Final preparations for the 16th edition of the Southern Wind Rendezvous and Trophy, organised within the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta and hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, are underway. At Anchor near Maasholm We decide to take it easy for a day. The sun is shining and we are chill at anchor. So the day is filled with some reading, doing a bit of chores, coordinating with Rob where he’s flying to when he takes off next week and thus looking at some course. Early in the afternoon t gets cloudier and after a ‘shower for the strawberries 🍓’ we sail the dinghy (the TT) to the shore on to walk around to the harbour and have dinner at @TAUB. Wednesday is apparently a rest day in the already not extremely bustling town of Maasholm. So virtually everything is closed. Not too bad, because the restaurant where we ate last time is also open. Yoo-hoo! Meanwhile, the sun is shining brightly again. After a nice early snack, we take a walk to the other side of the bay and leave the drone on for some practice taking nice shots. The emphasis is on practising. Because it and there we fool around🤣🤣. Once back on board, we turn on the generator for some power recharging and have a quiet evening with a beautiful sunset. #anchor #maasholm #eastsea

Making the transition to liveaboard has been hard to make happen! We have the boat, but our recreational moorage doesn't allow liveaboards. So we kept renting but got a roomate.... except our apartment is really small, so that was pretty cramped. With moorage renewal coming up we applied for liveaboard status and decided to wing it and sublet the whole apartment for 6 months to try to make it happen. This week on The Ocean Cruisers podcast we are speaking with Brooke and Gary from the Youtube Sailing Channel Sailing One Life. @SailingOneLife Brooke and Gary have been cruising now for 2 years around the Caribbean and have just entered the Pacific after crossing through the Panama Canal. They started off their journey in Florida, where they were living at the time and purchased a 1984 Nautical Development Offshore 40. They spent 6 months working full time whilst refitting One Life ready for cruising the Caribbean Seas. Fresh to sailing, they left the dock with no experience but started to pick up skills as they cruised. They have taken each day as it comes and are now heading to the sea of Cortez for the next stage of their journey.
