This is what we came to Scotland for! Living on a sailboat and travelling the world takes a lot of sacrifice and hard work, but when we drop the hook in stunning remote anchorages like this one, it makes it all worth it. We sail the Slate Islands from Seil to Obanm Scotland and then from Oban to Kerrera Island and anchor in front of a vert special spot Travis has had his eye on for a year now. Not only is this spot remote but only doable in the calmest conditions with being exposed to the North Atlantic swell. NEW VIDEOS EVERY FRIDAY! Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. If you would like to support with single donations click here - https://www.paypal.me/Plukky Yes I know the thumbnail doesn't quite match up to the video...so shoot me....pffff...missed! I tried to be the sexiest I could. Nothing but quality, crew having fun amongst the paradise of the south western Caribbean in a region of Panama called San Blas. Beautiful pristine beaches and islands literally in the middle of nowhere. Sometimes the girls are in bikinis, sometimes we are sailing, sometimes we spearfish and have beach barbecues. Basically fun in the sun. Did I mention crystal clear waters, coral and deserted islands? There is that as well. Plus a Wormwood 55 show up.....very nice catamaran The other YouTube channel was Calico Skies. Very nice people. Names are Bill and Grace. Just watch the video....can't give it all away. Hola from Panama, Hola from one of the biggest crossroads. We’re still in San Blas islands. It’s not easy to leave this paradise, but it’s time to go and soon we have to make a decision - where to go next. In the last 5,5 years we sail exactly half around the world. From Malaysia to Panama. In the first part of the film you see a glimpse to some spectacular moments of this adventure and in the second part we are sharing with you our thoughts about where to go next. April, 2017 we left Malaysia, Langkawi island. We crossed Malacca straight came to Sumatra, Indonesia. Did some small island hopping and left to cross the Indian Ocean. After short technical stop in Chagos we came to Madagascar. Madagascar was so beautiful, so we decided to spent more time there, but for the typhoon season we went to the main Africa, Tanzania. 6 months later on the way back we visited The Comores islands. Again another months in Madagascar. November 2018 we crossed notorious Mozambique Channel and after short weather stop in Bazaruto (Mozambique) arrived to Durban, South Africa. After rounding the Cape of Good Hope we went to west coast of Africa, Namibia. After 26 days on the way to cross the South Atlantic Ocean in July 2019 we arrived to Salvador de Bahia, Brazil. Then another 2500 nautical miles to Trinidad & Tobago. 2020. Lockdown in Grenada and 6 months on the boatyard in Carriacou. In June 2021 our catamaran was shining again. We went to Martinique to service a water maker, but our stay there was even shorter then we expected. The hurricane was coming to Martinique and we decided to flee down to Venezuelan coast and then straight to Colombia. 2022. Next stop - Panama and especially beautiful San Blas (Guna Yala) islands where we’re now spending the Atlantic hurricane season. To know what is the next, what are our sailing plans watch our film. Love, Peace and Ocean Breeze Tali and Guenther Follow us for more sailing videos and travel stories: https://youtube.com/UmadumSailing We’re a Russian-Austrian couple, live aboard sailors/cruisers and professional filmmakers with a genuine love for life. Cruising oceans since 25 years. This is our life. Two adventurous people sailing around the world. Living the dream so many people are only dreaming of. Sailing, traveling, adventure, freedome. This is the life we want to share with you. Making travel documentaries. Yes, there are so many sailing videos. In our films we show you not only the daily cruising life. But countries we explore. People we meet. Local culture and island life. Simple and healthy living. Music, cuisine, crafts, locals artists. We will be happy if our videos inspire you to explore a different way of living. In our case, we use IridiumGo and it's satellite network for all communications including weather routing and predictions, sending and recieving emails and messages, keeping friends and family updated on our location and importantly all aspects of vessel navigation. In this video, we will go through the hardware and software we use when sailing offshore. We have 3 main devices we use for sailing longer passages on Paikea. These are the mobile phone, the Android tablet and our Laptop. Each device is dedicated to a particular set of functions. We primarily use telephones in much the same way that we use them whilst onshore - for communicating with other people. Our tablets are the workhorse of Paikea and are for navigation and GPS tracking. The laptop is used when we require more processing power for example when we need to collect data for Polars, or download Grib files from PredictWind. We also use Raspberry Pi with QTVLM as a backup navigation aid. The other important aspect of responsible navigation is good record keeping. We keep a detailed log book and record all information of the trip every 3 hours. We sail to Moorea to wait for a weather window to return to Fakarava in the Tuamotus, but a hand injury while hiking forces us to return to Tahiti. We search for the Sanko Harvest and despite it being the second largest wreck dive in the world and the largest off the Australian coast cannot find it. We then move to Lucky Bay, the most quintessentially Australian place possible, with Kangaroos on the whitest beach in Australia (officially measured)! The sand is blindingly white made up of fine pure quartz that squeaks as you walk across it. Getting our scuba gear out we dive in crystal clear water where we find several Common Sea Dragons, with one male even carrying eggs (not the female), bait balls putting on