After a great stay in Finakounda we continue our journey around the Peloponnese heading towards Pilos. While approaching the small town of Methoni we are immediately drawn in by the magnificent ruins of the castle/fortress. Deciding immediately this cannot be missed we anchor in the bay and explore this fascinating place. Our journey then continues on to Pilos where we drop the hook outside the very busy abandoned marina and spend a few days exploring the castle, museum and town, where Dee almost steps on a snake! Next up is Zante otherwise known as Zakinthos, made famous by Shipwreck bay where the Albanian cargo vessel Panagiotis lays forlorn on the beach. We hire a scooter and zoom around this beautiful island. I purchased an 1965 O’Day Ospray day sailer. Now she needs some TLC to get her back in the water and sailing again after 10 years on the hard. Day 1, we clean her up and step the mast. Am ersten Tag des letzten Tourstops der österreichischen Segel-Bundesliga waren die Wetterbedingungen äußerst wechselhaft. Die Seglerinnen und Segler mussten zuerst mit wenig Wind und wolkenbedeckten Himmel, dann mit mehr Wind und Sonnenschein und letztendlich mit Regenschauer und deutlich mehr Wind zurecht kommen. Der Gäste vom Segelclub Mattsee kamen damit am besten zurecht und legten mit 4 ersten Plätzen nach 4 Wettfahrten beim letzten Tourstop gut vor. The sailboat projects continue on. We are both full blast on the sanders with Natalie sanding all the Teak our sailboat has to offer and James continues the dirty job of sanding the hull. We're at anchor, it's turned grey and chilly outside, and we want a delicious, warming meal. Black Beans and Rice hits the spot! This recipe is super simple and fast, and it will satisfy even the biggest appetite. Don't have the ingredients listed? No problem! Substitute whatever vegetables you have (fresh, frozen, or canned). Black Beans and Rice INGREDIENTS 1 cup of rice 2 TBSP oil 1 medium onion, chopped 1 bell pepper, chopped 1/2 medium zucchini, chopped 7-10 small mushrooms chopped 2-4 garlic cloves, chopped 3-4 tsp cumin 1 TBSP oregano 4-6 tsp red wine vinegar 1-2 tsp Tabasco 1/4 cup red wine 2 cans black beans, drained 1 can corn, drained 1 red chilli or jalapeño, optional Optional toppings 1/2 avocado, sliced shredded cheese small handful of cherry tomatoes, chopped 1/2 small red onion, chopped tortilla chips DIRECTIONS • Cook 1 cup of rice according to the directions, • Heat oil in a pan over a medium high heat. When hot, add the onion, red pepper, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir and cook until just soft. • Add garlic to the pan and cook for 1-2 minutes • Add the zucchini and mushroom and cook until just softened • Add the black beans and corn. Stir well. • Add the cumin, oregano, and more salt and pepper to taste. Stir well. • Add the chilli flakes, Tabasco, and red wine. Stir well, lower heat and cook for 5-10 minutes. • Add the beans and rice to a plate and whatever toppings you like. #169 ✍️24 août 2022, mon Amour est déperfusé depuis deux jours. Heureusement que nous avons pu avoir cette place à la marina. Sans ça, nous aurions certainement été en galère pour faire venir l’infirmière quotidiennement au bateau. Le staff a été adorable. Black Lion au quai d’honneur, nous pouvons nous permettre de le laisser quelques jours pour une convalescence toute trouvée ! Manuella et Guillaume que nous connaissions uniquement par messages, nous ont contacté il y a quelques temps pour nous offrir 4 jours et 3 nuits à bord d’un de leur van aménagé, « Tropical Van ». L’idée nous a immédiatement enchantée ! J’ai toujours mon âme d’enfant ! Je me souviens des cabanes que l’on aime faire quand nous sommes petits. Ben là, j’ai l’impression de partir en « vacances » avec ma cabane ! Une version bateau à roues et sans voiles ! Le circuit est organisé, du moins nous avons les grandes lignes sur Polarsteps. Nos bienfaiteurs nous ont briefé sur la prise en main. Capitaine est aux commandes, je copilote. Pourtant, il le sait que je n’ai pas le sens de l’orientation ! Alors forcément, ce qui devait arriver, arriva ! Je me suis plantée ! La chute que nous devions faire devait être accessible, facile qu’ils disaient ! Bien évidemment, j’ai choisi la troisième de ce Carbet, celle avec une heure de marche, le sol plein de gadoue, les roches glissantes et tout le tintouin. On