The Center Console Motor Boat Midnight Express 43 Open seen at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2024 By Bill Hackett The Boat Show 2025
This Parker Sorrento 100 is a boat that surprises you with clever ideas that utilize the available space in both functional but also stylish ways. If you are a buyer of a family style sports cruiser and you want to combine elegant external lines with good accomodation for parents and the kids then this is aboat that will do it for you. The outboard power also gives you a very high cruising speed and shallow water access that you just cannot get with inboards and for those of us in warm countries it's so much better for 12-month's of in water storage. This is a production builder from Poland so the quality appears the same at your Beneteau and Jeanneau competition which is totally acceptable for someone wanting a boat to go boating, enjoy a few summers and then trade up into something different. I say this because boats that appeal to a family market with two cabins seem to always do well on the used market so your ability to move onto the next boat is not hindered.. This is only the second Parker I have tested in my life so I cannot claim to be an expert on this brand but from what I saw they appear to be good, fun, stylish boats that compete with the bigger name brands. This is a worthy competitor to have on your list. I hope this helps. Eleven skippers are still racing in the Vendée Globe so there is still news to report on the race! We give you an update on Arnaud Boissières from La Mie Câline after he was dismasted, showing his progress towards the Caribbean, then Kojiro Shiraishi tells us why he made a big routing decision as he heads east towards Les Sables d'Olonne. We then look at the tracker, then conclude with an update from Oliver Heer. We'll continue bringing you news from the race, but it may be less frequent as we get fewer updates from the sailors. #vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing

Kaia Bint Savage won the Yachting Journalists’ Association Young Journalist of the Year in 2024. She shares the impact of sharing her story with YJA members at a special event at the Royal Ocean Racing Club in London. Kaia wrote after the event: Heading into the RORC last Thursday, I had a mix of emotions. As I stepped through the front door, an oceanic wave of nostalgia hit me. This was the first place where I’d had a meeting for my job as the Social Media Manager of The Maiden Factor back in 2016, when I wasn’t long out of university. Maiden had just returned to the UK – completely shipwrecked – with a huge restoration, two charity world tours and many adventures ahead. Little did I know then that Maiden was set to change the world again in 2024. The Fastnet Room was the place where the Maiden crew and team congregated after visiting Clarence House and meeting HRH Queen Camilla, as part of the Ocean Globe Race-winning celebrations. I hold so much admiration for the amazing crew, and that specific day, as I watched the Queen shake their hands and ask questions about their multi-record-breaking achievement, I felt as if I could burst with pride like a parent (despite the fact a few crew members are actually older than me). But this time, in 2025, I was in the Fastnet Room with a new cohort – members of the Yachting Journalists’ Association. I was honoured to win the YJA Young Journalist of the Year award for my work covering The Maiden Factor over the OGR 2023/4, and can’t thank the members who voted for me enough. Award finalist Jack Gore and I shared our stories, along with photos and videos, and had the opportunity to speak and ask questions with those who attended. When I left, I immediately started writing notes as I walked, shielding my notepad from the raindrops hellbent on making my ink run, as I tried to write down all the advice everyone had kindly given to Jack and me. I wasn’t roleplaying as a detective in the 70s – I just didn’t want to walk around London with a phone in my hand. There was so much that I was a little annoyed at myself for not taking bullet points as inconspicuously as possible in my pocket when actually talking to everyone, to ensure I didn’t miss anything. You rarely get so many good tips and recommendations from people who are genuinely supportive. I’ve been in situations with fellow photographers when I was still very new, asked for advice, to a sea of unhelpful, unwilling faces looking back at me. Here, when I asked a question, I had some of the best journalists and photographers replying to me and giving me pure pearls of wisdom, from dealing with imposter syndrome (I’m not sure if it’s reassuring or not that it doesn’t seem to go away!) to the titles of books that inspired them in turn. To battle commuters at rush hour to travel to the middle of London on a drizzly, dreary January weekday evening, probably isn’t an appealing choice for many, but Jack and I were so grateful to the members who attended, and to Katy and the YJA committee who set up the event. We left with pages of tips, an increased motivation, and the support of professionals who are not just wonderful role models, but very generous and kind people. Find out more about the Yachting Journalists' Association at https://yja.world/ and The Maiden Factor at https://www.themaidenfactor.org/

In Episode 49 of the Sailing Goat Series, we find ourselves in the middle of an intense storm, battling 50-knot winds and 20-foot waves crashing against the seawall while safely docked in the marina. Fortunately, our boat took no damage, but the chaos and noise made for an unforgettable experience. With the weather keeping us inside, the blonde turned our unexpected downtime into an improvised pizza night, making the most of our limited ingredients. Meanwhile, I took on a boat project—trying (and failing) to save our shower door from rotting. Boat life never gets boring, and this week was no exception! 🌪️ 50-Knot Windstorm & 20ft Waves: Watch as our marina gets pounded by an intense storm with massive waves and relentless winds. Even though we escaped without damage, the conditions reminded us why staying prepared is so important. 🍕 Improvised Pizza Night: With the rain keeping us indoors, the blonde took on the challenge of making a homemade pizza with whatever ingredients we had left. It wasn’t a five-star meal, but it was a perfect way to brighten up a stormy night! 🛠️ Boat Project Fail – Shower Door Rescue: I attempted to repair and save our shower door from rotting, but let’s just say… things didn’t go as planned. Some projects go smoothly, others don’t—this one definitely falls into the second category! 🌊 Surviving the Storm & Boat Life Realities: This episode is a reminder that living on a boat isn’t always sunshine and smooth sailing. From battling storms to making the best out of small moments, it’s all part of the adventure. 💬 Share Your Storm Stories & Boat Project Fails: Have you ever been caught in extreme weather while docked or had a boat project go sideways? Share your experiences in the comments below—we’d love to hear your stories! 👍 If you’re intrigued by our stormy week and boat life struggles, give this video a thumbs up, share it with fellow sailors, and subscribe to the Sailing Goat Series for more updates. 🔗 Connect with Sailing Goat: Instagram: @nobodysride Instagram: @sailing_svgoat 📌 Hashtags: #SailingGoat #50KnotStorm #ExtremeWeather #BoatProjects #ImprovisedPizza #LifeAtSea #SailingLife ⛵ Join us for another unpredictable week of sailing life, where storms rage, projects fail, and pizza saves the day!
