Det har ikke været let at finde den rigtige targabøjle; vi vil have én der er let i designet, holdbar og som kan holde de solpaneler vi har brug for + en radar. Valget faldt på en bøjle fra Baltic Solar Arches og det er vi meget glade for. Mikkel Kloster, som er indehaver af Baltic Solar Arches, gav os en god pris, mod at vi viser bøjlen frem. We're just a bunch of young salty scallywag sailors, doing our best to sail on a budget. We've had a morning full of activities, skurfing, and dune sliding at Fraser Island. With the Hamilton race week cancelled, we figured we'd have our own yacht race to the top of Fraser Island. Obviously, Nakama wins...we finish off the amazing time we have had with our cruising mates with some sundowners on Pearl, the ONE DOLLAR catamaran @TheMerTheMan We are woken at Bikinis to humpback whales, checking the weather we decide to make the trip to the mainland to hide from some wind that's on its way and to get some study that we have been ignoring done. It's a long day of motoring as the predicted wind didn't show and instead presented us with a glass lake. Salveeeeee Elementos Nesta semana, finalmente aplicamos o COPPERPOBRE, nosso coppercoat caseiro e entre um milhão de problemas, como não poderia ser diferente, finalizamos mais um item de nossa reforma e nos colocamos mais próximos de retornar à água... Foi sensacional terminar tal tarefa que é um serviço enorme e de grande complexidade sobretudo após N problemas, mas no final, tudo correu bem apesar do estresse, rolinhos de péssima qualidade (embora não tenhamos feito economia), catalisação e, para finalizar, um problema na renderização do vídeo que nos atrasou na publicação (1000 perdões por isso, Elementos!!), mas cá estamos, conseguimos finalizar mais esta fase... These simple family traditions focus on spending time together and making memories with little effort and very few supplies, so they’re affordable and fun! Did you have a back-to-school tradition in your house!?! What do you do with YOUR family?? 1. First Day Of School Picture T-Shirt: Pick a t-shirt in a size you think your little one will be when they're a senior—size up, everyone loves an oversized tee! Better big than small on this. Buy iron-on varsity letters to create their graduation year. Take a photo of your child wearing the t-shirt each year on the 1st day of school until they reach graduation :) 2. School Snack Taste Test: Grab a bunch of snack options from the grocery story and organize a family taste test. Create a score card and grading system. Let them be in charge! They can rank their favorites and get excited about what they'll be finding in their lunch box this year :) 3. Kindercone: These paper cones or Schultüte are a fun German tradition. Roll up a piece of poster board to create a cone. Attach tissue paper using double-sided tape and fill with school supplies; tie with a ribbon. 4. Alphabet Snack Mix: Buy as many letter and number shaped cookies, crackers, cereal, etc. from the grocery store and mix together into a mega Alpha-Numeral Snack Mix for the lunch box or after school snack.

