Suriname is een feest om te ontdekken. In Paramaribo bezoeken we Fort Zeelandia, een vestingwerk dat een roemruchte geschiedenis heeft en tegenwoordig voornamelijk bekend is vanwege de decembermoorden die er zijn gepleegd. Uiteraard bezoeken we ook de Javaanse markt, gaan naar de voormalige Plantage Peperpot, dat nu een natuurpark is en ontdekken Fort Nieuw Amsterdam dat op de hoek van de Surinamerivier en de Commewijnerivier ligt. Ook daar treffen we een stukje minder frisse historie; de slavernij, grootschalige migratie en de "hel van Fort Nieuw Amsterdam". Jarenlang heb ik ervan gedroomd om zeilend te gaan waar de wind me brengt. In 2020 was het dan eindelijk zover en heb ik samen met Felia een prachtige reis gemaakt naar Scandinavië en de Baltische staten. Onze Eva, een Atlantic 43 uit 2007, is een aluminium zeiljacht met hefkiel en gebouwd en uitgerust voor reizen naar plaatsen die net achter de horizon liggen. Vanaf 2021 vaar ik met wisselende bemanning zuidwaarts. Ik vind het leuk om onze avonturen met jullie te delen. Nach einer schweren Krebserkrankung starte ich einen Neuanfang im Leben. Ich nehme mir eine unbefristete Auszeit unter Segeln und mache einen Segeltörn mit meiner Segelyacht, einer Bavaria 37 Cruiser, Richtung Mittelmeer und vielleicht noch viel weiter... komm mit und begleite mich zu den schönsten Spots der Welt, der Segeltörn führt über die Nordsee, durch den Ärmelkanal, die Normandie zur Bretagne und von da über die Biscaya.
