Journey with us onboard the beautiful Mermaid II Liveaboard to the reefs of Raja Ampat, Halmahera, and the critter capital of the world-Lembeh Strait in North Sulawesi. This 11 night snorkeling safari has been created exclusively for snorkelers – meaning no pesky divers on board. Aboard Mermaid II, a 110 foot luxury snorkel and dive vessel we will have the freedom to travel in comfort to the best snorkeling sites in Raja Ampat, Halmahera, and Lembeh. The focus of this unique trip will be Halmahera, but because the most convenient starting point for this itinerary is in Sorong-the port to Raja Ampat, we will of course be spending a few days snorkeling in this chart-topping location. In Raja we'll explore manta aggregation areas, some of the world's most pristine reefs which are full of fish, and with a bit of luck we'll be able to get in the water with a whale shark or two! Halmahera is one of the final frontiers for snorkeling in Indonesia. The area is largely untouched by tourism as liveaboards have only just recently started to explore the area, and as a result you can expect stunning reefs in pristine condition packed full of life. Not to mention the unreal topside scenery where volcanoes and tiny islands jut up from the turquoise waters. The final day of the tour will take place in Lembeh Straight where the type of snorkeling will shift slightly as we scour the reefs for some of the most unique marine critters in the world. Here we'll be focusing on finding things like multiple species of frogfish, leaf scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and with a bit of luck some seahorses.

In the end, the successful defence of the America’s Cup didn’t come as a surprise. As the last few races played out it became increasingly clear that the home team had a much faster boat. What did come as a shock was the talk of what might happen next for the Cup. When the official statement was released by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (Defenders) and the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes (Challenger of Record) there were plenty of raised eyebrows. Matt Sheahan matches rumour to fact to assess what might happen next for the America’s Cup and whether the trophy that started life in the Solent 170 years ago really could be run in the UK next time around. Plus, setting a blistering, record breaking pace around the old Fastnet course, the view from onboard the MOD70 trimaran Powerplay. INEOS Team UK crewmember and seasoned Cup campaigner Freddie Carr and Matt Sheahan catch up to consider where the new Cup boats take us and what the event and the boats might do for the sailing scene. And, if you thought you had it tough pounding upwind, here’s what some people paid good money to do back in the 1990s when they signed up for the BT Global Challenge. – It’s unlikely that this cut would have ever made it onto the official recruitment video, but it makes for a great watch now while helping to convince us that perhaps our toughest windward slogs weren't so bad after all. Plus, two bumper helpings of Docktalk which feature some especially cool kit and new machines. In this episode: 00:51 Could the Cup go to Britain? 07:50 Docktalk – Part 1 12:00 Setting a new Fastnet course record 15:25 Catching up with Freddie Carr 33:00 Docktalk Part2 36:26 When the going gets really tough

