Meanwhile, we tackled some boat chores: Steve sanded rust off the emergency tiller head and gave it a fresh cold zinc coating. That man and his pole... Karen swears he's just showing off. 😏 We're still stripping (wood, people—get your mind out of the bilge), revealing even more of our beautiful African Mahogany. Messy, but worth it! The dinghy? Oh boy. We left it in the water too long and it turned into an oyster nursery. Baby oysters everywhere—and yep, they squirt. Karen got squirted all over and had to swap her bikini for something more… splash-resistant. She may never drink boba tea again. 😂 The dinghy got a full Brazilian (you’ll see what we mean), and Steve may or may not have outed Karen’s "bald kitty." Don’t worry—it’s all in good fun. We experienced one of our most terrifying sails, the night our engine failed and left us powerless in strong currents and bad weather while sailing past the Channel Islands, heading for Lézardrieux. Far from land and in the dark, we made a PAN-PAN call on the VHF to the French sea rescue. With six knots of current against us and no engine, we couldn’t make it on our own and had to be towed into the marina. In this video, we sit down and share what happened that night and why our engine overheated so we couldn’t use it. We had just had the heat exchanger serviced and replaced when we bought the boat in Flensburg, Germany, only a month earlier. But somehow, they put back a damaged one with a hole in it, which caused all our cooling water to leak out... We also learned a lot from this experience, especially not to head out with such a small margin like we did that day. 🌊 Sailing the Whitsundays | Snorkelling Manta Bay, Hiking Whitsunday Peak & Fishing Adventures! In this episode, we look the tender to Manta Bay to snorkel among the stunning coral gardens and the incredible underwater manta ray sculptures. The water was crystal clear and full of life — an underwater paradise! 🐠💙 Next, we set sail for Sid Harbour, where we spent a few unforgettable days exploring this breathtaking part of the Whitsundays. We hiked to the Whitsunday Peak, the tallest point in the islands at 437 metres. It was a tough 3-hour return trek (with a well-earned rest at the top!) but absolutely worth every step for those jaw-dropping views. ⛰️✨ During our stay, we explored Lady Island and the surrounding beaches — each one more beautiful than the last. Finally, we made our way to Gulnare Inlet to try our luck crabbing again. While the crabs weren’t biting, we still managed to catch two fish, so dinner was served! 🎣🐟 Join us on this journey through the Whitsunday Islands — full of adventure, beauty, and a few surprises along the way. On avait un plan : quitter le lagon d'Apataki pour rejoindre le mythique atoll de Rangiroa. Mais en voilier, le vrai patron, c'est la météo ! 🌬️ Récit d'une navigation pleine d'imprévus au cœur des Tuamotu (Polynésie française), qui nous forcera à changer de cap pour un atoll isolé et chargé d'histoire.
