Und wenn doch mal weniger Wind ist, steht immer noch eine unangenehme Welle. Wie schlagen sich Hund und Katze im Sturm? Ein erster Stresstest. The whole Mediterranean seems calm, only in the Cyclades the Meltemi is raging. And that will probably continue for weeks. We have to get through it. Somehow. We try to take advantage of every favourable weather window, but unfortunately the forecasts are difficult. Winds over 30 knots are not uncommon. And if there is less wind, there is still an unpleasant wave. How do dog and cat fare in a storm? A first stress test.

Today I made a cake for my 2 year channel anniversary

From our campsite at Samuel P. Taylor State Park in CA — we head north to Tomales Bay. At the Tomales Point trail head we go back in time to the 1800s and explore Pierce Point Ranch. Then we hit the foggy trail in search of amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Tomales Bay. Thick fog reduced visibility, but not our spirits! Of course we get some delicious camp cooking in with an egg, avocado and sausage sandwich!

This episode is a bit of a mix, some sailing, eating, dinghy trips and exploring! You also don't get to see me service our engine! 😳 It was the first time we had left the boat unattended on anchor! This was a little un nerving and the walk we went on was down the beach at the side of the river keeping an eye on her the whole time 😂. We went to a 'boat jumble' in Ipswich which was the first we have been to and it was rather good. Quite a few bargains to be had and if you need some bits they are a great place to go. Lots of second (and possibly third and fourth) hand items and new stuff also. Lines and fenders galore! I also serviced our engine for the first time (and my first time). We considered filming it but as I needed to concentrate and genuinely swore so much it was not going to be a great edit! it went relatively well on the whole but learned some tricks, like the oil pumping that should have taken 7-10 pumps to bring the oil out through the dipstick... after 1 hour of pumping we realised that the engine wasn't hot enough and then it came straight out! Oil filter came off well, fuel filter was tricky but came off.. belts simple,. impeller easy... then the bl@0dY Racor fuel/ water separator! this took hours. I tried everything and I am quite strong! It got to the point where I was almost ripping the filter and fibreglass mount out of the wall so I ended up taking the pipes off and unscrewing the whole thing. We were the talk of our pontoon and many neighbours were involved trying to help. I then finally decided to put a screw through it and tried.. had a neighbour holding it down one end and I turned the screwdriver. It ripped a 2 inch slit through the metal and still wouldn't budge. One last try before the multi tool came out... it shifted! finally.. so the job that I thought would take half a day - day max ended up taking 2 days! On nettoie la coque à l'acide, traite la rouille du pont et je découpe plusieurs plaques rouillées sur le pont, qui seront plus tard mes premières plaques d'entraînement à la soudure !

I decided not to do a tutorial on "how to" replace the bearing because there are just so many online already. Well, that and it literally took us 2 days to do this project. This was the first project and the ONLY reason we went to the yard. After hauling out and looking at everything our $100 repair turned into a $6k overhaul from the rail down! After resolving a dragging anchor and some dead batteries I brave the polar bears to hike around svalbard. Then we sail back across the Norwegian sea to Tromsø and tour Ed’s Oyster 48. Our sail camping trip to Lake Granby, Colorado in July 2022. We launched from the Sunset Point boat ramp and camped in a small, shallow cove about 1.9 miles up the Colorado River. Lake Granby sits 22 miles downstream from the headwaters of the Colorado River and is Colorado's 3rd largest body of water. The "lake" is technically a reservoir, since it is formed by Granby Dam completed in 1950.
