This week we look more into the construction of a production boat compared to a hand built boat. It was also interesting to learn what parts need to be ground down and what access holes need to be cut away. I also have some projects in mind, one of them being a bigger bilge pump and some cables also need running. The keel bolts are looking good so I don’t think they need replacing. So far so good.

In a comment Roberto asked how his 187cm height would fit inside a Garcia Exploration 45. Now we’re not suggesting his head looks like three cork coasters and a peg bag, but that’s the best we could find to simulate a gentleman of his proportions. Please note that heads are normally round at the top, not square like Hermann Munster (try Google images), but if you do look like this Roberto, you could be in the movies! 🙂 Also note that we’ve watched gentlemen as tall as 190cm move around inside this boat with complete ease. One of Garcia’s sales reps is even taller - ask for his thoughts. 🙂 We’ve quickly measured some actual ceiling heights: - front cabin at base of bed: 183.5cm - front heads compartment: 178.5cm - third step down from galley going forward, next to freezer: 183cm - top of stairs at corner of nav station: 188.5cm - bottom of companion way stairs to grab handle: 196.5cm - aft cabin doorway: 178cm - aft cabin standing area: 201.5cm - aft heads doorway: 189cm - aft heads compartment: 192cm - tech room door: 144cm. Ouch! Be careful. - tech room: 147cm - aft heads shower, Comfort Version: 196.5cm - center of galley: 193cm - stepping up to saloon table: 169cm The length of the front cabin mattresses is 198cm. It’s the same for the aft cabin mattresses. The saloon sofa can make a sleeping position that is 228cm long. Please let me know if there’s other measurements you’d like. Regards, Rick.

