Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V700 with a Rode External mic with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action, underwater scenes and small blogging is done with two Osmo action cams. Some boat shots are done with a Dji gimbal camera. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World. We've seen so many beautiful places throughout the world in the past six months, but I'm not sure that Southern Utah isn't as beautiful as anything we've seen while sailing throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. This week we took a two-hour drive to Bryce Canyon National Park. We live so close, but our kids had never been there! It did not disappoint. The hiking was incredible, and the views are simply breathtaking. It's a little slice of heaven here in Southern Utah. Thanks for watching! We'll see you next week.
The BEST SAILING EXPERIENCE You'll Ever Have (ALMOST) | Harbors Unknown Ep. 89 Some days the sailing life really is amazing, but of course there has to be a wrinkle in the story. Proper anchoring is what keeps us, our home and everything we have safe. We absolutely must find good holding, but sometimes it’s not that easy. And as we’ve mentioned before we’ve ordered a new anchor because the one we have isn’t that good. But we’re intent on exploring this area, especially since there’s a bay nearby rumored to be full of dolphin. We’re just going to have believe our anchor will keep us safe. Thanks so much for joining us this week! If you enjoy the video give it a thumbs up, leave us a comment down below and be sure to subscribe to our channel. A huge thank you to our Patrons, we are so grateful for your support! If you’d like additional content & real time updates consider joining the Harbors Unknown community on Patreon. https://www.patreon.com/harborsunknown If you're new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin & Fabio Potenti, & our dog Yoda. We're a small family living aboard our catamaran, Wanderlust, sailing to Harbors Unknown. Exploring the world, connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how great food can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. Seeking to balance the desire to explore and travel to beautiful, remote locations while leaving no footprint, minimizing the Hawthorne effect of the observers who change the environment she or he observes. We hope to inspire people and showcase the possibility of living an alternative lifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment, all while keeping it real. Sharing the trials and tribulations of living off-grid, acknowledging the discomfort of detoxing from the modern world, finding pleasure in the subtleties of nature and joy in simplicity. Attempting to understand what makes the world tick and tock but also trying to gain a deeper comprehension of ourselves and identify what will satisfy that hunger for further exploration, for purpose. We have set off on our voyage sailing around the world, exploring the beautiful waters of South Florida, the Florida Keys, Bahamas, the US East Coast, and Panama. Storm after storm after storm sailing in the Sea Of Cortez has us pretty exhausted and beat up. We find shelter in Puerto Escondido and make our way back to Agua Verde to enjoy some downtime as we recharge our human batteries and mingle with the locals and fellow travelers on calm beaches with beautiful clear waters. Our Rocna Vulcan anchor has been amazing for us as we battle these seasonal northerly winds. Very thankful for that purchase before we departed San Diego to sail Baja California, Mexico in our Gemini 105mc pocket catamaran. Our daughter is a full blown toddler now which is a lot of fun and a lot of work having a kid on a sailboat. What will this adventure bring us next?
In this video we get ready to leave Carriacou 💙 we head across to Sandy Island for one last night and then on to Hillsborough. Karen catches a taxi back to Tyrell Bay to check out and then we are on our way up the coast towards Anse La Roche for the night before we head across to Union Island. Unfortunately Anse La Roche Bay was FULL. We aren’t used to last minute change of plans like that. Fortunately we took it in our stride, plotted a new course and headed to Petite Martinique for the night. This is very unusual for us because we usually get into quite a spin when plans change in the matter of a few minutes but for some reason these plans changed, fell into place and we were rewarded with seeing a beautiful new island that wasn’t on our list of islands o visit! In sailing your plans are constantly changing, I don’t think you realise how rapidly until you are doing it full time. This is something we are learning to take in our stride as we have a few control freaks onboard that love a good plan to stick to, which often isn’t possible with the ever changing elements that are involved in sailing. Petite Martinique was a quaint tiny island and we are glad we stopped there for the night. The next day we stopped at Mopion Island, a tiny little sand bar between Petite Martinique and Union island. We dropped anchor just off of its shore, jumped in the dingy, did a few loops of the tiny little island known for its sole feature - a grass umbrella and headed back to Saoirse to carry on across to Union island. Once again plans changed, we didn’t head into Clifton like we originally wanted to to check in because it was also SUPER busy so we headed around to Frigate island/ Ashton Bay. We dropped anchor in a beautiful, quiet and unique little bay.
In this episode we continue our crossing of the Atlantic on a J133 sailboat, with four crew. See some of the daily routine, including: - what we eat; - how we cook; - dealing with problems; - what sail plan we used (what sail configuration); - and some other amusing activities to keep us from getting too bored. Thanks for following! Video captured on Samsung Galaxy S10 and A12 phones, by a GoPro 8 (any underwater shots), and a Mavic Mini 2 drone (air shots). Butch Ulmer discusses the Sam Wetherill Race, Larchmont Yacht Club’s Edlu Race, the Block Island Race and the Annapolis Newport Race. These four events are an excellent shakedown series for a team preparing for the Newport to Bermuda or Marblehead to Halifax races. Tune in to hear their similarities, differences, and a few anecdotes as well! Sailing World on Water Feb 03.23 INEOS Capsize, LRPP at Speed, Elvira Llabres, Boat Dusseldorf, Finn
Subscribe, Share, Like, Check "All". Thank you. Highlights of what happened globally in the sport of sailing in the last 7 days. Capsizing is a welcome diversion for the America's Cup Challengers and INEOS Britannia joined the club this week in Palma. It was a typically, understated affair as usual for the Brits. This is the story. This is your Sailing Highlights show, the World on Water, February 03, 2023. Another demonstration of power sailing today from the very top drawer by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team who have thoroughly got to grips with all the nuances of their LEQ12 that they make sailing in big breeze look almost mundane. The first event of 2023 for the new Olympic foiling windsurfing discipline reached its halfway point today with a change in the leadership of the women's fleet. Sharon Kantor (ISR) is the new leader moving ahead of Spaniard Pilar Lamadrid, who dropped to second place, just two points behind. Sam Sills (GBR) still dominates the men's fleet. Tomorrow is the penultimate racing day. Performance Data Analyst and local Mallorcan, Elvira Llabres, returns to Palma to chase T6 in this her sixth America's Cup campaign. Elvira explains her position in the team. It’s been a successful start to what has been a fast and intense race, leading the fleet down the Atlantic. Conditions have become more complicated recently with the passage of the doldrums, ensnared in a windless sea. the platform for water sports enthusiasts and water sports equipment took place again after two Corona breaks. The industry has obviously longed for boot Düsseldorf - from nautical charts to giant yachts - the rush was great everywhere. Still, strong currents are changing the industry - from electric mobility to inflation and energy prices - rough seas here and there for the watersports economy. The new equator crossers have to undergo a series of tradions when crossing for the first time. It includes the loss of hair amongst other things. But it is worth it crossing on GUYOT environment Team Europe, a foiling flyer. From the Coconut Grove Miami Sailing Club this is Day 5 of the 2023 Finn Gold Cup. . Britain's Ed Wright has won the Finn Gold Cup in Miami, USA, after no racing was possible on the final day on Biscayne Bay. Domonkos Nemeth, from Hungary, went one better than 2022 and took the silver while European Champion, Miguel Fernandez Vasco, from Spain took the bronze. The fleet was sent out an hour early to try to make the best of the wind conditions, but the breeze was already dying and after a short wait AP over A was signalled to end the regatta as no more breeze was expected until after the time limit.

