In this episode Eddie, Connie, swab, and swabella from sv Jean Grey join as crew. We cancel our first attempt to depart due to fog and get off to a little bit of a late start. After topping off at the fuel dock, we motor to Avalon. We spotted 2 whales (species yet to be identified) and had a smooth pickup at the mooring just after sunset. We left Avalon early Christmas Eve morning with an easy return in little to no winds. Happy Holidays!

Episode 13: Iceland: where our NOMAD journey began Happy Holidays whatever it is you may be celebrating at this time of year. Peace be with you and yours. 💕 If you’re interested in where we started our journey this is a sneak peak. Once we sold the house and most of our stuff we set upon a journey of a lifetime. Iceland had been on our bucket list for some time and it spiked when the volcano became active. So we flew to Iceland, rented a van and started north on the ring road…the rest is history. A few places we’d highly recommend is The Beer Spa Blue Lagoon As many waterfalls as you can smash in your trip Glacier Lake Any active volcano if possible Try the ice cream, it’s amazing!!! Also try Skyr (Icelandic yogurt) We rented the van for 3 weeks staying in campgrounds as we could find them. We tried to schedule out our adventure a few days in advance to make sure and maximize our time. We hiked several volcanoes, stopped at beautiful beaches , experienced some of the clearest water for snorkeling and also the coldest water we’ve been in. Had a romantic beer bath at The Beer Spa and followed it up with an amazing dinner! The entire coastline changes as you move around the island. Each providing a slightly different feel and epic original and grand beauty. Iceland feels as close to magic as we can fathom. It captured our hearts and we will go back. The pictures in the video do not do it justice and are only a snippet of everything we captured. Simply amazing, rugged and raw landscapes while also being lush and green and full of life. Sailing 40 miles offshore in sporty conditions to an amazing atoll called Lady Musgrave Island. By pure chance we happened to be visiting while 3 different types of Turtles were nesting, what luck! Also the birds were at it, Black Bodies and Shearwater nests everywhere. At night the spectacle unveiled itself and luckily we had some good infrared glasses and could witness all the action. New beginnings are aways a struggle. Quitting a job, selling a house, packing up, selling or giving away all of our belongings is stressful. À la surface de l’eau, pas une ride. Il me suffit que de quelques brasses pour atteindre le dinguy con-voité, grimper dessus, le détacher et revenir illico, ni vu, ni connu, de la même manière que j’y suis arrivée, la concernée halée au-tour de ma taille. Pour le reste, je laisse à mon capitaine le soin du scenario de la planque. Lui qui n’était pas chaud au premier abord pour plonger à l’eau, attend maintenant, impatiemment derrière l’œilleton de sa caméra pour voir la réaction de son fils ! Les rayons du soleil percent, l’eau en est que plus belle. Im-mergés, notre masque sur le visage, le monde sous-marin nous absorbe. Qui observe le plus l’autre ? Les poissons qui nous regardent interrogateurs, les raies qui, impavides se laissent filmer, ou les tortues, si gentilles !
