But living on a sailboat, not owning a car or house, and having everything we own in our 32 foot floating home can be overwhelming at first. It took me a while to get used to it. For Katy it was more natural. She prefers a small living space and a big backyard. I also prefer this but arrived at that conclusion after I spent 6 years renovating Seawind and then moved aboard and shoved off leaving everything behind. Here we are again, doing this same thing. Leaving Pelican Harbor, and our friends who are like family in Tropic Bay is in some ways freeing, and also hard. We are always so grateful for the hospitality and love we are shown while there. But we felt as though it was the right time to say goodbye and head off on another adventure. We leave the dock on New Years Day 2023, and quickly realize that it is going to be a madhouse on the ICW! But thankfully we make it (quite cheerfully I might add) to north Fort Lauderdale and then on to Lake Sylvia the next morning. It will be from here that we leave for The Bahamas this time. We're taking a different route into the archipelago and we are so excited! Now all we have to do is finish some boat projects, provision, and find a weather window! Der Bau des neuen Deckshauses verlagert sich zum Boot Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei general überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. Sailing Greece in 2022. Best places to sail in Ionian. Islands, towns, anchorages, marinas. We are sailing in the Mediterranean and living on our sailboat since 2021. We embarked on a passage from Croatia to Turkey. We plan to use the entire 2022 sailing season for this 1100 journey to explore 4 Mediterranean countries. Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, and Turkey. From Adriatic, through the Ionian to the Aegean. We share some beautiful anchorages, marinas, unspoiled islands, great sites, and expenses along the way. In this episode, we cover our passage from the biggest Ionian island, Corfu to bay of Lefkada. On the way we visit, Paxos, Preveza, Kalamos, Kastos and Atokos. We recently quit our high-tech jobs in California, bought a sailboat, and moved to the Mediterranean. We are just starting our adventure of sailing around the world and experiencing life on a sailboat. It's easy to disassembly an YSE8 / YSB8 / YSM8. The only difficulty is to remove the liner. I heated up the engine block with a fan. Used a home made line puller as suggested in the service manual. Stuffed the liner full with crushed ice. And held an extension socket om the nut (the one inside the engine) and used a hammer. Then it got loose and the rest was easy

In the non-sailing season, we thought we might share a few of the best walks in the Tarbert area. This is a regular one for us, from the A83 down the track towards Barmore Island and then around the grounds of Stonefield Castle Hotel. Well worth exploring the old quay, boat house and magnificent bridge over the river. You can extend the walk doing a lap Barmore island, offering fantastic views of Loch Fyne, although it can be very wet and muddy at times. And just like that *sort of* WE RETURN! We left for an 8-week work Trip in Schaumburg, Illinois and after many adventures and saving as much money as we could, we are heading home to Mr. Turtle! But... sadly, only for a week. We need to get the boat hauled out and winterized before we turn ourselves around and drive the 8 hour trip BACK to Schaumburg for another 4 weeks.