We have started making Mondays our adventure day...and this monday did not let us down! We drove about 45 minutes east into the Brecon Beacons. First stop was the Nant Sere waterfalls deep in the valley under the well known, Pen-Y-Fan. A liberating strip off and a bite to eat gave us the energy to finish the final stretch of the hike- over the ridge. The next stop was Talybont Reservoir. An amazing stretch of water which i instantly remembered from my Duke of Edinburgh hikes around the area. Full of wildlife and photographers, this is a great place to eat lunch and get some fresh air. The final adventure- número tres (unsure where the Spanish is coming from in this video?!) was Pont-Sarn Blue Pool. This week we celebrate being on anchor again by exploring the beautiful island of Nuku Hiva in French Polynesia. The first two, three days after arriving we didn’t do much but sleep and eat. After our recovery we wanted to explore the beautiful green island we were anchored in. There was a hike around the side of island we had heard was particularly nice, but what was the directions again? Trying to fit in on the Pacific island we placed a flower behind our ears and started our walk. Facing all kinds of weather and animals along the way we finally reached the top. WOW. In loss of words, pinch me!? Kieran thinks that we are walking in a barrel of a wave and gives he's very own take of a "barrel sound". I of course found a baby cow to cuddle with, he really liked the taste of me (haha). Back on Merewether Kieran wanted to clean the haul. In this episode, we sail from Terciera to Sao Miguel in the Azores. I (Khiara) decided to be captain for the day and as soon as we hoisted a sail, something went wrong! After dealing with the issue in a very captainly manner, we then sailed the 90 mile stretch between the islands in beautiful but calming conditions. We arrived in the morning and the next day set off to explore the island. Being a lover of rosy lee, our first stop was Cha Gorreana, (most likely) Europe's oldest and largest tea plantation. From there we set off discovering lakes, bubbling hot springs and beautiful island views as well as some of it's amusing inhabitants! A few day later, after finishing with the fun and frivolity of exploring a new island, we got down to some work... boat work! Which has been few and far between for the last few weeks so we actually kind of enjoyed doing it. We got to work installing a repaired radar that got delivered to the marina, and to see whether it finally worked and if we'd have radar capability in future! Episode #201 : A very bucking bronco anchorage Hello Friends, On this episode we haul up at Little Fisherman's Cove and make way for Rippers Cove. It was a short motorsail of 4 miles and we had the anchorage all to ourselves. At first it looked very promising but soon the wind waves joined forces with the swell wrapping around the island making the anchorage very uncomfortable. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

Ever heard of an Island Spirit catamaran? We hadn't either. We really like the layout of this one though, so we booked a survey and sea trial to see if this is the one! We brought along Brokerus Amazingus Ian Edmonson and Thea Koshman from Catamaran Guru. Thea is the selling broker and she's been a great source of local information for us. the sellers rounded out the team with Captain George and we hired Jonathan Sands to carry out the survey. All aboard, we set sail up the ICW, ducked out into the ocean, and in to Marinetown for a haul-out. It was an eye opener! After the devastating fire that destroyed Strangford Sailing Club and missing a year due to COVID it was great to kick off the 2021 Narrows series with the annual Bar Buoy race. There was a strong felt of boats competing in the IRC 1 class which include a visitor from Scotland. Animal GBR 3627L show the rest of the fleet a clean pair of heels taking both line honers and corrected time but some margin. Was this sign of things to comes as we kicked off the Narrows series. The Rolex Fastnet Race has a reputation for the severe weather that it can throw at its competitors. Still strongly remembered is the 1979 race that cost 19 lives. Today the 49th edition of the 96-year-old offshore racing classic lived up to its fame as the first of seven starts got underway at 15 minute intervals starting at 1100 BST. Over the last three days strong southwesterly winds have been blowing up the Channel and competitors in the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s premier event were treated to these same headwinds gusting into the 30s and, as the tide turned off the Needles and in the western Solent, a building wind-against-tide sea state developed. COVID, international travel restrictions due to COVID, plus Brexit have resulted in this year’s Rolex Fastnet Race being a unique affair. This along with a lively forecast for the race’s first 24 hours caused entries to drop as start day approached. Nonetheless, crossing line today off Cowes was still a highly impressive turn-out of 337 boats from 24 nations including Japan, Mexico and eight from the USA, but the majority from Europe, including the largest ever turn-out from France. Despite winds gusting to 35 knots, the starts got away well. Among the multihulls, it was the favourites and defending champions, Volvo Ocean Race winners Franck Cammas and Charles Caudrelier on the Ultime trimaran Maxi Edmond de Rothschild that pulled the trigger most rapidly. They were followed by Thomas Coville’s Sodebo Ultim 3 and the Yves le Blevec-skippered Actual, but with the two MOD70s Maserati and Argo of Giovanni Soldini and Jason Carroll respectively, leading the charge in the MOCRA fleet. Incredibly just three hours after starting the Ultimes had already crossed the Channel and were putting in a tack to the west of Cape de la Hague, setting themselves up unusually to pass south of the Casquets TSS.