avait dit, reprise tranquille ! Néanmoins, le cadre est superbement verdoyant et l’exercice ne peut qu’être profitable en compensation d’une séance de kiné. Il ne faut quand même pas abuser, je ferais seule, l’escalade du dernier tronçon. « Il n’y a pas de hasard, il n’y a que des rendez-vous », j’en suis convaincue. Même mon Tchoupi qui, à l’époque, trouvait ces histoires de « signes », saugrenus, est troublé par la providence de la vie. On appelle ça la synchronicité, des « faux » hasards, des coïncidences qui font sens. Un évènement qui survient à un moment donné, quand on ne s’y attend pas, mais qui pourtant résonne comme une évidence. Nous aurions pu passer à cet endroit 5 minutes plus tôt ou plus tard, la rencontre ne se serait pas produite. Mais, nous nous sommes arrêtés là, juste à cet instant précis, celui où elle était là ! Elle s’appelle Natacha. Quand elle nous a vu descendre de notre van, elle n’a pas fait tilt de suite. C’est en nous voyant nous approcher d’elle, près de la roulote où nous avions choisi de manger, qu’elle nous a interpellé : - « Black Lion ! » - oui, c’est bien nous ! Jacouille et Tchoupi ! Ça fait des mois qu’elle nous suit avec son amie et la petite Lena. Elles rêvent d’aventure et de voyages, de bateaux et d’horizon. Hier encore, elles parlaient de Jonathan, elles le suivent, lui aussi. N’étant pas sur Facebook, ni Instagram, le différé des vidéos fait qu’elle n’était pas au courant de l’accident de Cyril. Nous lui expliquons en quelques mots. Et quand nous lui disons qu’une des hypothèses émises par ses médecins est que la bactérie pourrait provenir des dents, ni une, ni deux, elle lui donne rendez-vous un quart d’heure après dans son cabinet ! Elle est dentiste. Le diagnostic, mon capitaine s’en douté un peu. Les deux dents qu’il avait perdu en Afrique du sud pouvaient nous le faire soupçonner. Même s’il n’y a pas de certitude que le mal vienne de là, il faut faire quelque chose. Généreusement, Natacha s’occupe de tout. J’en ai les larmes aux yeux. C’est dingue ! Même le rendez-vous avec le radiologue coïncide … Vue sur les Saintes, nous prenons nos marques, on s’organise. Réveil à Rivière sens, avant de commencer notre journée de découverte par le bain des amoureux. Vestiges du passé thermal de la commune de Gourbeyre en activité de 1920 à 1960, les bains de Dolé font partie du cours dérivé de la rivière de Grande Anse. Le bassin principal aménagé en forme de cœur aurait, parait-il des vertus dermatologiques et antirhumatismales. Cool si on fait abstraction des risques liés aux amibes ! Ces micro-organismes qui se développent dans l’eau entre 25 et 30ºC et qui peuvent, même si les cas sont faibles, contaminer gravement l’homme. Question infection, on a donné ! Plus Ouest, vers Bouillante, nous nous dirigeons vers les bains du même nom. Eux aussi sont, vous l’aurez deviné, chauds, mais ici, la mer vient s’y mélanger, et les bienfaits se ressentent immédiatement. Il faudrait presque inventer, sur le modèle des guides des mouillages, le guide des terriages de Guadeloupe, parce que là, nous venons de trouver un petit coin idéal. L’anse Vinti. Hog Cay is a fabulous island to spend a week lobstering, spearfishing, hiking and sea glass hunting. We loved the remoteness yet strong internet (Strongest in the Bahamas yet!), the other cruisers who are all unique as this is not a destination for the faint of heart, and the island life. We spent a couple of days spearfishing and lobster hunting out in the ocean before the winds picked up. And, on windy days, we took advantage of hiking the island and searching for sea glass. The ocean side had the the perfect environment for tumbling glass into perfectly shaped, frosted masterpieces. This is the first interview we have done since uploading our "Leopard 45 review series" We have had multiple owners contact us and request to submit information or sit down for an interview to share their story, since we began to publicly discuss the issues with our hull and the warranty process in general. Among the topics discussed were some of the issues he’s experienced on his hull, his thoughts on the Leopard 45 catamaran design and prolonged warranty process and opinions on some of the poor workmanship discovered aboard both new yachts. If quality control and the warranty process is improved it will increase the value of everyone's asset.
