This yacht is currently in the process of being donated, due to health reasons, to a Veteran's group for them to use for free. “Silver Wing”, designed by Van de Stadt, was built in fiberglass by the world renowned Trintella shipyard in Holland. This vessel’s safety and integrity are enhanced by a watertight forward bulkhead, multiple tanks integral to the hull along the keel and stringers every 16”. These structural features make her an extremely sound vessel capable in severe sea conditions. Her versatile ketch rig provides multiple sail options to suit various wind conditions, heavy and light. Both her masts are on tabernacles allowing them to fold down for the canals of Europe or to get under low bridges. What do you think? Leave a comment below. Today i'm making some stowage covers for my Drascombe Lugger, Lulu! These are to fit the side stowage bins. On the lake I don't really have much in these, however when I start to cruise next year, I think they get get a bit fuller and these will, not only stop things falling out, but will also keep everything in the lockers should the worse happen! They're made out of PU covered polyester mesh fabric so are waterproof, will allow water through to drain and should have a high degree of mould resistance. 00:00 Measuring up 00:57 Cutting 02:51 Sewing the hems 04:36 Attaching the press-studs 07:03 The finished product!

Want to ditch land life and go cruising with your family? Have concerns? Then you'll love this episode.... Join us as we share a bit about who we are, and the many concerns we've faced while making the decision to go cruising with our kids: Money... Being far from friends and family... Screwing up the kids... Not knowing boat systems... Etc.... In the end we decided the pros outweighed our fears, and we made the decision to buy a boat and leave the comforts of land life behind. We may or may not know what we're doing, but WE'RE OUT HERE LIVIN' THE DREAM on our 48' catamaran, SAILING THE WORLD WITH OUR KIDS! Thanks for watching! We hope you enjoyed, and will join us next week as we Scout out our next adventure in the Bahamas. Cheers, The SCOUT crew Nate, Megan, Kieran (11) & Eily (9) Music is from Epidemic Sound. How to keep it up in even the most adverse circumstances has been a priority and preoccupation of sailors since they first took to the water. That and how to keep your crew as safe as possible, and get them back on-board if the unthinkable happens. Safety of the boat and crew has driven innovation, change in regulations, sailing practices and new technologies. Here at Dazcat safety is always top of our design and build priorities, so we were pleased to have the opportunity to test another layer of safety, new to us. The latest Dazcat 1295 to be launched has embraced the Ocean Data System,@oceandatasystem8162 , up-side-up technology. It is another tool in the box to make sure boat and crew return home safely every time. The Up-side-up system isn't new. As with so many technologies it's been widely used on race boats and the French developers have been in marine electronics since 1991. They provided a superb service throughout the installation and testing of their up-side-up system on the latest Dazcat 1295 'Minor Swing' and so far so good under test conditions...

Hi guys, When you own a steel boat there will come a time, if you own her long enough, where she will need to be sandblasted so your epoxy primer will have a good bond to protect the steel from rust and electrolysis. You'll also be able to see what kind of shape your steel plating is once you take her down to bare metal. We saved a ton of money, over $8,000 from the original quote, by finding a sandblaster and doing all the prep and painting ourselves. Hope you enjoy the vid and please don't forget to leave a comment, thumb up👍, subscribe if your not already and click on the 🔔 to receive notifications whenever we put out a new vid. Guadeloupe gave us such a fun and a memorable time while we were there. But it was time to say goodbye, for now. After spending the last few hours in Guadeloupe before checking out, we said goodbye to our amazing friends that we met. The next day we sailed down to Dominica with one of the families and we had a lot of fun on the way. Sailing along the Caribbean has been such an amazing time for us. Right before sunset we arrived and anchored at a beautiful marina in a lagoon towards North Western side of Dominica. After we checked-in we decided to go on a fun scuba diving trip. It was a first time for the kids! Later we tagged along our friends and went on the Indian River tour to explore what it offers. It for sure was an experience! As always, thank you for watching. See you in the next episode. Enjoyed the video? Now that the crew has reached the south island of New Zealand, it's time for their first BIG test as they RACE against the currents of the French pass. In this type of narrow crossing, where wind and currents are prone to radical shifting at the snap of a finger, timing is paramount. These are the situations where any small mistakes or misjudgments while sailing the boat could end in a catastrophic fashion. New Zealand's surrounding waters are known to be scary and difficult, especially for rookie sailors. And it's pretty crazy how fast it can go from feeling like a paradise vacation to a nightmare scenario.
