After the paralyzing heat of summer, the most beautiful time of the year begins in Turkey: autumn. The wind picks up slightly, during the day the thermometer still climbs to 30 degrees, the water is only slightly cooler. Time to test the new Parasailor with friends, to sail along the coast, to discover historical places. Also, after the Corona forced break, the first friends from the old home country come to visit. And then there is our sailing SUP Cup in Kekova, this time with participants from Israel, Wales, Turkey and Germany.

The keel construction continues; the keel bolt holes are drilled; the cockpit gets some railings; and Hazel's cruising season comes to an end. This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. We are cruising couple Timo (Italian) and Jo (English), with countless ocean miles under our belts, including sailing half way around the world from Europe to Fiji! Nándor raced the boat in the 1990 and 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race.

Day 2 started out rainy and gusty, making for a restless sleep, and me getting up far too early. But if you can't sleep, you may as well get up - so I did, and made some coffee while enjoying the approaching dawn. Options? We had plenty. Well, we really had two. Stay Put or Go Explore. By Noon we had Aubrey Island to ourselves, and while I had initially wanted to move the boat to the small dock on the East side of the Island, I realized that the wind and waves would have made for a very uncomfortable stay - so that idea was not viable. As the morning progressed, it looked like we were going to have a break in the weather....the wind was less gusty, and the rain more sporadic. What to do??? Decisions, Decisions!

Russ Kramer, F, ASMA Today, Russ Kramer is widely regarded to be among the country’s leading marine artists. His large-scale studio paintings create ‘first-hand’ experiences for the viewer, putting you right on board during some of history’s greatest yacht races or turn-of-the-century luxury vessels. A sense of the dramatic moment, combined with meticulous research and attention to detail, have found considerable appeal and sell quickly into private and corporate collections. His works are unique and immediately recognizable, combining narrative, historical, figurative and maritime disciplines. Russ has been the subject of a one-man show at the Museum of Yachting in Newport, Rhode Island, appeared in WoodenBoat, Yachting, and Sail magazines, and is prominently represented in the volumes Art and Artifacts of The America’s Cup by Hyland-Granby. He is a fellow and past President of the American Society of Marine Artists. He has won multiple awards at the Mystic International Marine Art Exhibition, including the prestigious Yachting Award in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2017. He is represented by the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, the J. Russell Jinishian Gallery in Fairfield, CT and the Roger King Gallery in Newport, RI. Russ lives and works in Mystic, CT.

A little over a decade since it was founded, the Italian Cantiere delle Marche shipyard has built a formidable reputation for building formidable explorer yachts. Ocean TV's Monaco Yacht Show correspondent John Leonida talked to CdM's Sales and Marketing Director Vasco Buonpensiere about the yard's latest launch, the 40 metre RJ130. "We're seeing a lot of boats self-proclaimed as explorers with a reverse windshield on the pilothouse," Buonpensiere says. "What we're doing with this RJ line is in a way showing to the market that an explorer is all about the contents and not the shape of it." http://www.cantieredellemarche.it/ Additional camerawork: George Leonida

The saga of unsafe anchoring continues in the San Blas islands. We move from anchorage to anchorage to find a quiet nights rest but it seems like we have bad luck on our side. More sleepless nights as boats get ridiculously close - ALWAYS in the middle of the night and well ultimately we get hit by another boat! Laundry day looks a little different on Zephyr these days - as James decides to jump into Salty water to wash mattress toppers! And after some amazing weeks in the San Blas islands we think it’s time to head back to Linton Bay! Our friends haul their boat out and we plan our haul out as we find out some exciting news and upcoming travels! We all know there are a lot of YouTube sailing channels out there but I never thought we would be sailing through the Greek islands with six channels all together! It's been a brilliant experience so far, linking up with people who have been to, and filmed, such a variety of places around the world. As full time cruisers ourselves we don't have unlimited data so pick and choose the channels we watch regularly. We try and watch new ones from time to time as there are so many good ones out there, but we do tend to pick channels that are sailing areas we are in as it's a great way of seeing what's out there. So we already feel we know Rigging Doctor and See The Little Things because we follow them, but we have now been introduced to Josh Post and Bums on a Boat, both from the US. The man behind it all is Andy from Ocean Cruisers Podcast who has now interviewed all of us! We are still sailing together so there will be more in future videos and we are all appearing together for a joint YouTube live at 7pm Greek time on Friday (5pm UK time). That's a first for us so do join us. You will see lots more of this meet up from all the other channels so make sure you subscribe to all these great people.... See the Little Things: @see the little things Rigging Doctor: @Rigging Doctor Josh Post : @Josh Post Bums on a Boat: @Bums on a Boat Ocean Cruisers Podcast: @Ocean Cruisers Podcast & Entertainment Network Do check them out and subscribe if you haven't already. We will cover the meeting in our next episode, so don't miss that! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE DO SUBSCRIBE - IT COSTS YOU NOTHING AND HELPS US OUT WITH THE YOU TUBE ALGORITHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rather see our videos without adds?...
