Hi Guys, In this weeks vlog, I am preparing to leave my boat again. I am showing the realities of boat like vs. living in a house to show that everything takes a lot longer and more planning is required as you can't just up and leave! I hope you enjoy the vlog! Kayleigh I'm Kayleigh and along with my two dogs Hugo and Coco we will full time on board our 37ft narrowboat Grayswood. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So we decided to purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside the boat, we made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom. The Mooloolaba Futures Training Camp brought together some of the country's brightest up-and-coming Laser sailors, to train alongside the Australian Sailing Team. The camp was held in Mooloolaba as a component of the Futures program and offered athletes the opportunity to build their knowledge and skills across an intense 2-week training block.

We are Anne & Marcel, liveaboards on a small sailboat called "Zeezot". End of May 2021we untied the lines and sailed the English Channel with the plan to cross the bay of Biscay from Camaret sur Mer to A Coruña in July 2021. Watch in this episode why we changed the plan and watch us island-hopping at the Atlantic coast of France, like a butterfly fluttering from flower to flower. :-)

We averaged 7 knots SOG for 12 hour sail on 15 knot winds with fairly close 6 ft waves. Although we thought it would be parasailor weather, it turned out the Genoa and the Main sailed well for the majority of the day. Arriving at the St. Augustine inlet, we were warned of the narrow channel and numerous shoals. Our 5 AM departure got us a 5 PM arrival with plenty of light to navigate the channel. Following the markers, it was an easy entry even in the frothy seas. We headed for the Bridge of Lions to wait for the bridge opening (every 1/2 hour on request). We had planned on anchoring just past the city marina mooring field, however were hailed on our approach that they had a mooring ball for us - thanks to being on the wait list. We settled in on mooring ball #5. A note on anchoring for masts over 65 ft - the area before the bridge can be quite rocky so try to avoid it. Salt Run (which we did later) is a good option depending on your draft and is much quieter as it is a good distance from the city. Read the rest on our blog site. This week we continue our Pacific crossing, on a little different note, Kieran is noticeably tired and the sail has gotten to him. We head south towards Ecuador in search for the beloved trade winds but stumble across some real problems. On day 5 a squall hits, Kieran reefs the sail when I spot a vessel a couple nautical miles off to our port, and it's moving towards us... With land being 100 NM away and no other vessels around we start thinking about the worst possible scenario. Later that day, wobbling all alone again (or so we thought) in the big ocean, we get tangled. A long fishing line has wrapped around our keel and rudder, pulling Merewether back and slowing us down. Kieran has to jump in the water and untangle us. The first swim in the Pacific ocean!! We'd spent over two week's aboard our sailboat sailing towards the Azores. After finally arrived and were allowed to go and explore! I (Khiara) may have had an unknowing bout of cabin fever so when I was free to explore the land, I went a little crazy. We rented a car to check out the island of Faial and after a few pitstops for BEAUTIFUL scenery and flowers (my call), we got to our first destination... a volcano! We were soon to discover that the island of Faial had a rich history of volcanic activity... and astounding scenery to boot. We spent the day hiking and driving and in awe of this captivating island. The next day we made our mark of the island... literally, by painting our logo on the walls of the marina surrounded by thousands of other paintings of boats who'd also sailed to get to this place. Rob, Rachel, Finn, Declan, Ivan https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis BACK STORY In 1997, after rowing at the Atlanta Olympics, Rob decided to row a tiny seven-metre plywood boat, 2500 miles from Tenerife in the Canary Islands to Barbados in the Caribbean. It took 6 weeks and he and his rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, won the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. His first taste of a blue water ocean crossing. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and Rachel purchased Javelot a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, we set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know our boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn 18, Declan 16 and Ivan 13, in tow. Through trial and error, we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. Our plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we will re trace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Unbelievable, he came and left just like that. Grumpy as anything with no reason! Simon called him 10 times to persuade the driver to come back and collect the boat. Four hours later he decided to come back and do the job. One of the reasons that our day was long as 12 hours, we were absolutely exhausted by the time we arrived in Windsor. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Es día 7 de Julio del 2021, fiesta de San Fermín. Estamos fondeados en la ría de Barquero, una de las preciosas Rías Altas de Galicia. Aquí vamos a pasar la noche en un precioso fondeadero resguardado y acogedor para los vientos del NW, los que hoy están soplando. Es la segunda etapa de nuestro viaje del 2021. En estas fechas este es un lugar solitario y tiene algo mágico en el ambiente. Un arroyo se precipita en una pequeña cascada sobre el mar y su rumor se escucha perfectamente desde el barco: es buen día para leer poesía... poesía de mar.

La météo clémente nous permettra de réaliser des tas de travaux sur Javerne. Un tout gros nettoyage avec le nettoyeur à haut pression, puis quelques retouches peinture. Nous en profiterons pour aller sur l’île de Mwemba pour découvrir son eau turquoise et son superbe banc de sable immaculé. Et tout ça à bord d’un dhow, boutre local à une voile. Bref, que du plaisir avec Olympe et son mari Moudi qui possèdent une petite entreprise pour promener les touristes sur leur superbes embarcations.
