Is this the end of our journey? What a change in scenery we had this week. Going from the tranquil grasses and trees to a full-on industrial landscape, what a shock to the senses. We had to deal with major shipping lanes, movable bridges on schedules, planning our own navigation in open water and even a whoop 🚨 whoop from the Naval police. As this journey is coming to a close, we have had the opportunity to reflect on all the things we have seen, done, and learned in the past 12 days. This journey was the beginning of our new direction in life. It could have broken us and gone completely sideways, making us not want to continue on this voyage. However, as you all have seen while you are joining us along on this adventure, we couldn’t be happier and more confident with the decision we have made to embrace this liveaboard lifestyle. We are stretching our sails out and discovering the world, and that is exactly where we need to be. Thank you for being here, for watching and supporting our channel. We left Conch Cay later than usual because we thought it would only be a three-hour cruise to Nuevitas Rocks. It only took us two-and-a-half-hours, but there was no safe place to anchor overnight! No Problem! No Bush Cay is not far. Guess what? No safe anchorage there either! Still not worried. Rocky Bank is in sight so, let’s go! Again, no safe anchorage! We have only one more chance, before the sun sets. Thank Neptune, Pear Cay has a safe spot in calm weather to spend the night. We got securely anchored and still had about 30 minutes of daylight left, so QP did a bit of fishing. She caught two Queen Triggerfish. She said they are too pretty to keep, so she let them go! The next morning the current was so strong that I was too afraid of us being swept out to sea to swim to the island. We waited till noon for the tide to lessen and hopped in. The current was still very strong! Willard pulled me to the island where the current was a bit slower. Swimming was so difficult that we didn’t take many videos, but the area would be awesome in calm weather and slack tide! There are many beautiful fishes, and they swim much better than I do! Willard pulled me back to Freya and we headed for Comer Channel. Finally, the tide changed, and we made great time with the current pushing us towards Comer Channel. Next update will be from the anchorage on the east end of Comer Channel! Have a great day everyone!

I can't wait to start sailing around in the nation's capital, but before I do I need to fix a few things that were broken on the way from FL. So I took a little time to get some necessary repairs done.

Time to lift anchor and get out! This week we are anchoring in what seems like a paradise for a sailor but it’s not! Boatlife in this part of the Mediterranean Sea may look like a dream but in reality, it is far from ideal. Even though the region is beautiful for sailing, everything in this town requires a climb up. No stores for provisioning or such are within easy reach. Once we made the ascend, we are looking for a hungry sailor restaurant to treat ourselves to one single carbonara. And just like that, we have been stripped of our weekly budget. 37 Euros for a single meal: We need to get out of here! But we won’t let this damper our mood as sailing life can be unexpected.

The Caledonian Canal is 60 miles from the south entrance at Corpach (Fort William) to Inverness and traverses the famous Loch Ness. It was opened in 1822. We navigated it 200 years later.

The last you saw of us, we were just starting to place in the bulkheads of our settee, but now we're so much further. Within that area, Matt has worked on the actual seats to our settee, as well as the backs of the transverse portions. (The fore/aft ones will get done once we have our compression post in) Then I go through bulkheads 5 and 6 to get them sanded down and begin applying fairing compound. Anything we can do to begin turning all that green foam into white surfaces! Lastly, Matt bonds the seats of the settee to the front face (vertical portion). We left Wind Therapy at the Safe Harbor Cove Haven Marina in Barrington, RI and flew to Utah to spend some time with Dax and Jody on their house boat at Lake Powell. Tony and Lidia joined us. You might remember them from our first trip to The Bahamas in early 2021. We spent the day at the St. George Day spa, experienced first-hand a 10-minute Utah hurricane, and spent a few days speeding through the canyons of Lake Powell. We also had some skinny dipping and naked time. Yes, naked time. As they say, "What happens in Vegas (Lake Powell), stays in Vegas (Lake Powell). I rode a jet ski for the first time in my life! How did I get to be 57 years old growing up in Florida, and I've never ridden a jet ski? And Jeff flipped Jody's Polaris Razer. Ugh!!! He wasn't hurt, thank goodness. Can't say the same for the Razer. So, we fled to Vegas where we attended the Big Blues Bender for the 3rd time. We love it! All of our music in this episode came from video I recorded on my phone during the shows. We spent some time with our pal, Damon Fowler, and we made some new friends. Dough Woolverton, the trumpet player for the Bender Brass Band is one of our new BFFs. So talented and a super nice guy. He introduced us to Jimmy Carpenter and Mark Early. The whole Brass Band is incredible. These guys learn about 200 songs in the two weeks before the show, and they spend four days running from stage to stage backing up artists who didn't bring their bands to Vegas. The Rio is the perfect place to complete boat projects and in this season we were able to upgrade our boat in 8 major areas: salon facelift (adding more counter space), removing the oversized salon table and replacing it with a smaller swivel table, making a deeper seating area and lounge for comfort and overnights on passage, adding a fuel filter to the dinghy, removing the old windlass, fiberglassing and reinforcing the anchor locker and installing a new windlass, getting dinghy chaps and “roughing” up the outboard engine cover, making a bimini hole for rainwater collection, changing out our liferaft and doing a full rigging inspection! Wow this anchorage was beautiful. We sailed our catamaran sailboat to a remote spot on the island of Espírito Santo in the Sea Of Cortez and had the place all to ourselves. Ever wondered what it’s like to race on a 100 Footer? With the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race just days away we look back at an opportunity we were given at this year’s Hamilton Island Race Week to get a taste of that experience, aboard Andoo Comanche. Getting to sit on the rail of one of the world’s best-known racing yachts with some of sailing’s finest talent, on a breezy race around the spectacular Whitsunday Islands, was quite a rush!

Alfa Romeo (now Black Jack), Wild Oats XI, Leopard 3 Super Maxis led the fleet out of Sydney on December 26 2009 into a race of many weather transitions. This full documentary covers the Big Boat start and the Second Starting line where it was upper pandermonium. The large number of boats in this fleet saw collisions, barging, penalty turns and, it's all here in our coverage. Never before had we seen such action included in a video in the race's modern history. Included are interviews with the major players, Neville Creighton, Mike Slade, Mark Richards, Niklas Zennstron, Tim Powell, Ray Davies, Steve Hayles, Bob Steel, Matt Allen, Grant Warrington (see his new mast rebuild), Gordon McGuire, Ray Roberts, Alistair Moore, John Clinton, Ludde Ingvall, Mike Broughton (in an onboard bath) and handicap winner Andrew Saies (Two True) South Australia.
