso piloto e soldar nossa retranca. Logo que ancoramos já vimos que a estrutura não parecia animadora, apesar dos dois piers e da marina lá no fundo. Choveu. Ao descer vimos que ia ser bem difícil encontrar um centro Garmin, mas seguimos para um bar (lógico) onde tinha uma brasileira. Papo vai, papo vem, pensamos em ir para Cayenne que era maior. Tentamos alugar um carro, andamos horrores, pegamos carona com estranhos de biboca em bibocas de oficina até chegar nas oficinas dos foguetes. Sim! Kourou é base de lançamento de foguete, passamos entre a ida de uma oficina para a outra e nada do piloto ser resolvido. Nem na Nasa local! Enfim, quem arrumou foi o Fer do Strega mesmo! Saímos para comemorar no mesmo lugar de sempre, 999 Crepes, cerveja barata e internet rápida. Valeu a abastecida no mercado e as boas históroas pra contar!
