The small islet of Peristera, which is part of Alonissos (the Sporades island group), has a shipwreck that is partly underwater and partly visible above the surface. We went there, jumped into the crystal-clear water with our snorkeling gear, and saw the ship underwater using our GoPro. Lots of fish and rusted parts. We found it a fascinating sight! And with the drone, we had an even better view of the shipwreck.

Baja California’s Magdalena Bay is home to some of the most incredible animals in the ocean. The warm waters and upwelling bring in huge amounts of baitfish that in turn are hunted by striped marlin, California sea lions, dolphins, whales, and sometimes even sharks. While the main focus of the trip is bait balls of sardines and mackerel and the animals predating on them, we can also encounter many other migrating species, such as Humpback whales, schooling mobula rays, and possibly other surprise guests!

All five of us are now one full week into our Atlantic crossing. We made some pretty serious mistakes in the video. Could have been worse, a LOT worse. No need to point out all our faults in the comments, how bad things could have gone haunt me already. Sad to have lost a cushion but so grateful that's all that was lost. Could have been a finger, hand, foot..head. Seven days at sea. One whole week. And we still have an estimated 12 days to go before we reach the other side, where Ayanna’s newly purchased boat is waiting for her. Event hosts Lourenço and Luisa take us around the boat park and Vilamoura Marina, where sailors were out on the water today for their practice races. We also go behind the scenes to see how the event comes together—from the livestream setup and broadcast van to hearing from the team running the championship. We learn how the tracking system works, with tracking available for every class, every day. Even when a class isn’t live streamed, fans, coaches, and sailors can still follow the racing and later analyze performance and data. On longe la côte portugaise dans une fenêtre météo parfaite pour passer le cap Saint-Vincent, mais la tête reste toujours en alerte. Chaque aileron qu’on aperçoit nous fait sursauter. Ce qui ressemblait à une orque s’est finalement révélé être une baleine… mais le cœur nous a arrêté deux secondes. Avec toutes les notifications d’attaques qui tombent, la navigation est belle et stressante à la fois. On arrive à Cascais avec une extinction de voix, épuisés, juste avant que le vent se lève fort. No fun as the temperatures are beginning to drop. Low and behold, for the aft unit, it was a fish that had been sucked up into the hose feeding the strainer preventing needed water flow. How big of a fish? Check it out in the video around the 7:00 mark. Now, we’re nice and toasty. Steve finished the rear sail locker stairs that he started making in the previous video. They made it so much easier getting into and out of that sail locker. Even Karen can pop out of the locker easily. We address some of y’all’s comments/questions from previous episodes.