En 2018, decidimos embarcarnos en una aventura épica y navegar el Tiwal en el país más árido del mundo. Estas son algunas de las fotos épicas que tomamos. Dedicado a Nick Lowe. Se te echa de menos.
Cartagena is an interesting city in the south of Spain with a lot of Roman history. It was founded in 221 BC. by the North African army commander Hasdrubal, who found the city strategic to conquer more inland areas. The city was called 'Qart chadast' (New City), just like the city of Carthago in Tunesia. In 209 B.C. the Romans conquered the city and made it part of the Roman Empire under the name of Carthago Nova. The harbor with our catamaran was very close to the old city and with our drone we made a movie of the Roman Theatre behind the harbor. The Roman Theatre in Cartagena was the largest amphitheatre in the Roman Empire at that time: 11.000 visitors could be there.
We ended up unexpectedly in the harbor of Cabo de Palos, at the southeast of Spain. And it turned out to be a lovely harbor at the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. So we made this movie with our drone about the marina.
We have a bunch of little random projects we need to get done. I hope you enjoyed watching! Don't forget to like and subscribe. Socials: Instagram: www.instagram.com/fairwindsemptyroads

Departure on Saturday February 4 at 5 am from Les Sables d'Olonne. He agreed to give us at Sailing Alama a little of his time for the realization of his portrait.
Still weary from our overnight sail and squinting into the morning sunlight, we snuck across the river bar and sailed into the lush jungle ahead of us! We were able to motor for several miles upriver and found an isolated spot to call home for a few days while we explored further! Sailing inland like this was a unique and beautiful experience for both of us, what better way to celebrate than with a couple of beers and some blabbering from the Captain?! Peter and Tom are gay sailors who learned to sail relatively recently in the San Francisco Bay, before casting off the lines to cruise Mexico and sail around the world! Thank you!

Mid Ocean sailing at its finest! Solid winds and full sails flying. The following swell gives us a nice push and these are some of my favorite sailing conditions offshore. Just a bot of an eclectic sail today. Starting off with a couple of heave-to's!, then do a few circuits, passing the sailing club. I didge a few boats and then head for home. It's a good demonstration of how not to moor up!! 00:00 Hove-to 01:35 Setting the mizzen on our way 03:04 A grumpy wind! 03:50 Heaving to the other way and reefing the Mizzen 05:17 On our way again 06:54 heading to the club 11:08 Dousing the sails 16:12 Motoring home 19:10 Mooring up (3rd time lucky!!!)

Thierry

This is a review of the very big marina in Martinique called 'Le Marin.' Probably the largest and arguably the best in the Caribbean.
