We are a family of four learning to live on our 39 ft sailboat with two kids, Bug the Chihuahua, Boaty the sinking lab, and Beans the cat. Life as we know it has been turned upside down so we decided to take off and explore via sail! Our living space has decreased in size from 2000 sq ft to 250 sq ft, the kids schools are going remote, and the cat is learning that the chihuahua is not a rat. We definitely have our hands full with this new lifestyle in tight quarters! Our little videos are made for family and friends old and new. The days have passed by and I got the chance to went out despite the busiest job that I have now. Being a seaman, sailor, seafarer, marine personnel, OFW one of the coolest jobs because of the privilege that you can travel all over the world for free. Then, maybe it's true that at the back of every struggle there's a reward awaits you. I took this video at Langkawi Malaysia and this place was beautiful, I and my friends took a walk in the city while enjoying the different scenery of the street. We had lunch at the fast-food restaurant and afterward, we went to the shopping mall and bought our favorite coffee and chocolates. The short fun has ended and we headed back to the ship and having a thought when will be the next ashore escapade? Hope you will like this video and kindly subscribe to this channel if you wish to know how the life of a seaman onboard the ship. Thank you.

Sailing, A SCARY NIGHT at Anchor A SCARY NIGHT at Anchor and a DIVE into HISTORY We anchor at Ollat Island where we are asked to help a medical team visiting from Majuro. Their ice packs are rapidly melting and the vaccines they are carrying are in danger of spoiling... We dive on a couple of wrecks that have a very famous history and snorkel with a beautiful Zebra shark . We then have a VERY scary night at anchor as a midnight squall swings us towards some shallow coral. Please subscribe to our channel if you enjoy these videos . We are Jo and Rob and we are here to share our sailing adventures with you. In 2016, inspired by the likes of ‘Delos’, ‘Sailing La Vagabonde’ and ‘Gone with The Wynns’, we sold up everything we owned and bought our 40ft, Fountaine Pajot ‘Lipari 41 Evo’ sailing catamaran ‘Double Trouble’. We had no sailing experience whatsoever, so the past few years have been a huge learning curve. We thought it might be fun to document our travels for anyone thinking of following a similar lifestyle. So far we have visited 7 different countries and sailed over 13,000 nautical miles. We have had many unique experiences that would not have been possible in our prior life and we don’t regret a second. We're both super keen on protecting our precious environment, so amongst other things, we both follow a plant based diet. You wont find any fishing footage on this channel! Ditching our BOAT for this: Are we moving into a SUPERYACHT? Our first idea for this year was to sail to Australia and few months before we leave Covid truck in French Polynesia, then we changed plans and decided to sail to New Zealand, a shorter sailing and maybe we could make it in time before cyclone season, but it was still uncertain if they would open borders or not so we decided to wait in French Polynesia till next season. As we settled into our new anchorage in St. Croix, we had time to do just 2 days of exploring and THEN we noticed a storm brewing off the coast of Africa heading our way. Invest 92L went from a small blip on the radar to a potential hurricane that was forecast to head straight toward us. After several hours of looking over weather and talking it through we decided to make a RUN for it. We saw an opportunity for a good weather window, so we were packing up and leaving the next day. This was our longest offshore we have done in over a year, since our run last year from Puerto Rico to Grenada, if you haven’t seen that episode yet, be sure to check it out: https://youtu.be/e6YCq4cz06Y. WE LEARNED A LOT from that trip. After that trip our families pitched in and got us an Iridium GO, so we would have tracking, communication and most importantly to us, WEATHER. Especially with a storm growing and heading our way, we would be able to have fair warning on if we needed to head in a different direction while out running this thing. We are grateful to everyone that has helped us out along the way, especially thankful for our families for giving us such a great gift of a peace of mind as we watch this storm head toward us as we sail into the open sea. big love, beau, brandy, and our salty dog, oona #sailboatlife #sailingoffshore #hurricaneseason --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -HELP SUPPORT THE PRODUCTION- Join our Patreon: http://bit.ly/BB-Patreon One time Donation: http://bit.ly/one-time-donation-bb Be sure you are Subscribed: https://www.youtube.com/c/sailingsaoirse -GRAB YOUR SWAG- https://www.bonfire.com/store/beau-and-brandy-sailing/ -MUSIC- Epidemic Sound is where we find all of our music. 