It's not all about Sailing it's also about the fantastic place South Australia has to offer as we go Water Skiing on the Murray River at Wellington.
In this episode we go skiing at Wellington to get a break from the boat yard and enjoy what South Australia has to offer.
It is amazing how many beautiful sights you get to see just driving thru Lofoten, so I could not resist filming while driving. Naturally I also made a few stops along the way and got to see some stunning views and taste the local cousine. Let me tell you, if you ever go to Lofoten you need to try the local fish soup! And what about something that reminds us of a tropical beach in the arctic as I show you Ramberg beach. Probably the most beautiful beach you would never swim. This is my travelogue of Sindh which consists of five days. On this journey I found Sindh very beautiful. Wall of pakistan The irony is that the majority of people living in Pakistan are also unaware that there is a wall in Sindh like the Great Wall of China that protects Rani Kot. Thus, the history of Sindh is spread over thousands of years, which has been acknowledged by world renowned historians and researchers. The Mohenjo-daro, Kot DJ's Fort, Rani Kot and Mukli graveyards in Sindh bear witness to the fact that the history of Sindh is thousands of years old but due to lack of protection of its precious heritage, Sindh On the verge Historically, Sindh is also considered as one of the oldest civilizations in the world known as 'Indus Civilization'. And for the past several years, traces of the world's oldest history have been rapidly deteriorating. From Mohenjo-daro to Kot DJ and Umerkot forts, from Hyderabad's Lal Fort to Karachi's Chokundi cemetery, the condition of antiquities is dilapidated. Although the Sindh Department of Antiquities and Culture has recently begun work on the restoration of some historical sites and monuments with foreign assistance, many sites are still awaiting restoration. Among the places being restored or being looked after by the Sindh government is the historic 'Rani Kot', which some historians consider to be the largest fort in the world. Although international and national experts have not unanimously agreed that Rani Kot is the largest fort in the world, most experts agree that it is the largest fort in the world. As soon as they reach the main gate of the fort, the tourists get lost in the magic Rani Kot is spread over an area of 32 km. The differences and consensus of the experts have their place but the irony is that the majority of the people living in Pakistan are also unaware that there is a wall in Sindh like the Great Wall of China which protects Rani Kot. Rani Kot, also known as the 'Great Wall of Sindh', is located in the mountainous desert of Jamshoro District, about 300 km from Karachi, about 120 km below the city of Jamshoro, near the small town of Sun. #sindhvisit #sindhculture #sindhiajrak #ranikot #rkglobal #abbaslashari For contact: R.K Global Elahi Center, Jinnah Park, Sheikhupura rkglobal.pk@gmail.com Thailand, Phillipine, Malaysia, Indonesia Trip (𝟬6 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘀): ▶️ Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... FULL REFIT SAILBOAT: we are almost done with our sailboat project - a full refit sailing yacht. But oh my, these Lithium Batteries & navigational instruments are quite a challenge, especially if you try to let it work with old systems. The Exuma Cays have 365 islands and it can be overwhelming when trying to plan where to visit without missing some of the must-sees. We would have loved to have been able to stop at every island, but stopped at select cays and anchorages in the northern Exumas. This time we washed the cockpit, danced, changed the oil, and tried to figure out how or why boats are abandoned. Drank wine, looked at some stars and the Wolf Moon. Had some trouble pumping the oil out of the Yanmar 4JH2E engine on our Catalina 42. The trusty electric pump died so we replaced it with a manual LiquiVac Oil Extractor. #288 Do we have our baby in Antigua? The Bahamas? Do we try to get home to Australia and pay the crazy expenses of up to $18,000 with no guarantee of getting back to the boat? We don't tend to lock a lot of things into the calendar but going back to Australia once per year to surround ourselves with close friends and family has been a really important thing for us. Home sickness is definitely a thing - for us anyway. Having said all that, this is a global pandemic and it's effecting everyone in different ways. We're still very fortunate and can't complain. We've been doing some research and hopefully will have something worked out in the next month or so. Wish us luck! Thanks to our amazing featured music artists for supporting the show! After a very easy overnight sail we are rewarded by seeing waves breaking on the outer reefs. We meander through but there is a problem... we have to stop. I recall its been more than 2 months since I have eaten fresh fish so in I go to see what there is to offer... Cuba does not disappoint people. Afterwards we head to a safe anchorage at a place called Cayo Campos. We are immediately invited over for dinner by the locals. They are having turtle which Margarida has never had before so she is keen to try it. Cayo Campos we are here to stay! Give it a thumbs up if you liked this episode! We have our scariest moment yet, and of course it's at night. We pride ourselves on being responsible sailors (keeping our family safe), but here we got "caught with our pants down and our spinnaker up" in a gale. While the boat was probably just fine, we lost control and could not reduce sail area. Losing that control is very scary when your family is on board and you don't know what the storm will throw at you next. Often it's the sailors that break before the boats do - and such was the case here. Still, it's terrifying. If anything, we have more faith in our boat than before - and maybe a little more belief in ourselves as well... ----------------- POSTING LIVE UPDATES ON SOCIAL: https://www.instagram.com/the_sailing_family/ https://www.facebook.com/the-sailing-family-voyage/ ----------------- ABOUT US: We are a family of five sailing around the world on our "dream boat," a performance catamaran named "Archer." Ten years ago, before kids, we sailed a Lagoon 380 named "Honeymoon" halfway around the world to Sydney, Australia. Along the way we shared our experiences with family and friends via YouTube, and by happenstance created one of the earliest sailing channels still posting. We also realized what an incredible experience we were having and that someday we wanted to do it again, only this time with our kids. OUR BOAT is a Ferrari red Outremer 51 performance cruising catamaran. We chose this boat as it has been specifically designed for the purpose of bluewater sailing. It was designed and built to withstand the stress of "sailing multiple times around the world safely and in comfort." And yes, she's nice on the eyes too. OUR ROUTE has taken us from the Boston/Cape Cod area of the United States down to the Caribbean and then through the Panama Canal. At the time of posting this we have dealt with the Coronavirus lock down in New Zealand, a category 5 Cyclone in Fiji, and are now cruising again in Covid Free Australia. PLEASE COMMENT!: As a "family channel," we are required to actively monitor all comments, but we still want to hear from you. Tell us what you think! THANKS for watching all. Subscribe now and never miss an episode!

Come barefoot with us again as we find out more about Bimini and sail our Leopard 50 across the Grand Bahama Banks to Chub Cay in 20-30 knot winds. The Leopard 50 handles it all easily with comfort and pace despite unpleasant weather and rain squalls. Find out about the man eating sharks that you can swim with and feed, if you are brave enough.... They are incredible experiences you can have if you have the courage!
This episode we visit the 2 waterfalls we ran out of time to see on our Atherton Tablelands trip. We explore Josephine Falls, and then the Babinda Boulders. We then take a train ride up the Kuranda Scenic Railway and return on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway that stretches 7.5 kilometres (4.7 miles) between Smithfield (Cairns) and Kuranda. There are 32 towers in total and the highest tower stands 40.5 metres (133 feet) high. We finish our activities in Cairns by White Water Rafting down the Barron River.
We spent a few weeks recharging in Annapolis, stocking up on materials for the boat, and spending time with family before continuing our sail south. After a bumpy passage down the Chesapeake Bay, we officially enter the Intercoastal Waterways, but we don't get far before engine troubles slow us down... Enjoy seeing us get out of a few pinches that could have ended really poorly... ~Nov 15th - Dec 5th ~ MUSIC: The music we use is from EPIDEMIC SOUND, which gives you access and rights to use a massive library of music and sound effects!
