WE GOT TO 18 KNOTS!!! wwooooooo! Under time pressure to get Red Jacket to Yamba, we leave in the early hours of the morning and head out into 30 knots. With just 2 reefs in the main, that is all Red needed to get going off waves. We hooned down sizable seas and sat in the pouring rain. And well we just thought what a great week to get Nakama out too! This time leaving in the late hours of the night into no wind and ugly seas that have been leftover from earlier in the week. Je vous propose de me suivre pour une nuit de camping sous tente chaude en forêt. Dans les faits, il s'agit de ma deuxième expérience réelle en terrain forestier. Je me suis d'abord familiarisé avec mon matériel dans la cour, puis dans un petit boisé tout près avant de m'aventurer plus loin dans les bois. Je raconte, dans cette vidéo, mon petit périple plutôt simple, mais bien planifié en vous présentant les images que j'ai pu capter et en fournissant quelques informations me venant en tête. Le bois utilitsé a été tronçonné et fendu à la maison avant d'être acheminé sur le site. Je ne voulais pas risquer de ne pas avoir le temps de le faire la journée de l'expédition. C'était donc par mesure de sécurité. Une autre occasion me permettra probablement d'utiliser les ressources de la forêt directement sur le site. Les aliments consommés, mise à part le mélange de gruyau provenant du commerce, ont été préparés plusieurs semaines à l'avance à l'aide d'un déshydrateur. J'aime la soupe épicée l'hiver, car elle procure une belle chaleur corporelle intérieure. E10: After a stressful 3 days in Manila, we finally arrive in Thailand and are now only 15 days away from getting to our sailing catamaran, Matahom. Our ASQ experience was actually kind of a relaxing break from life. You cannot really do much in quarantine so just relaxing, chilling out and catching up on some work and workouts is a welcome escape from it all. Thailand has done an amazing job with Covid and with their ASQ program to allow foreign visitors into their country. They are amongst the leading nations dealing with the pandemic and have one of the lowest mortality rates in the world. We feel very fortunate to be able to stay in Thailand and to get to our boat finally. Thanks for watching and we hope you enjoy following our journey!

What have I gotten myself into? I recently purchased this 1977 repco lobster boat from a friend in Maine. My plan is to return this old boat to its original glory, as it was manufactured in the late 70's. This will be a long series on this channel and I invite you to join me on this journey. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So we decided to purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside the boat, we made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom. After stopping at Toau's False Pass, we go ashore to pay for the buoy and look around a bit on the moto. The mountains of garbage are once again extremely dissapointing. We leave westwards for Rangiroa, the second largest atoll in the world and are greeted again by our bird friends and explore the local underwater world. This is the first video in the Building a Balance 482 Catamaran series. Here you will follow the build of the first Balance 482 Catamaran from tooling to launch and sea trials of hull #1. This video shows the first stages of the hull mold and deck plug construction up to the demolding of the hull and mocking up the layout.The hull mold is constructed using thousands of CNC-cut shutter ply frames and meranti stringers. This framework is then cladded with weather-proof ply and faired until smooth. The same process is then applied to the deck plug, from which the deck mold is manufactured using E-Glass and resins with structural reinforcement behind it. The Balance 482 hull is laminated in one piece without the need for additional joining laminates and tabbing, which helps to save weight . The structural PVC foam core material is thermo formed and vacuum bagged to assist with further weight savings and to provide structural integrity to this performance sailing catamaran. Furthermore, all bulkheads are properly tabbed in and we use carbon fiber in high-load areas for extra stiffness and strength. All the structural detailing and design is done by our partner, Du Toit Yacht Design, using state-of-the art software which includes Catia.
