Bonus Episode: YACHT DELIVERY CHRONICLES : Kettenburg K40 Hello Friends, My dear friends Captain Dave Stovall and his wife Samantha (both of whom you may remember from the "Yacht Delivery Chronicles Season") Bought a 1961 Kettenburg K40 in Ventura California. This all wood boat is very beautiful but needs some love. The biggest problem we faced was the Grey Marine GAS engine. We hate gas engines on boats because they can easily turn the boat into a bomb. We were rushed by the broker to get the slip off of the private dock shortly after they gave him his money so we had to by pass the fuel tank that was full of bad fuel and use a small dinghy tank to get the boat to limp over to a transient slip. We returned to bring the boat home a few days later and the engine held on long enough to get us outside the breakwater at Ventura, which was all we really needed. Episode 136: Our electrical system has been bothering Ricky tremendously. Every time he opened it up, he'd sigh and say how he needed to redo it.. That day had come. Rewiring our electrical system. We disconnected our batteries, disassembled our buck boosts, inverter and buss bars and re-wired everything over again, neatening up the area and making everything easier to access. It's not done yet but almost complete... now we just need to find a place to put our dc to dc converter for our water maker. Lock Down has been getting to us a bit these last few weeks so we decided to go to the local farmers market down the block from us. It was definitely good for the soul to get out a bit.. but how we wish everything could just get back to normal already.. See ya next week!! On seeing a post through Facebook for bottle cap sorting, we meet Ocean Crusaders, a charity organisation that specialise in waterway cleaning on a large scale. Their entire campaign is run with a passion for the ocean having seen the issue our wildlife is facing first hand. Looking into the eyes of a dead turtle and wondering what killed it, to later find out it was plastics, drives their campaign to ensure that our oceans, waterways and beaches are clean and safe for all animals. This episode we spend a few days sorting bottle caps and see the successful outcome of this trial project.
