We had planned to be south by now - but here it is January 2021 and we're stuck in the snow. There is a huge storm about to hit, and our boat is LITERALLY freezing. We needed to have already winterized the boat, but I guess better late than never! Next week we'll become an icebreaker, hauling the boat out and getting out of the cold. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. 2 lifts in 1 week!? WHY? Anis' Boatyard was great, unfortunately Port de Peche consists of 1 government owned travel lift (APIP), and the 4 private boatyards who unfortunately have to bribe the travel lift operator to lift their boats (even though it's their job!?)... From my experience, if you don't bribe the operator, he doesn't lift your boat. I have since heard from other friends who have visited the port that more care is now being taken and rightfully so, because the way they operate someone will get seriously hurt one day. I would really like to thank T-Top Outdoors, they are supporting us helping these animals with a discounted price on our sprayhood. They didn't ask of anything, just showing their support to Sailing Sunday & saving animals so we very proud to give them a shout out!!! In this episode we are getting ourselves and Calico Skies ready to travel abroad once again. Our plan for the upcoming season is starting to come together and we are heading south and west, possibly to the Pacific Ocean. We are currently in South Florida, a fantastic spot to get any needed parts for our projects. While in Lake Boca we pick up a massive amount of packages from Brian's brother Brett who has been collecting them for us at his house. We raft up with Delos on our last night here in Lake Boca before we head south to Hollywood and get into boat project mode.If ya can't beat them join em! We decide to remove a small water tank taking our water capacity down by 14 gallons but freeing up space to install a second freezer . This feels like a good compromise since we have a high output watermaker.