30 day free trial: https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/mxtzxe/ -LETS BE SOCIAL- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/beauandbrandy Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingsaoirse -OUR GEAR WE- main camera: https://amzn.to/2lm2bSY go pro camera: https://amzn.to/2JMXRoa backup camera: https://amzn.to/2l8e3ry electric setup*: controller: https://amzn.to/2lm7hP7 panels: https://amzn.to/2jUoONN electric motor: https://amzn.to/2ZnLfvN motor controller: https://amzn.to/3getpSw ____________________________________ *This channel is a participant in the Amazon Affiliate Program. The sword fishing boats in the Messina strait have to be seen to be believed, with a 30 meter high tower and an even longer bow sprit both with men perched precariously at the ends you get the feeling fact is stranger than fiction. And to get to the Messina strait we sailed through Sicily and its volcanic islands so we had already run the gauntlet of the large floating rocks. I kid you not, rocks the size of our table that would take lumps out of the gel coat floating in the ocean. The strangeness of pumice. We cover a lot of ground in this episode, sailing from Sardinia to Sicily and is amazing Aeolian Islands, then on the Italy. Great food, great scenery, really good sailing!. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PATREON: There is a way to see the current videos with no adds at all before they get released to the public by becoming an honorary member of crew and joining our Patreon group. Over the last few months, we have had time to reflect on our journey thus far and it has been a great time to remember the places we have visited and the people we have met along the way. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us... We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Hey all, welcome back for more of the adventure! This is it! This is the week Jade finally gets to see what we've been dreaming of and working towards for so long! We are so excited to share a (somewhat haphazard) tour of our live aboard sailing yacht (is it still a sailing yacht if it doesn't have a mast!?) - A 2008 Beneteau 49 - This is our first time seeing our new boat in any depth - and we couldn't be more happy about it. It's quite the tiny house upgrade from our 24 foot Skoolie and more luxury than I think we ever planned on - it has a fridge and a freezer, a water heater...and even air conditioning!! With that said, it's going to be quite the project just getting her seaworthy, let alone ready to circumnavigate...you should see the repairs list forming already! And all that's before upgrades...solar panels, dinghy davits, solar arch, water maker, lithium batteries? washing machine?! We'll see what ends up making it in and what doesn't...only the budget (and our minimalists desire) will tell! Honestly, it's pretty overwhelming at this point...one project at a time and eventually the refit will be complete... and the constant repairs begin 😂 Thanks for watching- With love The Evans' **************************************** *Our Boat* 2008 Beneteau 49 3 cabin 2 head 4JH4-TE Westerbeke generator Mast, sails and rig are in excellent condition and in storage Here's what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. Our consulting clients have been coming up with some great questions and in the spirit of sharing the love (and information), we put together five lists of five things to consider if you are in the market for a cruising boat. From what to watch out for in the survey to why a used boat makes more sense, to what easy upgrades we would suggest, it's all here in a fun little package. And at the end, a bonus! A quick tour of a True North 38 powerboat. Pretty sweet. If you have got too comfortable swimming with the current or feel that your stuck in a rut, then have we got the show for you. Here we look at How bluewater sailing can change your life Rob has returned to New Caledonia after two weeks in New Zealand and he's got company. This week we welcome Keith, Rob’s cousin, and his youngest daughter Brooke, to the boat. Brooke brings a cold with her, for which Rob has the perfect herbal remedy and Keith brings a healthy dose of philosophy, brought on by this sailing life. Keith gets to thinking about whether people get too comfortable going with the flow and whether it is time to consider other options. Keith has also arrived with a healthy appetite. If he’s not tucking into a plate of plankton omelette with Rob, then he’s enjoying a piece of hemp chocolate in his pursuit for happiness. It’s gotta be good for you. Music Luna Keller – I don’t know where I’m going Lone Waves – We can run away -Musicbed JJ Heller – Save me – Musicbed Kylie Odette – Only gets better - Musicbed David Mumford – Ball and Chain – Creative Commons Music WHO ARE WE? In 1997, after a disastrous Olympic rowing campaign, Rob decided to row a seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014, we invested in Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Robert's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with our three children, Finn 17, Declan 15 and Ivan 12, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world, meet the locals and record our adventures. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill Never stop wandering, never stop wondering. #TheCruisingKiwis

Jupiter² sails across the Mozambique channel to Richards Bay, South Africa. And its that time of year again. Haul Out. And this one was a bit longer than planned. But it wasn't all hard work. We made time for play. This episode is dedicated to our dear departed friend, Patrick Childress.... Here in Richards Bay we became neighbors and friends... which continued when we were in Capetown. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.

After a wonderful few days at Fitzroy Reef we start making a dash north to find warmer weather. We head to Great Keppel Island, Middle Percy Island, Digby Island where we find a shipwrecked boat, and then on to Mackay.
