A realidade de quanto custa reformar um veleiro é a totalidade de todas as reformas que aconteceram no país, cada caso, cada jeito de fazer, em cada cantinho do mundo ou do país, e é impossível de ter os dados e mesmo que tivéssemos é difícil de ler tudo ou conseguir tirar algo de útil dali. A verdade é um angulo, uma foto, uma tabela, um sensor, uma frase sobre a realidade, por isso é possível ter várias verdades sobre uma mesma realidade. O que eu postei no Youtube nesta semana eu tenho certeza de que vai ser útil pra muita gente, já está sendo, mas é preciso não levar como uma única verdade possível, a única forma de se fazer uma reforma, e que se você vai comprar um barco necessariamente vai gastar isso. ► The Annapolis Boat Shows are in fact two separate shows: the Powerboat Show, dedicated to motorboats, was this year held from October 2 to 5, followed by the Sailboat Show from October 9 to 12. Both shows take place at Annapolis, at the top end of Chesapeake Bay, the largest estuary in the United States. It’s only 30-odd miles (50 km) to Washington, D.C., which makes these boat shows major events. We went along to the Sailboat Show for you, which featured the world premiere of the HH52, the Island Spirit 525e, and the Seaview 60. We’d been hoping to see the Xquisite 54 E-Plus, but it apparently missed its cargo ship. American premieres included, from smallest to largest, the Dragonfly 36, the Lagoon 38, the Excess 13, the FP41, the FP44, the Bali 5.2, the Leopard 52, and finally the Balance 580. In mid-November, we set sail to cross the Bay of Biscay, a passage most sailors avoid that late in the year. It’s known for vicious storms and unpredictable weather, a real challenge for anyone sailing across Biscay. We expected the best but prepared for the worst, before leaving Camaret-sur-Mer for A Coruña. Zoé, our long-keel ocean cruiser, proved herself once again, covering the Bay in just 68 hours, flying fast with only the mizzen and genoa. Our friend Jaime joined us for this leg, always ready for a challenging sail and everything that comes with it.