Vlog #35 We sail from La Cruz in Banderas Bay to Yelapa. Its a beautiful little village that's only accesible by boat. We pulled in and we're greeted by a panga who led us to a mooring ball. His families restaurant there is Fanny's. The waves were too big there to take the dinghy in so the pangas rip you right up onto shore. We took a trek to the closer, smaller waterfall first, which was beautiful and had a tiny restaurant for drinks and snacks upon arrival. Travs decided to make the hike barefoot and stepped in one million horse poos along the way. The next day we got the panga to take us in again and this time we opted to hike to the farther waterfall. we are walked all the way through the village and crossed and few rivers. after about an hour we finally arrived. We thought we'd have this serene place all to ourselves but upon arrival there was a big group of skinny dippers who were mostly male, and by mostly i mean ALL. hahaha no worries though they were kind and courteous and we made small talk and then swam in the freezing cold waterfall water. Another amazing day in paradise! --------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. Keywords; sailing, Sailing Yacht Fridá af Wisby, Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon, Atlantic coast of Europe, sailing in Northern Europe, Sailing in France, Spinlock Deck-vest, building storage on a sailboat, sailing with a cat. In this episode we build our storage, check out our Spinlock deck-vests and we kast the lines for the first sail of the year. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives, where Anders was the CEO and owner of an IT company and Gitte was Chief Information Security Officer of an energy company in Sweden, but after we both experienced a burn-out we decided change our life-style to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. We are sailing along the Atlantic coast of Europe to the Mediterranean Sea. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boats and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, she had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders about 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed it to Gotland and in April 2020, during that summer we sailed in the Baltic Sea and then in August we headed south to Dieppe in France. Our goal for spring 2021 is to reach the Mediterranean Sea.
We decided to go racing. There were some delays and we got tired sailing waiting for the start. Once underway we held up our end of coming in last. Cakewalk rules, save the best for last, LOL. Karen kept up with her exercising by planking and also cleaned the eisenglass. Continued our sailing fun the next day with good winds. And…of course, we did some dancing. We have been sailing and living full time on our sailboat, Evolias for 2 1/2 years and have learned A LOT about sailing, about weather, and even about marriage. Since this is our ONE HUNDREDTH episode, we thought we would do something just a little different and share some of our top lessons with you while drinking a beer and sailing slowly during a beautiful morning! I mean afternoon... it's 5 o'clock somewhere someone said once. We started this beautiful journey as a newly married couple over two years ago in the southern Caribbean in Grenada with ZERO sailing experience, and since then have sailed nearly 10,000 miles, visiting nearly 30 different countries. In that time we have had too many lessons to count, and have truly become confident, proficient sailors, at least we seem to think so. So in this video we each list our top 5 lessons- everything from reefing and tacking to marriage challenges and weather planning. Follow along and learn from our mistakes and lessons! Thanks for watching and DON'T FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE!!!! CONSIDER BECOMING ONE OF OUR PATREONS REMEMBER...you are not supporting our lifestyle but more or less enjoying a really good show. So pop the popcorn, dim the lights, and sit back enjoy the show! Hi all, the the Port aft was designed to be a bunk but no way, its like a coffin. It has been used as a dumping ground and a real back breaker to access stuff in there so i took steps. Using it to conceal the Fridge!! Still in the trialing stage but want to pull off all the old sodden wood and replace with fresh/nicer looking timber. Thanks for watching, If you haven't subscribed already it's only going to get better so you know what to do... Thankyou and much love Spence and family
This week the floor removal in the port is extended, i clean back and replace/cover some keel bolt heads. More surrounds get epoxied in ready for the new windows!! Please like and subscribe, The Fields
This week see's some new floor panels going in, the Bilges painted in Polyester top coat/Flow coat and i manage to get out for a sail on a friends Westerly Pageant after replacing his engine. A real treat during this covid craziness!! Hope you enjoy Spence
Hi all, great to start fitting some fresh materials even though with a slight mishap.. I really must remember the importance of the fact that Foxy Lady is still afloat and i am working below the waterline!! Hope you enjoy, i really didn't,lol.
In this week's session, we recap on how boats move and stop. We look at basic weather forecasting and then we look at parts of a sailing boat. Watch the video to learn about different parts of the boat and how to rig a Pico sailing dinghy. We work in groups to label parts of the boat and then we take a quiz.
SMART CUSTOM is the new concept coined to mark a new era in the Southern Wind offer of sailing superyacht. Andrea Micheli, SWS Commercial Director, tells us what’s behind this “smart” yacht’s philosophy “A Smart custom project can be considered as versatile design platfrom, conceived from day one to be heavly customized while still leaving the reliable, tested base structures untouched. This approach allows to blend innovation with tried and true technology.”

In this episode we continue our boat shopping in the keys by looking at an Island Packet 31 and a C&C 37. We like both of these boats and we find as we look we learn the things we want to have, have to have, and things that we absolutely dislike. The question then becomes: How do you choose a Boat to Buy? What are you compromises that you are willing to have or not have? How much work are we willing to do? What price are you willing to pay for your first boat? How big do you need to be comfortable? These are all questions we begin to ask as we look at different boats. Follow along as we continue on this journey! We move into our new traveling home, a 40 ft Lagoon 2010. The kids are happy to be in a bigger space. Naja gives a little tour of our tiny home on the water and Jordan begins the first of many boat projects, fixing the fridge.
