With a week of "shore leave" with friends on Hamilton Island coming up, we decided to leave The Doghouse in our marina berth at Mackay to save a few bob. In this episode we make our way from Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays south to Mackay, catching up with friends at Macona Inlet and Gulnare Inlet, before making the passage down to Keswick Island where we spend a couple of days snorkelling and taking in the sights. Wir rechnen mit etwas mehr als 24 Stunden unter Segeln. Allerdings haben wir die Strömung unterschätzt. Mit drei fast baugleichen Booten starten wir. Und wie immer, wenn drei Boote in die gleiche Richtung segeln, heißt das: Regatta! Fast die gesamte Strecke begleiten uns Delfine. Tags wie nachts.

I chose a christening ceremny as there is absolutely no record anywhere that this boat has ever had a name. The previous owner said he never named her and when he bought her she had no name too, so a christening it is! Lets hope the Gods are happy!!!

When we were wintering in Port Townsend we went out sailing at least once a week. On this occasion, Shane was having so much fun we stayed out all day sailing. For fun, we moored off of Fort Worden, rather than going back to the marina. I had planned on a fun Valentine's Day dinner for the family. That Christmas we dined at the Beast's restaurant at Disney World with our family. So, I had wanted to do something fun with that. We watched Beauty and the Beast while at anchor. The meal was a version of beef ragout, cheese Soufflé, pan en Flambé, and the gray stuff.

Episode 1. Sailing The Great Lakes! Bay City, Michigan to Chicago, IL in November

** NOW SOLD ** ‘Flight’ is a 2004 Beneteau Oceanis 373 Clipper. Flight is the two-cabin option with a big double aft cabin, generous galley, very comfortable saloon, dedicated navigation station, forward double cabin and a huge head / bathroom with full stand up headroom and separate shower stall. The cockpit has excellent access to the water or dock via the lifting helm seat and walk-through transom. Standing rigging and lifelines were replaced in 2019, new batteries in 2021 and new thru hull fittings in 2019. The Bimini and dodger were new in November 2018 and new wheel cover just recently. There is a chart plotter at the helm, auto-pilot, upgraded sails (recently vaccuwashed and new UV strip), electric head with holding tank, lazy jacks, and electric anchor winch. The Volvo engine was professionally installed new in just December 2016 and has logged only around 100 hours.