spectacular show, Cuttlefish, several Blue Devils, and we also find the very elusive Leafy Sea Dragons. We’re Chris and Jo and we have been living on our Seawind 1260 since January 2019. In our first year we bring our yacht down the east coast of Australia and sail it out to New Caledonia. After cruising further north up the east coast of Australia in 2020, we decide to circumnavigate Australia during 2021 and 2022. We had previously owned fishing and water skiing boats, but after a couple years crewing in South Australia we decided to jump right in and make a sea change. We are just an ordinary Aussie couple exploring what this great world has to offer and hope that we can inspire others just as we were by watching other YouTube channels to follow our dreams. The letterbox spinnaker take down is the safest spinnaker drop when sailing offshore. It keeps people off the bow, keeps the forward hatch closed and it prevents the sail from getting away from the crew. Here is a good drone clip shot by Warner Nickerson of the J/111 C.A.G. letterboxing her A5 going around the Alma Grund Lighthouse, the last turning mark of the 350-mile AF Offshore race, also known as the Gotland Runt or Around Gotland Race.
This week has a little twist.... we're pushing off our regular Thursday boat tour video until Sunday. But, we don't want to leave your Thursday evening without a little dose of sailboat fun..... so Ran-day was able to produce his next episode in his boat ownership journey. This time it's an exciting look at his entire sailboat steering system with Dave Kirkpatrick of Edson Marine. Dave gives us his view on Ran-day's sailboat steering system and steering components and even discovers a bit of a surprise with his sailboat steering quadrant. Hopefully, you'll learn a bit about some of the elements of boat steering systems and what to look for if you're a boat owner or considering owning a boat. ======= CAPT Q MERCH ===== https://www.etsy.com/shop/CaptainQYachtHunter ============== Support us ============== Like what we're doing & want to help?? Highlights of what happened globally in the sport of sailing in the last 7 days. Launching CHARAL 2 is the result of a year-and a half of work by ten people united around the same objective: launching the most innovative and efficient boat possible. More than a new Imoca, a new chapter is opening for Jérémie and CHARAL in the world of offshore racing! This is the weekly Sailing World on Water, September 16, 2022. Highlights in the Global sport of Sailing in the past seven days. After three days of racing at the 32nd Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, the most determined and best prepared of the elite crews are coming to the fore. The racing so far has been of the highest quality, as the awe-inspiring fleet tackles the famed coastal courses of the Costa Smeralda and some classes take on intense shorter racetracks as well. With two days of racing remaining the pressure has ramped up. The first AC40 off the production line was unloaded from its ship and transported into the Emirates Team New Zealand base in a typically understated fashion last week. The boat represents a number of things for the Team and the Event. It will be centre stage for the Women and Youth America’s Cups in 2024, but prior to that it will be the first boat that Emirates Team New Zealand has sailed since race 9 of the 36th America’s Cup in March 2021. The Défi Azimut is an atypical event in the offshore race world. It brings together the IMOCA class and gathers the skippers of the Vendée Globe and Lorient-based company Azimut. Combining performance, innovation and strategy, it provides the best level of sailing competition with a lot of friendliness. it starts with a timed run. Here are a few of the runs. It was a moody start to the TF 35 Malcesine Cup as the bright, brisk, flat water conditions for which Lake Garda is famous, were interrupted by the tail-end of a storm that rumbled over the Italian lake. With the crews held ashore until thirteen hundred CET due to lack of wind, the cloud cover finally broke in the late-afternoon, allowing for one practice race and one point-scoring race to be sailed. Meet Ana Paterson. A recent recruit, Ana has joined INEOS Britannia for the team’s 37th America’s Cup campaign as a Graduate Engineer after studying Marine Engineering at Newcastle University. Ana’s passion for sailing, coupled with her interest and ability to excel in engineering, makes her the perfect match for the INEOS Britannia design team graduate role. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is an event like no other. Organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, in conjunction with the International Maxi Association, it dates back to 1980. The partnership with title sponsor Rolex began in 1984. A walk along the docks, in front of the striking Clubhouse, offers an insight into the quality of boats and sailors in attendance. The Royal Ocean Racing Club announces the inaugural RORC Caribbean 600 Series which will be based in Antigua from 14th to 24th February 2023. The series will include three days of racing followed by the main event; the 14th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600. The RORC Caribbean 600 Series is open to boats racing under the IRC, CSA and MOCRA Class Rules, plus other suitable classes. The Second day was more generous with wind at the Class A European Championship, scheduled until Friday on Upper Lake Garda, with Circolo Vela Arco, organising the event. The open foil fleet was able to race three more races, bringing the total to five in all, in average southerly conditions from 13 knots upwards. And in the fierce flying fleet there was a renewed challenge between the two world champions Mischa Heemskerk of the Netherlands and Australian Steve Brewin, who today scored three firsts against the Dutchman's 2-4-2, thus moving into second place overall, two points behind Brewin.Add a comment...

