Medway yacht club are running a series of 5 races this year just for short handed sailors. They are trying to encourage the boats that use the excuse 'cant find enough crew' to take part. The first couple of races had loads for interest but for some reason we didnt get many competitors this week, but those of us that took part it was a great sail. So we have made it safely across the North Sea! It took us around 20 hours to get to Ijmuiden Seaport Marina from Lowestoft and was a much better sail than our previous one! We had a couple of nights to recharge our batteries then we began our journey into the Netherlands canal system. We continued our journey towards Amsterdam going through Kleine Sluis by Ijmuiden to get us down to the correct water level. It was a relaxing journey down the super wide canal and Scrappy came out to enjoy it with us. Amsterdam was reached after about a 3 hour journey and we squeezed ourselves in Sixhaven Marina opposite Amsterdam Central Station. A 5 minute walk from Sixhaven gave us access to a free ferry across the canal to the city centre. There was SO much to see and do - we spent hours exploring! We throughly enjoyed a meatball sandwich from 'Mister Meatball' - highly recommend a visit here - and wandered down the streets lining the many canals of Amsterdam. Numerous 'coffeeshops' were passed and hundreds of stunning buildings. During our stay in Amsterdam there was a very impressive thunderstorm. The recording of this is probably my favourite part of the video! Check it out at 11:37. Further exploration of Amsterdam led me past Anne Franks's house and the almighty Westerkerk - Anne could hear the bells from her attic room and they provided her with some comfort. After we had exhausted ourselves, we decided to keep heading North up towards the Markermeer. Dave found us a beautiful anchorage just outside of Hoorn for our first attempt at anchoring out! ____________________________________________________________________ Read our Sailing Travel Journal entries here: IJmuiden: https://www.sailingmutiny.com/seaport-marina-ijmuiden/ Sixhaven: https://www.sailingmutiny.com/sixhaven-marina-amsterdam/ ____________________________________________________________________ Subscribe to our channel so you don't miss the next episode!: https://www.youtube.com/SailingMutiny ____________________________________________________________________ Find us on Social Media Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sailingmutiny Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sailingmutiny/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/sailingmutiny Website: www.sailingmutiny.com ____________________________________________________________________ Support us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sailingmutiny ____________________________________________________________________ Thank you very much to the people that created the music used in this video. Spending some time in Saba made us realize just how magical this island is. Everyone is so friendly and everything has an interesting story (from the road, to the sulphur mine, to its crazy airport) We had an amazing couple of days exploring its wonders and without a doubt, Saba has officially become our favorite island of the Caribbean. Can't wait to share even more of it in our next Step (83) If you enjoyed this episode, please give it thumbs up, it helps us out a bunch :) WANT MORE? A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live in a van with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

It was time to sail across the Caribbean sea, a passage of 425 nautical miles. We have sailed the Windward- and Leeward islands in the eastern Caribbean and now we set sail from Culebra in the north to Bonaire in the south. Join us as we prepare for the passage and during the 65 hours sail at sea. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds take us. WANT MORE? EXTREME SAILING – Luckyfish meets TOP GEAR On Luckyfish we have shared some amazing anchorages with equally amazing neighbours. From the Pacific double canoe Hokulea to Superyachts. In Barbados we were blown away when the MOD 70 trimaran, Ms Barbados pulled up next to us ! We were treated to watching this state of the art boat up close over the next days, as she rehearsed for a memorable appearance in Amazon’s The Grand Tour. Product Review - Dinghy Rope review the Zhik ZKG neoprene sailing shoe. Superb grip, quick drying, excellent features and probably the best grip you'll find out there today. This sailing shoe is a perfect replacement for a deck shoe, ideal for sailing on yachts or keel boats but also great for dinghy sailing.

This Leopard 58 was ordered by an experienced yachts man, a (3) time Leopard owner. This yacht is loaded with almost every possible factory option, and has been maintained by a full time captain. No expense spared, perfect condition, ready to go, never chartered. This yacht can be an extremely comfortable live-aboard, a successful (day) charter yacht or comfortable global traveler. There is no larger fly bridge on any other catamaran in this size range, or a more "open" and well ventilated salon as on the Leopard 58. 250 hours on the engines and generator. This is one of those yachts that can truly be advertised as 'better than new'.
