Nous vous l'avions annoncé en mai 2022 : Fontaine Pajot et Guy Couach ont signé un partenariat de production des MY4.S, des MY5 et des M6. L'objectif du constructeur de catamarans est évidemment d'augmenter ses capacités de production et le site de Guy Couach, en bord de mer, était une excellente opportunité. En septembre, un bâtiment du constructeur basé à Gujan-Mestras a donc été entièrement vidé afin d'accueillir les moules et l'outillage nécessaire à la construction à la chaîne. Il n'aura fallu que deux mois pour que le site soit opérationnel - ce qui a impliqué de longs acheminements de matériels par barge de La Rochelle au Bassin d'Arcachon. Le premier MY construit sur le nouveau site est un 6 ; il a été mis à l'eau à Gujan puis a rejoint Arcachon pour les derniers préparatifs avant de rejoindre La Rochelle pour sa livraison. Un deuxième powercat, un MY5 est déjà sorti des bâtiments. A dozen dolphins swim with our boat in the Chesapeake Bay! We head south through Virginia towards Norfolk and complete our journey through the Chesapeake Bay. A railroad bridge is stuck down, so we have to anchor early in the afternoon in Portsmouth, VA. Just my thoughts on sailing a Precision 18 sailboat with and without an autotiller after purchasing one for my third season with the boat. Overall, I'd say an autotiller is very nice to have, but not a necessity in most situations. We had an amazing week finishing our journey to Gibraltar. We came across too many dolphin pods to count! There were hundreds of them! Such an amazing feeling to have them travel with you for a while. We saw jellyfish and an enormous sea turtle as well. We also tried our hand at deep sea fishing on the Strait of Gibraltar to catch tuna. When we arrived back in Gibraltar, Gina and Ruby were waiting for us at the dock. It was so nice to be reunited with them again. It was only about a week of being apart, but it's always tough to not be together as a whole unit. We got there on Ruby's birthday too, so we got to really concentrate on what makes her so special. We're so lucky to have her in our family. This has been such an incredible six months sailing in this part of the world. We've had too many life-changing experiences to count. Come along as we head north to Lady Musgrave Island, avoiding flooding and more stormy weather. We have a great time exploring the island, spotting lots of flourishing bird life and get to witness the magic of baby turtle hatchlings making their way to sea. There is a calm before the storm as severe lightning catches up to us and gives us the fright of our life.
As we head off into the high arctic, this is the first leg of our trip to Svalbard. We leave Ardrossan on the west coast of Scotland and make our way up to Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides before the 500-nautical mile crossing of the North Sea.