+ info : https://www.LaGazelleDesSables.com Tel & WhatsApp : +33 (0)661381780 Suivez-nous sur : Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/AteliersLaGazelleDesSables/ Twitter : https://twitter.com/ateliergazelle Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/la_gazelle_des_sables/

Welcome aboard for an afternoon sail off Aurora Bay in southern Door County with a mild breeze making for a quiet and enjoyable sail. We are still working out a couple of things, but we are getting more familiar and comfortable with the boat. We've notice that the boat has some considerable "prop walk" when moving slow as when leaving the dock and returning. Something that will take some getting used to. We hope these videos provide you with an insight into the joy and wonder of sailing and an understanding that if we can do this - so can you. There are multiple opportunities to get on the water and experience the wonder of sailing. Give it a try. It may change your life! Thanks again for watching. Please give us a LIKE if you would. And if you haven't already SUBSCRIBED, please consider doing so. For us, a home is not a home without a piano, we have always had one and of all the things we had to give up to live on a yacht we weren't prepared to live without a piano, so we put one onboard (see episode 16, link below) We've now been living and sailing full time for the past few months, people have been asking how the piano is holding up so we thought we would record a video of us using it. This is a live unedited performance of a blues tune, 'In the Dark', I learnt this from Nina Simone & Norah Jones however I believe it was originally by Lil Green under the name 'Romance In The Dark' We are a family of five with plans for an epic adventure, sailing around the world. We have bought a boat we have to gut it, rebuild it, sell all of our possessions and have the guts to cast off. Follow our adventures. This episode finds us underway to Bocas del Toro, Panama, with El Capitan hoisting the spinnaker in a bold or stupid move, right ahead of an oncoming squall! The overnight sail was spent dodging a handful more large, powerful squalls on the horizon, one of which finally caught up with us... Luckily we made it safely to our stopover, Isla Escudo de Veraguas and caught an opening in the clouds to soak in some sunshine, as well as our tropical Caribbean surroundings! If you like our videos and want to support Bohemia's bar tab, you can make a contribution at http://www.patreon.com/sailingbohemia. Peter and Tom are gay sailors who learned to sail relatively recently in the San Francisco Bay, before casting off the lines to cruise Mexico and sail around the world! Thank you!

Watch the fun reunion between parents Schipperkes and their 2 daughters living in Phuket ! Somehow they saw us when we landed on the floating pier bellow the Yacht Club …. See how happy the girls were when sniffing all of us! Later they all played together at the YC while we had a drink with the owners of the girls. And when we left, the puppies did not try to follow us, they were happy to remain in their new families. Filmed in Feb 2020.

G'day everyone from the Empress Crew! In this video you'll see us slog it out over an entire winter of work on the hard. We work together to give Empress and lovely new bottom job, Michelle tackles the 70's brown in the aft cabin, re-upholsters the cushions in the saloon and gives the sail cover some lettering. We remove the solar panels to bring in some light. We do all sorts of jobs to get her ready in time for Splash Day! Oh yeah, I hope you like our new snazzy intro for the season. Enjoy!
