Welcome to Cowes for the start of the 2022 Myth of Malham race, we are live with all the pre race build up and starts for each class. The race around Eddystone Lighthouse is one of the most popular as it provides crews with a great opportunity to try out the first part of the Rolex Fastnet Race course. This race takes in some of the most challenging and complex tidal gates around notable headlands that include Portland Bill and Start Point providing a real challenge for navigators and tacticians, and usually a great downwind ride back to the finish.

We see a storm is coming towards us and try to avoid the worst of it. Mission not succeeded. We are hit by 10 meters waves and 60 knots of wind. Our foresail get stuck and rips and the engine stops working in the start of the storm.

The 16th edition of the Southern Wind Rendezvous and Trophy got underway in light breeze and sunny skies. Perfect conditions for enjoying a day on the water with friends and family. PRO Peter Craig announced that the AP would be raised for the racing fleet until the breeze filled in, but that didn’t stop the Rendezvous fleet from getting their party started. Picnic lunches by Giagoni offered in partnership with Doyle Sails were distributed after the Captain’s briefing and the Rendezvous fleet enjoyed calm waters and sunny skies, heading towards Cala Coticcio at a leisurely pace for a quick swim. The wind filled in at 3PM and the fleet had a start off the Cala then raced each other south past Mortorio and finishing between the Cardinal and Nibani islands. After a good two hours of sailing fun, it was Sorceress who got line honours for the day. In the racing fleet Morgana finished fifth after two and a half hours of racing.

Dit is het tweede deel van onze oceaanoversteek van Tenerife naar Mindelo op de Kaapverdische eilanden. Aan het einde van de oversteek, dicht bij de Kaapverden, worden we bezocht door een groep orca's. Gelukkig zijn dit niet de agressieve orca's die in de buurt van noord Spanje en Portugal boten lastig vallen. Maar spannend en indrukwekkend is het zeker! Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. Der Wetterbericht lag mal wieder daneben, wer sich davon nicht abschrecken ließ, wurde mit einem schönen Sonnenuntergang belohnt. Es halten sich hartnäckig die Gerüchte, dass ganz am Ende des Videos sogar ein Schweinswal vor Warnemünde gesichtet wurde.
