L'acquisition d'un voilier d'Alubat est souvent un rêve d'enfance, le rêve d'une vie, le projet d'une vie, quelques semaines d'évasion pendant une vie active, une année sabbatique sous le signe de la découverte et des rencontres ou l'évasion totale pour une vie à bord. Bref, le bonheur sur l'eau se lit aussi dans les messages transmis par les propriétaires qui n'ont pas pu venir à la fête : - Jean-Yves G. : Grâce à ALUBAT nous avons profité de 18 ans de bonheur et de voyages à bord de notre OVNI 395. Nous vous souhaitons une joyeuse fête. - Claude et Michèle : Notre OVNI 43 nous a conduit très loin, avec toujours le même plaisir de naviguer - Isabelle et Michel R. : Hélas, nous ne pourrons honorer votre invitation pour cette sympathique journée du 12 mai, et vous en remercions. Depuis 1980 je n’ai cessé d’être propriétaire et de naviguer, sans interruption, sur des bateaux de votre chantier, un 28 d’occasion pendant une dizaine d’années puis un 32 neuf, puis un 36 neuf également et en ce moment un 395 d’occasion de 2008, acheté il y a 9 ans, à bord duquel nous sommes partis en Méditerranée, navigant 6 mois par an, de Pâques à la Toussaint, ce qui nous empêchera d’être présents parmi vous en mai. Actuellement au sec sur l’ile de Leros, en Grèce, notre OVNI sera remis à l’eau le 18 avril, destination les petites Cyclades et puis la Turquie. Nous ferons une pause en août cette année et pourrions être aux Sables avec bonheur… Belle célébration ! - Pierre M. : nous sommes actuellement aux Antilles et nous ne serons pas de retour pour le 12 mai, même si toute la famille aurait vraiment voulu être là ! Surtout après le bon souvenir de notre passage au chantier au début de la rénovation de notre Ovni 35 à l'été 2021 (où nous étions passé le jour où tout le monde partait en vacances :-) Aujourd'hui, l'aventure bat son plein, après une transat en solo réussie en 15 jours. On regrette vraiment de ne pas pouvoir être présent à cet "anniversaire". Went sailing on a Hunter 40. Got rid of my anxiety when steering & gained a bit more experience handling the genoa. Unfortunately I keep having technical problems when trying to film and editing. So the video is quite terrible, but this is all the footage I got. Hopefully I will get to do it again soon

First attempts at cooking with solar energy from panels and lithium battery

Toni and I have never attended the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show, however there were rumors that a Seawind 1190 Sport might be in attendance. We pre-purchased our tickets with VIP access and anxiously waited for the day. The day finally arrived, with the wind, rain, and the cold. We braved the elements and finally got to see the Seawind 1190 Sport firsthand. This was the boat the brought Toni and I into the Seawind Harbor where we went from the 1190 to the 1160 before settling on the 1260. There was also a Lagoon 42 in attendance, and we view that as well, as it is always interesting to experience the differences of similar sized boats. The Spring Sailboat Show is about 1/6 the size of the Fall Sailboat Show. We salvaged the day by alternating time in the VIP lounge where we ate and sampled various Scotch with our ventures out into the elements. We accomplished our goals but will think twice next spring. The trip started with little wind, and then later in the week was expected to blow up to 40 kts. So ambitions were scaled down. Still, 4 days of fun at sea is not to be missed and so off we set. --- Light winds from the south and east were forecast for the start of the trip, along with patchy fog and flat seas Jonah presses on with intent, into the gray and cold morning Having launched from the SC harbor, we're now bound for HMB... our usual stopping off point when heading north The fog clears for a while and the warmth of the sun brightens the day --- It's a bit of a long slog up the coast when motoring A favorable wind at least permits some motor sailing Warmer in the cabin, just make sure to keep watch --- the first of the channel marker buoys signalling we're almost there safe harbor, at last --- anchoring in about 12 feet of water, as shown here on the fishfinder a bit tricky one handed --- It's a new day and we're bound for the Bay (San Francisco, that is) The forecast is for light and favorable winds, so the code zero is rigged The tack attaches to the pulpit and the head is raised up the mast After a quick pitstop for some gas, we motor out of the HMB marina --- upwind code zero?... no problem! --- interminable hours, seemingly without end, drop away in oceanic meditation on and on, she potters on her way relentless, unerring we're bound, for our home port now --- The winds picked up so the code zero is furled the lapper hoisted and the main reefed down to the first reefing point --- moving along at a decent clip now --- Throw in the GGB_Moods video --- Addendum: So, having got the updated forecast, the question was posed... would it prudent to head north in a 19' sailboat, up past Point Reyes with 30 kt headwinds forecast? The allure of new horizons is tempting but such thoughts must be tempered with a sailors prudence the decision was made to postpone such far flung northerly excursions for another day

The 🇳🇱 Vaan R4 is the first model from the Dutch yard that has 3 key elements to their boat building philosophy: sailing, sustainability and style. ▫️ ➡️ Swipe 📷 from Vaan Yachts ▫️ These 42' eco yachts have been designed to sail with the wind in your hair, they use sustainable materials where possible (60% recycled aluminium for example) and they aim for a clean "hotel suite" look inside. ▫️ They come with a Quantum square-top, tri-radial, full batten main sail and a self-tacking Jib with options for a Code-0 and Gennaker. ▫️ The R4 is driven by the wind and electrical propulsion (2 Torqeedo FP10’s or 2 OceanVolt SD15’s) on calm days. Batteries are recharged through hydrogeneration if you have the OceanVolts, plus solar and a generator if needed. You can hydrogenerate through one or two engines. ▫️ This is a cabriolet cat- the Vaan R4 does not have a large, fixed roof over the cockpit, but a bimini that can be quickly installed and removed for protection from the elements. ▫️ The design of the R4 is anchored in circular principles. This catamaran is mostly made from recyclable materials and it is almost completely recyclable itself. The hull is made of more than 50% recycled aluminium (old window frames, traffic signs and license plates).
