This week’s adventure took us to Kefalonia, Greece. Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands and has gorgeous water with actual sand on their beaches! This may not seem like a big deal, but so much of the shoreline in Europe is rock. The kids had a blast playing and we saw all kinds of sea creatures - including a sea turtle! I had a blast sailing in near perfect conditions. Kefalonia needs to be on your short list of islands to visit if you’re in Greece. The only downside was saying goodbye to Greg and Kerianne. We loved sharing Greece with them! It’s always hard to say goodbye to friends from home. Thanks for watching. See you next week!

This episode begins with an exceptionally rolly morning on the hook. Conditions have changed completely overnight and we are rocking and rolling so much that our buddy boat One Life can see the keel of Calico Skies! We decide to set a stern anchor to help steady us out but first have to dig out all the bottom paint we've been sailing around with out of our port side sail locker. Once we retrieve the anchor our friend Gary picks it up in his dinghy to take it out a ways for us. We are moving so much it would be very challenging to get the dinghy in and OneLife's was dinghy was more accessible being on the hip and ready to lower by halyard. After we set the stern anchor the motion is substantially reduced and we can resume our morning routine. Suddenly we flash to the evening and Bill explains that Grace has left Calico Skies and departed on sv Delos to help out. Over the last couple of days Karin has become increasingly ill and they decide to head to the closest town, 50 miles away. Without knowing when a reunion would eventually happen Grace chose to hop on last minute since Brian was solo sailing and parenting. On Delos the autopilot craps out early on and Brian and Grace hand steer all the way to town. Meanwhile Bill is solo sailing Calico Skies, going slower then Delos and always about a day behind. He manages to fly the Spinnaker by himself by adapting his regular tactics for raising the sail and is treated to pleasant conditions. On Delos we get Kazza to the doctor and she stays on island for treatment while Grace watches Sierra. After 4 days Bill and Grace are reunited in Honeymoon Cove, just south of the town with the doctor. Kazza is on the mend and road to recovery. We wake up in the most beautiful anchorage we've stayed in to date in the Sea of Cortez and are treated to an absolutely splendid morning on our first day back together surrounded by gorgeous cliffs and deep incredibly clear turquoise water.

Hello friends, It's been awhile. The Starship Friendship vanished suddenly into almost complete silence. A rogue wave and very long story was unfolding beneath the waves. Novel times indeed. That tale is more than I can share now. But this video has been awaiting release for some time. This episode was produced while I was crewing aboard sailing vessel Hurrah. Almost all of the raw footage captured along our journey was safely stored aboard the Starship many miles away. The footage on my laptop was all I had to work with. This episode is about our Christmas in the Caribbean. A small chapter of our journey held up until now. There are still many great sailing stories resting within the old footage and I hope to revisit them someday. For now, this is it... Out of chronological sequence - yet set for the season. We sold all our belongings and carried out our dream of buying a sail boat to become a liveaboard family. This video highlights the process we went through to becoming boat owners. Starting our journey in France, we found a Beneteau First 42.7s racing yacht which we have bought and made our own home. The sailboat that we chose to live our sailing and cruising lifestyle in the Caribbean and beyond. In the section in beginning that has bad sound we describe how we put an offer on the Mango Special from the last video and it was excepted. Dave flew to Ft. Lauderdale, FL for the survey, which was a disaster. The generator wouldn't start and the batteries died. Also we were miles up the New River and it would take all day to get out to sea and back.

Happy Boxing Day!! In this week's video we go from -7 to +14 degrees C all in a week, crazy times! The heating is still broken, I've ran out of fuel for the stove, and the shop's shut. Wonderful. But hey, the sun is shining, and it's nearly Christmas break!  In the small village of San Isidro, located on the Philippine island of Luzon, the residents had always struggled to make ends meet. Many of them worked as farmers or fisherman, but the income from these occupations was often not enough to support their families. One day, a group of enterprising villagers Contacted black gold sands to earn some extra money. They had heard about a company that was willing use dredging equipment to clean out the local river, which had become clogged with debris and sediment over the years. The villagers were excited at the prospect of earning some extra cash, and they quickly set to work learning how to operate the dredging equipment. It was hard work, but they were determined to succeed. As they began to clear the river, the villagers were amazed at the amount of debris and sediment that had accumulated over the years. They worked tirelessly, using the dredging equipment to scoop up the muck and deposit it onto the riverbank. As the river began to clear up, the villagers noticed that the water was flowing more freely and the fish were returning in larger numbers. The villagers were proud of the work they had done, and they were grateful for the opportunity to earn some extra money to support their families. Over time, the small community of San Isidro became known for its hardworking and innovative residents, who had used dredging equipment to not only clean up their river, but also to improve their own lives. And as the villagers continued to work together, they knew that they had the power to create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
