It seems like there is missing a foam ring at the power/gear box so I mount a new one. Mais sans plus tarder, nous devons partir vers un meilleur mouillage pour se protéger des temps orageux à venir. On se rend donc à Hatchet Bay, qui est considérée comme un trou à ouragan pour plusieurs. August is getting closer, and it’s funny how it seems we’re in the middle of a busy schedule that will never end with less than 8 weeks of solid work left of this summer season. 8 weeks. I remember my summer holiday as a kid in elementary school was 8 weeks, and it seemed like forever. When I think about it now though, I still have that same forever feeling at the start of summer, but now, in the middle, I’m freaked out by how much is left to organize and settle before sailing south, and I find myself even stressing about things that won’t be present until December. It feels like September already. And it’s like years just fly by. I can only imagine how time must feel for Millie, or for any kid for that matter. For her, these past two months make out a third of her entire life experience. So for me at 34, I guess that would be the same feeling as a summer being only half way through after 11 years. It becomes more and more important to live in the moment the older we get, and I guess that’s ultimately what this episode is about. Nothing big really happened, but living in the moment should mean appreciating the little random things too. We show how we make large gauge battery cables cheap for our audio amplifiers and high amp alternator. In this Jeep, we have upgraded to a high output alternator, installed a 1,200 watt Skar Amp, and just needed larger cables to carry the current. Looking at heavy gauge wire we found that jumper cables are almost half the cost compared to jump buy heavy gauge wire so why not cut cost in our project. Our video goes over why we went with jumper cables versus just buying raw wire for our high amp project. We show how to cut and strip the wire only using the cable cutters. You never want to strip more of the wire than you need, it is easy to measure so you won't have an issue with an electrical short. The Wire Crimp Is Important When crimping heavy gauge wire, a good cable lug crimper is a must. In the past, I have used a hammer to crimp wires, not a great solution. The hammer solution has cause cable terminations to fail, would not recommend this. Get a good set of cutters and crimpers, we have a link below to what we used. Why Use Heat Shrink When Wiring Heat shrink is very important for electrical cable installations, we highly recommend it. For smaller wires, we like to use heat shrink butt and wire connectors. Not only does it protect your wires from shorting out, but it also helps prevent your cable termination from being pulled out. For a jeep, boat, or anything else where the wire terminations may get wet, this is a must.
