In this episode we visit sail our Lagoon 42 Catamaran to Shroud Cay, Bahamas in the Exuma Land and Sea Park. We visit Driftwood Camp, swim the rapids, find and old well and explore the mangrove creeks of the Island. The Land and Sea Park is a environmentally sensitive and protective area. In this episode we switch it up and show you how we crossed the Gulfstream and made a detour back and to Ft. Lauderdale to have a 1,520 watt solar power array installed. The Burke family was completely spared from the devastation from Hurricane Ian after it took a turn for the east and made landfall south of the Tampa Bay area. The people of Southwest Florida were not so fortunate. The Burke's have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time in that area including Boca Grande, Captiva, Sanibel and Cayo Costa...all areas that will never be the same following this storm. The Burke family was completely spared from the devastation from Hurricane Ian after it took a turn for the east and made landfall south of the Tampa Bay area. The people of Southwest Florida were not so fortunate. Here, we anchor off Captiva and explore the island. We visit Captiva Island and Sanibel. We have a friendly encounter with a manatee, have lunch at the Bubble Room and tour the islands by bike and dinghy before heading home to St. Petersburg, FL. Using reverse osmosis, the crew of Sunshine Daydream is able to convert salt water in to drinkable water allowing them to live away from land almost indefinitely. SVSD has a Dessalator Freedom 60 water maker that was left unused for several months. Join us as we attempt to fire up the system.
