O barco Inaê Soto Amstel Ultra fez o último treino na tarde deste sábado (23) antes de estrear na tradicional semana esportiva, que chega a sua 49ª edição. A equipe de Santos (SP) estava completa para os treinos, que contou com os últimos reparos na vela e ajustes. Na classe ORC, o Soto 40 enfrentará outros quatro veleiros de mesmo tamanho nas regatas: o Phytoervas 4Z, King, Argos e Vesper. A equipe fez várias regatas treinos no primeiro semestre visando a semana em Ilhabela (SP), bem como a participações em campeonatos como Paulista de Oceano, Copa ICS e Copa Mitsubishi. Neste domingo (24) a competição se inicia com o desfile dos barcos às 11h e a largada para a Regata de Toque Toque, às 12h. A regata Alcatrazes por Boreste Marinha do Brasil, que deveria ser neste domingo, não será realizada devido à previsão de ventos fraco. Em maio, Inaê Soto Amstel Ultra, Phytoervas 4Z e King fizeram uma regata-treino em Santos (SP), como o mesmo ambiente de uma competição, com bóias, juízes e barcos de apoio. As equipes poderão testar as largadas, ritmo de prova e novas funções a bordo. Agora com o S40, Inaê Amstel Ultra deu um salto de qualidade ao adquirir o barco mais vencedor da última década. A swimming scow is my own concept, specifically intended for use on a small weedy lake. If there is one thing that this model building does for me, it’s that it gets something out from under my skin….or perhaps it puts something under my skin. With the wreck being just a few meters from shore, it can be dived and enjoyed by beginner divers, and it offers enough to explore for the more experienced divers too. We sailed a cross Stadt that is a rough area on the Norwegian coast and came to the mystical Island Selja. Selja Abbey was a Benedictine monastery located on the island of Selja in the municipality of Stad, Vestland, Norway. The legend says that Sunniva was the heir of an Irish kingdom who had to flee from a heathen king. She fled to island of Selja where she died. It was the location of the original shrine of Saint Sunniva and for that reason was a place of pilgrimage, and also the seat of a bishopric and a cathedral dedicated to Saint Michael, established about 1070.

We showed off our sea-built muscles to mom as we took her on a proper sailing adventure. Follow along for varying shades of ocean blue, sea-faring pigs – some cute, some intimidating, and zig-zag tacking all the way down to Georgetown! Mom is proving to be the best crew member on Expedition Evans. She knows the drill when it comes to getting ready for sailing, and even cleaned the entire galley! With mom’s help, we got ready for a short sail over to Staniel Cay. We decided to take the scenic route so we could relax and enjoy the sail through the shallow, pale turquoise waters as we made our way to the cay. The sun was low in the sky as we arrived at the cay, and although the anchorage was congested with boats, there wasn’t another soul on the beach. We endured the early evening bugs to enjoy solo time with all of the swimming pigs! They were friendly and loved munching on carrots and playing with us in the water. We couldn’t get enough of the adorable pigs so we stopped by Staniel Cay again during the day, arriving at a much more crowded beach than the day before. The water was crystal clear and we got to see sharks and a massive ray. Stopping in town for provisions proved not entirely fruitless as Jade snagged a freshly fallen mango off the ground, but all of the shops were closed. The unrelenting heat on the cay let us know it was time to start heading south to get mom to Georgetown in time for her flight home. Taking the most direct route south took us out into the Atlantic Ocean again – the 400 feet of deep blue water made a huge contrast to the 4 feet of clear water from earlier in the day. As the moon peeked out above the clouds, the misty sunset colors over the Atlantic reminded us of someplace off the coast of California. Onward through the night we sailed, until we decided to take a sleeping break at High Cay in order to let the stormy weather and harsh waves pass us by. We got up before the sun to continue our sail down south. We were eventually greeted with radiant pink and blue sunrise colors over the ocean, which then turned into a perfectly sunny sailing day. The sail to Georgetown was entirely upwind which meant zig-zag tacking the entire day. We arrived at a windy anchorage with no bugs – hooray! – and that signature bright turquoise water. Have you ever had to climb a mast to retrieve a halyard or something, but didn't have any climbing gear on board? I climbed this 60'/18M mast using only scraps of line and I'm going to show you how I did it. Join me on this fast sail from Panama to San Andres. The Columbian island outside of Nicaragua that also was the dream of a solo sailor friend still missing after 3 years. Im meeting up with my friends Rick and Maddy from Sailing Sophisticated Lady, and experience the easiest and friendliest check in to a Latin country ever. 220 Nautical miles solo is not very long distance, but weather and busy traffic makes it a bit tiring. However the conditions was way better than expected and even sailing pretty good where I expected to be motoring due to no wind zone (Doldrums) This is basically mostly lots of sailing with actual sounds for the lover of the sea.
