Working two jobs, three kids and running a house is difficult at the best of times, but summer holidays and packing up a house ready for our big move really add to the complexity and stress. As a working mother, trying to keep on top of it all seems an impossible task at times, but it helps that a really enjoy my work and love the challenge. TRANSCRIPT I've got several jobs - Coxwain on the lifeguard boat, so my job is to patrol up and down all the beaches in Brighton and Hove. It's not 9:00 to 5:00, it's unsociable hours, you're on the boat for eight hours of the day, you’ve got to be constantly alert watching out for things listening out for lifeguard posts and when the weather’s rough it's also quite stressful because you want to make sure that you keep yourself, your lifeguards safe and also be on call for anyone else that needs any assistance on the beach. The second job is freelance work - I take people out on yachts. You get children doing activity weeks, you get corporate groups wanting to do team building and you get birthday parties, Hen and Stag groups, they're probably the most hilarious because they will turn up with their canapes and their bottles of Prosecco and then as soon as we exit marina - it's one of the most precarious marina entrances here in Brighton - and as soon as you exit, the boat just suddenly starts going up and down the waves and the canapes go flying and everyone’s looking a bit green. But yeah, I love being out doing that kind of thing it’s outdoors, it's exciting, it's got responsibilities. It’s very hectic in the morning trying to get ready for work and the kids off to school. Trying to do their packed lunches, get their stuff ready and then get my stuff ready as well. I have eight hours on the boat so I need to make sure I've got enough food. I need to have a flask of tea, coffee, water, all my gear and then I take them down to school, some of the time I come back then try to cook the evening meal and then I cycle to the marina with all my gear. If it’s a south-westerly then it's doubly hard. Other than that it's a really nice cycle. The most difficult thing is organising childcare which any other working parent would know. Kids finish school at 3:15 and I don't get home till 19:00 - I don't see them till it's bedtime. I try and make it so Woody doesn't need to pick up the kids until around 17:00. Luckily I've got some really good. friends around, so if they're at a friends he'll go and to pick them up from there. When he's away it's even more difficult. Woody finds - you know - he's not used to dealing with the kids and he finds it quite difficult and [LAUGHS].. I'll just leave that one! Sorry Woody! Summer holidays are coming up. I can't do so much work so I have to cut back. So I'm kind of like torn between wanting to go out and do my work which I really enjoy as well and being with the children. The other thing this summer is we're supposed to be unwinding everything and packing up and moving on and I'm going to try and work that out around the kids so that's going to be a bit challenging. You've got to kind of keep the house going. The house actually turns out like a complete tip, the kitchen is never like this in the summer holidays. You're making packed lunches, you're going out doing things.. come back.. tea it's just kind of constant - it's like being a catering industry sometimes. It's about keeping them active really. If they stay too long inside they’ll start fighting and the other challenging thing is, when I'm at home with the kids I'm often on call for the lifeboat so you never know when that might happen, you're always aware that the pager could go off. The last shout was a few nights ago - it was a night I'd been lifeguarding all day so I was exhausted and it was a boat in trouble outside the marina - engine failure - and had to be towed in. So I went around about midnight probably got back in around about two. It takes about half an hour to kind of calm down again and then get to sleep so I don't know how many hours sleep I got that night really. And the next day I was up, it was a school day I think and I was back on lifeguard duty from 10:30 for another 8 hours. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Crafted from my experiences aboard Starry Horizons, it's designed to simplify vessel and maintenance management, making life on the water even more enjoyable. Explore https://MaintenanceROS.com and enjoy an exclusive 20% discount for the first 6 months using promo code 'outchasingstars'. Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** Back to the boat meant back to work and there was a lot to get done in order to prep Starry Horizons for another season of cruising. Our goal was to tackle as many projects by ourselves as we could. So we did big projects like new bottom paint and lots of smaller ones like replacing an outboard prop, cleaning our lifelines, fixing our cockpit fridge thermostat, new fishing gear, re-doing the external antenna set up for our Iridium Go, replacing our tri-color/anchor light, working on bow locker storage and fixing our windlass chain counter sensor. And that's only the projects we captured on video! It was a crazy busy three weeks, but we were crazy proud of ourselves for how much work we were able to do. And at the end, our boat was back in the water where she belongs! I decided to rest up at the Rock N Sole Hostel after a resupply. Craig and his family does a wonderful job as a bed and breakfast for weary hikers like myself. Bunkroom and basement accommodate a good number of hikers, while large portions at dinner and breakfast add to the luxurious ambience of a mountain cottage. I'm in high spirits as I reach Lehigh Gap and the start of Pennsylvania's rougher sections. La tua mente è in standby , good bye , su via… 28 July 2017out our first single "THE SARRES" Cosciente, written by Sergio.D and played by Sara Santonastaso with the participation of Scott Stammers. I make travel vlogs about my Vanlife, sharing vanlife ideas, vanlife tips, and travel diaries. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live in a van with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

We sail to Agua Verde and discover a hidden gem! This quintessential Mexican village is a little paradise, transporting us back in time to a simpler life. We find small family farms raising goats and pigs, a tiny grocery shop with everything you need, along with some beautiful scenery. Here, we slow down and find the time to work on some projects around the boat and spear fish, before setting sail further north, finding warm water and new friends to do some scuba diving with in the sea. ________________ We hope you enjoy our videos and adventures. We joined Bill for the first sail on the Wild Duck that took him 37 years to build. It was light winds on the south Coast, but that didn't matter, Bill was happy to have the sails up and you know what, there wasn't a dry eye on The Solent as he drifted by with not a care in the world. How to build anything out of Fiberglass. We wanted to create a multi-part video series on how to make something from Fiberglass. We chose a deck box for our boat because it demonstrates all the steps required including: -Building a wooden frame/skin for the work -Preparing for the fiberglass -Creating fillets for round edges and remove stress crack areas -Laying down the reinforcement tabs -Adding layers and removing air bubbles from the glass -Fairing the surface and preparing for paint or gel cot -Applying gel coat. We share what went well, and what we learned along the way when we didn't do something right and we share it with you as well. Feel free to comment or start a discussion below in the comments. Please like and share this video with others. It really does help us out. Thank you all. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. Zwei Wochen Rundreise in Mexiko. Juni 2014 in Hamburg gestartet.

A quick walk around the outside of the A-frame. We bought this mess knowing we would have our hands full but it's all in good fun.
In this sail life vlog, we go on a dinner date in Governor's Harbour in Eleuthera, Bahamas. I feel like this video is a fairly accurate reflection as to what a normal day is like while out cruising. You get up, you clean the dinghy, you do laundry, you run out of cash so you go to the bank, then you grab a nice hamburger because by that time, you've worked up an appetite. If you ever do laundry at Governor's Harbour, be warned. The laundromat is hotter than Hades. The dryers vent all the exhaust directly into the building itself. Holy moly, it was like being in a sauna. No matter - we round off the day with a nice island-style family dinner date. Nothing like enjoying a good meal with my 2 ladies as company - especially on a beautiful island in the Bahamas. It just doesn't get much better than that. Thanks for watching!! Toby Hodges was aboard Shamrock V, the oldest existing J Class, as seven J Class yachts raced for the first time ever. See the action from onboard the J Class Shamrock V in Bermuda as seven Js are expertly guided around the course by around 30 crew members each. Shamrock V is smaller and lighter than the modern J fleet so can only compete on handicap ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Yachting World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/user/yachtingworld?sub_confirmation=1 ► For the latest reviews, new gear launches and tour news, visit our website here - http://www.yachtingworld.com ► Like us on Facebook here - https://www.facebook.com/yachtingworldmagazine ►Follow us on Twitter here - https://twitter.com/yachtingworld ►Feel free to comment below! ►Remember to hit that LIKE button if you enjoyed it :)
