Lezioni di Vela - Sicurezza - Chiamata di Soccorso - Episodio 21 Lanciare il MAYDAY con il VHF e l'uso della radio di bordo, sono tema del nuovo video-episodio di Scuola di VELA, che considera il caso di una chiamata di soccorso in VOCALE che chiunque in crociera, anche un bambino, dovrebbe saper lanciare. La richiesta di soccorso in VHF Con la radio VHF sul canale 16, possiamo lanciare una richiesta di soccorso in vocale, che verrà ricevuta da tutte le barche e stazioni costiere in ascolto, tipicamente nel raggio di 10-20km. MAYDAY quando l'equipaggio è in imminente pericolo di vita, ad esempio in situazioni di incendio a bordo, vie d'acqua, affondamento, seria emergenza medica, uomo a mare, abbandono nave... PAN PAN PAN per tutte le altre richieste di assistenza senza un pericolo immediato, ad esempio avaria agli organi di governo, motore guasto, danni che compromettono la navigazione, condizioni proibitive del mare che potrebbero richiedere assistenza. Abschleifen der Vorschiffskabine, Weiterbau der Deckshaus Rückwand Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei generalüberholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. In Laboe angekommen sind wir begeistert von dem Traffic in der Kieler Bucht. Diesen kann man hervorragend im Hafenrestaurant bei einer köstlichen Pizza beobachten. Leider neigt sich der Törn dem Ende entgegen und so segeln wir nach einem tollen Aufenthalt in Laboe wieder nach Wismar. Vor der Fehmarnsundbrücke schaukelt es einen ordentlich durch. Und das obwohl wir überhaupt keinen Wind haben. Aber schaut selbst. Viel Spaß! Wir (Gitti und Jörg) freuen uns über viele Kommentare und viele Daumen hoch und natürlich über viele Abos. The sails are now fitted and lashed to the yards and awaiting standing masts from which to dangle. I fit the depth sounder transducer and connect it in to the NMEA2000 network so it can display its data on the plotter. Then, I make a good start on the rear arch that forms the attachment point for the main sheet, and will most probably be where the wind vane is mounted. Getting there! We take a short break from removing the bolds out of the crankshaft to assess the propane leak situation. As we inspect the propane leak in the propane locker we discover that the propane was not installed properly which could lead to dire consequences. I am so glad my dad found this issue before it exploded in our face quite literaly.

In this episode we sail 90 nautical miles from Prince Edward Bay to Coburg Marina... pounded through 8 - 12 foot waves right on the nose... and find perhaps THE best place to provision on Lake Ontario! Lucas from the Market & Smor saw us staring at their mushroom display and asked if we could give hime a tour. This was completely impromptu, and in hindsight we wished we had brought the bigger camera and a proper mic. But we had no idea what we were about to see. We're back! After 3 rollercoaster months we are continuing our vlog. Michelle left with the girls for Australia and I stayed behind on our Contest 36. I'm living aboard our classic sailboat.

We sailed from Bimini across the great Bahama bank, anchored overnight and on to Great Harbour Cay, Hoffman's Cay with the blue hole, and some luxury living at Chub Cay.

Having transited the Corinth Canal on our sailboat for the second time we struggle to beat our way upwind along the Gulf of Corinth towards the Ionian Sea once more. We have two weeks left on our visas in which to exit the Schengen zone and are feeling the pressure! Frustrated after going practically nowhere, we take advantage of a lull in the wind overnight to motor out and return to the island of Kastos where we meet up with an ex! We attended Offshore Sailing School in St. Petersburg, FL at the beginning of February. The course was 1 week long and culminated in certifications in Basic Keelboats, Basic Cruising, and Bareboat Cruising. In this video: Day 5 - We made ourselves breakfast in the galley and drank it with percolated coffee! LUXURY! We learned about navigational flags and how to tie lots of knots. Kent navigated under the Anna Maria Island drawbridge and Kelly talked to the bridgemaster via the radio. After navigating the narrow channels in the Manatee River, that night we tied up at the dock and had dinner at the Seafood Shack. (Notably, we took much needed showers.) That night, we all passed our Basic Cruising exam! Day 6 - We headed back toward St. Pete. On our way, we practiced anchoring, how to approach a mooring ball, how to approach the dock, and moving around in tight spots (back and fills). At the end of the day, we put the boat back into the slip at the marina and walked into town for dinner at the Social Roost where we happened to run into other classmates! That evening, we all passed the Bareboat Cruising exam! Day 7 - Kelly cut us loose! He let us have the helm while he sat back and enjoyed the ride. Exciting moments for us came when we were moving over 8 knots and the boat was heeling. We sailed for 5 -6 hours that day and had the time of our lives. Day 8 - We received our sailboat logbooks this day. I didn’t get any video of it but this was definitely a highlight. Thanks to our amazing instructor Kelly and congratulations to us!
