After a little over 3 months cruising up the ICW to the Chesapeake Bay, we leave Blue Turtle in a friend's slip at Wells Cove Marina in Kent Narrows, MD and rent a car to drive to Tennessee where Randy's work is headquartered. What was supposed to be a week or so in TN turned out to be a month in TN and PA. While Randy wasn't working, we used the opportunity to take in the sights and smells of the forests and wildlife of the Smoky Mountains and Poconos. It's been almost 8 years since we sold almost everything we owned, moved onto a sailboat and set sail to see the world on our Catamaran Saltair3. That was 2014 and Cole was just 8 yeas old. We're now back on Vancouver Island. Many of you won't even remember where or when the adventure started for this sailing Trio... This is a hybrid video of where we came from, why we did it and some fun footage of our time in one of our favourite Caribbean nations, the Dominican Republic. We have since sold Saltair 3 and moved back to our home on Vancouver Island where we have our summer food truck business and a tiny home in Cassidy near the Nanaimo airport. Instead of a sailing catamaran we now have a small power boat, an airplane and motorcycles both off road and street cycles, all to try and satisfy our adventure adrenaline habit Lol! In our family vlog this week, we made our way to Istanbul, Turkey. What an experience! The maze-like city has some of the best street food we’ve had in our travels. You could easily get lost in these ancient streets. I highly recommend taking a walking tour. Although we’re not big shoppers, we visited the Grand Bazaar. We were five of the over 90,000,000 people that visit it every year, but 90,000,000 people can’t be wrong, right? It didn’t disappoint. I think it would have taken the entire week to see everything there. We had a small disappointment when seeing the Blue Mosque. The 400-year-old structure was closed for the day, so we were only able to see the amazing exterior. Pretty sad, but we don’t have much to complain about. Thanks for watching! See you next week! This is Episode 47 of our adventure. This week are out of the water at Hayling Yacht Company fitting our new Trudesign plastic seacocks. Whilst we are at it we decide to re-antifoul the boat and after seeing the growth on the metal work decide to apply Seajet propellor anti-foul to stop it happening again. We get relaunched and sail back to Southampton for the last time. We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We are really fortunate to spend another week in stunning Turkey. This week we sail 52nm from Kas Turkey to Gocek to pick up some family and friends. We loved Kas but it's time to head back up the coast. We have 1 month until we need to leave Turkey and we will enter Greece. Our friends Will and Elise are Kiwi's who are working in the UK, they have a small window of time off, so we hope to show them a great time in and around Southern Turkey. They are both keen to learn more about sailing so we use the time to answer as many questions as possible and give them a variety of experiences. After collecting Will and Elise from Gocek we visit 2 larger bays East of Gocek where we swim, laugh and visit a beach bar. Both bays offer clear waters and a great vibe. We also sail into Fethiye where Will and Elise sight see the area. The sailing over the 6 days is great, with a variety of conditions to practice in. With perfect conditions forecast we head to Butterfly Valley and Karacaoren. These both offer some of the clearest water we have ever seen and we enjoy showing our guests. They hike Butterfly Valley while Trace and I enjoy snorkeling the bay. The night ends with a fantastic meal, lots of laughs and table tennis. We also celebrate my birthday with our Turkish friends and enjoy another great night out in Gocek. This week I've been finding some proper grommets for sails. These are brass and NS approved and i'll be using these for the jib reefing. We’ve made our last repairs and provisions, and it's now time to take the leap and head further north towards a reef scattered and vaguely charted coastline that is, for the most part, uninhabited. Mixed with feelings of excitement, we are wondering what on earth we are doing...but there's nothing quite like some miserable weather to ease you into life back on the ocean. We head to a small low island where we sit out a blow. However, the weather is showing no signs of improving, so we sail off in the wild conditions, where the wind and swell only increase before we navigate through two islands with outlying reefs. Our charts are completely useless as there is no detail of the area. So we switch to purely eyesight to navigate through coral towards the anchorage. There is nothing pleasant about it. C'est le départ pour 3 semaines de vacances à bord de notre Rush Oxten . On change déjà le programme du fait de la météo et nous nous dirigeons vers Ouistreham. L'avantage de ce port est d'avoir un ponton d'attente devant l'écluse qui permet d'entrer au port . Très bien accueilli par l'équipe d'Ouistreham. Après avoir réglé un petit souci avec l'anode de l'arbre d'hélice nous partons vers Courseulles ou nous ferons connaissance d'une autre famille qui comme nous passe leurs vacances sur leur bateau. Nous passerons une grande partie de nos vacances avec eux pour le plus grand bonheur des filles mais aussi des parents . #vancofamily #voilierenfamille #vacancesenbateau

#Après une super cala sur Minorque , on prend la route de Mahon. On va d'abord prendre un mouillage à l'entrée de mahon. Cala Teulera à 20mn en annexe de Mahon. Ensuite on se rapprochera de mahon, sur un ponton flottant face à la ville. Viendra ensuite le depart vert la Sardaigne. On quittera l'Espagne, les Baléares, pour l'Italie. Encore une étape de notre voyage.
