It coincides with the Greek Orthodox Church’s celebration of the Annunciation to the Theotokos, when the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would bear the son of God. Greek Independence Day is celebrated on Thursday, March 25, 2021. Greece had been part of the Ottoman Empire since 1453. The Greek revolt was precipitated on March 25, 1821, when Bishop Germanos of Patras raised the flag of revolution over the Monastery of Agia Lavra in the Peloponnese. The cry “Freedom or death” became the motto of the revolution. The Greeks experienced early successes on the battlefield, including the capture of Athens in June 1822, but infighting ensued. By 1827 Athens and most of the Greek isles had been recaptured by the Turks. Just as the revolution appeared to be on the verge of failure, Great Britain, France, and Russia intervened in the conflict. The Greek struggle had elicited strong sympathy in Europe, and many leading intellectuals had promoted the Greek cause, including the English poet Lord Byron. At the naval Battle of Navarino, the combined British, French, and Russian forces destroyed an Ottoman-Egyptian fleet. It's crazy what can happen in one day on a boat. So much adventure, so much fun and memories. We came out to do some boat jobs but quickly became bored and decided to do a bit of spear fishing. Next minute we are having fun with big sharks and cooking up a great feed. We love this life style for bring up our family and wouldn't change a thing! The countdown to Fiji is on!

We leave Bimini and cross the Great Bahama Bank, anchoring on the eastern side for the night. We then spend two nights in Chub Cay, two nights behind Muma Rhonda Rock before heading up into the Berry Islands, past Frazer's Hog Cay over to Whale Cay. We finally get a weather window and finally get to fly the code zero to Nassau.

For best results in synchronizing make sure you make a distinct manoeuvre at the very beginning of your sailing session (i.e. a jibe (as here) or a tack). The result is perfect for my needs. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

We are in the middle of Cyclone season and we need to move the boat. As we debate where to go, we share a few rescue stories from the Carenage, provision for the passage, plead for the sun to come out, get kicked off a wave in Huahine, show you how to exercise while living aboard and how we celebrate Christmas on a boat! Christmas on a boat is usually quite hard to pull off, but since we had just flown in from the states we could bring presents from our extended family with us. We did forget to bring stockings though, so orange tube socks had to work! Best Christmas ever? Maybe! Regarding surfing in Huahine, unfortunately it seems the "Black Shorts" type of attitude from Hawaii has come to this island and some locals do not want outsiders surfing here. Having surfed throughout French Polynesia, this was a new experience for us, as usually the locals paddle up and give you a hand slap, formally welcoming you to the wave. As Seth surfed by himself in Huahine (taking the waves from no-one), a local charged him with his boat in the take off zone. Ironically, by expelling Seth from the wave, it will probably just draw more attention to this surf spot. Either way, there are a lot of great places to surf that are more inviting, so let's get outta here! Goodbye French Polynesia. It's been interesting... We head to Fore and Aft Reef where we weave our way south along the reef in perfect glassy water conditions. Heading to Centipede Reef we hook a beautiful Yellowfin Tuna that gives Jess a good fight, before we have a cook up on the BBQ with some delicious fresh tuna nuggets in panko crumbs. We finally make our way to Stanley Reef where we make our way from the north to the south of the reef following a natural channel. Getting our scuba gear out, we dive a chasm formation where we find a massive groper that follows us along for our dive. Hoje o dia início incrível, fiz a 5ª aula de vela! Fui ao sítio dos meus sogros. Porém um notícia triste me abalou! Um amigo que conheci através do Poker e atualmente era meu colega de trabalho, não resistiu às complicações do covid. E veio a falece! Sempre é difícil aceitar a morte.
