Calculate the Fresh Water Allowance & Dock Water Allowance II Change in Ship's Drafts due to Density
In this video, it shows how to calculate the Fresh Water Allowance & Dock Water Allowance. It includes how to determine the change in the Ship's drafts due to the changes in water Density. Find the Relative Density and determine the arrival draft from salt water to fresh water & vice versa. Determine the arrival draft from dock water to salt water & vice versa. Fresh Water Allowance (FWA) is the number of millimeters by which the mean draught changes when a ship passes from salt water to fresh water, or vice-versa when the ship is loaded to the Summer displacement. #maritime #seafarer #seaman #bsmt

We've undertaken 2 boat builds in the past 8 years, and they could not be further apart. In this week's episode, we talk about our two boat builds, and how completely different they are. Our first build of the Trisalu 37 was done in Indiantown Florida beginning in 2015, and was quite the learning experience. We tackled a huge amount of work and learned a ton of new skills, but does any of that transfer over? As we build the catamaran now, we find our days glassing and fairing instead of woodworking and scrubbing out old tanks. Ranging from topics like 'Decision for build'; 'Living Quarters'; 'Materials'; and 'Timeline', we spell out as well as show how vastly different our lives are between these two boats. Sit down, grab your favorite beverage, and enjoy! Link to our boat: https://maxcruisemarine.com/max42sc-sailing-catamaran/ Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. During his time away from work, Jamie lived on board and cruised South East Asia. One of his life dreams is to sail around the world. His plans came together at the end of 2018 when he met a Filipina lounge singer in China. Princess was yearning for a vacation since she had been working many years to support her family. Finally, her siblings got their own jobs and she decided to join Jamie on Jupiter² and go sailing. It was a wild decision for her because she had never sailed before. For the first time, they sail for two weeks around Phuket, Thailand. She began to see what Jamie love about the sea. They both resigned from their jobs in early 2019 and began cruising full time.
Why do we love sailing in the BVI? Well, there are many reasons. First of all, the weather is fairly consistent. The winds are typically from the east around 15 knots. This makes it easy to sail as well as to plan our route. Secondly, the islands are beautiful and pretty close together. That means you can have a beautiful sail in the morning and explore the islands all afternoon. In this episode, we leave Scrub Island and have a beautiful sail up to North Sound. Then we make our way to Trellis Bay where we learn how to replace our generator's impeller (out of necessity) before having another beautiful sail up to Anegada where we spend Christmas Day. Thanks for watching and enjoying the BVI with us.

At some point in your sailing experience, you are going to find yourself on a lee shore with winds pinning you closer to a reef than you would ever want. It's uncomfortable. It requires attention 24-7 and a plan if your ground tackle doesn't hold up. Here are some things that we learned to ensure our safety while pinned up against the reef at Cayos Menor. We hope that our suggestions will be helpful to you. Check out the video to see what we did! #sailing #honduras #bayislands #cayoscochinos NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? We headed across to Admiralty Bay in search for some calmer waters. Wind and rough seas were predicted for the week and we thought it was better to get around to more protected bay. After about 10 days of constant wind, rain and rolling in the anchorage we had a little 2 day break in the weather and decided to explore Princess Margret Bay and Lower Bay. All the little bays are joined along the water by little walk ways with beautiful views! Colben had been on the super yacht for 3 weeks after initially being told that he would only be on for a week to 10 days. Teagan was very excited to finally have him home.
We started the week by catching up on chores in St. Thomas, a mundane but necessary task. Holly went for a swim/snorkel around the anchorage and saw some beautiful sea life. The arrival of a large cruise ship solidified our decision to head somewhere new, so we pulled up the anchor and sailed to St. Croix! We were welcomed by a storm but look forward to exploring when the weather clears up. ——————————————————————— Check out our Blog! https://www.svsabado.com Follow us on Instagram! @sv_sabado Shop our gear! https://www.amazon.com/shop/hollyandray **As Amazon associates, we earn commission from qualifying purchases** AltE Store (affiliate link) https://www.altestore.com/?afmc=3e Music provided by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com/referral/ov4tmg/ #sailing #catamaran #boatlife #liveaboard
In this episode Assarain IV sets out from Puerto Real, Puerto Rico, heading to Samana, Dominican Republic. Off the coast of Puerto Rico we responded to a Mayday call of a fishing vessel being pushed offshore with no propulsion, and stayed with the boat until the coast guard arrived on scene. And then the Autopilot quit just before sunset, so we steered the boat by hand all night! Arriving after a night passage in Samana Bay we are greeted by Humpback whales. These whales congregate in the bay in the winter months to raise their young before returning to colder northern waters. After clearing in to the Dominican Republic we hike with our new friends from SY Papaki from the marina into the town of Samana. Boat Work: - Kevin troubleshoots and fixes the autopilot. -the Takacat Dinghy is having some issues. We do a patch of one weak floor area that's leaking. Later we find the glue on the floor is separating along an entire seam. Scuba Diving: we rent a car and set out for a 2-tank dive off Cabo Cabron, Las Galeras. That's it for now. Stay tuned for part 2 of our Dominican Republic visit. Thanks for following! We're not afraid to jump into anything, put in the work, and learn as we go. We started out with Somnium, an O'day 272, moved onto Freebie, an Endeavour 32, and now are focusing on sailboat tours and working full time as teachers while we save up for our next boat. Day 1 of the TP52 Gold Cup 2023 saw eight boats racing offshore on the Manly Circle in a shifty 8-11 knot easterly breeze. The racing was tight and demonstrated that TP52s of all eras can enjoy close boat-on-boat competition.

[French will follow] Hello everyone! I'm very excited to unveil 𝙎𝙚𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝘼𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣 today 💫 This is one of the first songs I wrote when I retreated to my family chalet in Kamouraska (Qc,CAN), by the St-Lawrence river 🌊 The melody of the chorus wouldn't leave me, I had to turn it into a song! For the video I had to go back where the song was born. So with my friends of @foretsauvagefilms we went to the St. Lawrence River at sunset to film these single take shots :) A special thanks to Antoine who also gave us a good helping hand. Good news: See You Again is part of an EP, 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙨 - 𝙎𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝘼 🌼 which will be available on all digital platforms in a couple of weeks! The original English versions of 𝙁𝙡𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙨 (my previous album) hold a very special place in my heart. That's why I want to release them all this year, hoping that they will touch even more people. *A special thanks to all the wonderful musicians that played on this track: JF Lemieux: Bass Joe Grass: Banjo and guitar Robbie Kuster: Drums and percussions Nicolas Boulay: Trumpet Add the song to your playlists! 🧚🏼♀️ https://www.heramenard.com/seeyouagain

Ep18: Sailing along the Nivernais Canal we are swept away by its beauty and challenged by so many locks. We're taking the long way down to the Mediterranean Sea through farm land, forest and village in the middle of France but we must reach the overnight mooring before the locks and bridges stop working. We were told by helpful lock keepers (eclusiers) that the last lifting bridge after three locks ahead would stop operating at 7pm AND with no where safe to moor up for the night before the bridge there's no choice, the race is on - but there is a speed limit of 8km/hr on the canal! We cannot fault the help and thoughtfulness of these people working the locks.
