In late summer we visited the Marsa Shagra Village near Marsa Alam in the south of Egypt. Most of the time we dived from shore to explore the beautiful house reef in front of the village. From time to time we hopped on a zodiac to visit places like Abu Dabbab and the epic Elphinstone Reef, where we met a very friendly Giant oceanic manta ray during two of our dives. Marsa Shagra is definitly worth visiting because of the outstandig diving conditions. Hi everyone, This video is one of my favorites as it chronicles our amazing sail from the Marquesas to the Tuamotus a 400 nautical mile dash to the most coral infested waters we have ever seen. They actually delete the chart information within the atolls so you have to use your eyes and some satellite pics to stay off the "Bommies" (what they call coral heads) Come along as we enter our first "Atoll Pass" , meet some friends above and below the water along with some serious beachcombing and a wardrobe malfunction. Une casse intervient pendant mon quart de nuit, il faut réparer en pleine mer. Une fois dans l’Atlantique, c'est une étape de franchie et d'autres problématiques à affronter. On embarque Cécé à Cadix, mais la météo se dégrade : pluie battante et des orages nous bloquent à Vilamoura. On croise beaucoup de dauphins, on pêche un "volant pas poisson" 😅… On entre dans la zone des orques entre le cap Espineche et la Galice. This week aboard our sailboat, we made huge progress on the deck refit — but the weather had other plans. Our main goal was to prep and paint the rear deck, including the sugar scoops, helm stations, and transom alley. The process started strong: days of sanding, fiberglass repairs, fairing, and priming. Everything was ready for paint… until temperatures in Virginia dropped too low for proper curing. So for now, we’re calling it “good enough” with primer — the paint will have to wait until we reach warmer weather farther south. It’s not the finish we hoped for, but that’s real-life boat work for you. Finalmente ritorniamo in patria dopo tanti anni di Grecia. La traversata nel mar Ionio è stata abbastanza sofferta. Siamo partiti sfruttando una finestra tra varie perturbazioni affrontando mare e vento. Nella prima notte c'è chi è andato in panico, gli altri non erano molto affidabili per governare il timone. Le onde hanno smosso tutto lo sporco accumulato sul fondo dei serbatoi che ha otturato filtri e circuito per la nafta. Grazie al vento siamo riusciti ad avvicinarci a circa 25 miglia da Crotone, le ultime miglia le abbiamo fatte grazie ad un day tank improvvisato.

We ran out of fuel on the wild coast of Borneo. Halfway between Kudat and Kota Kinabalu, anchored off a remote fishing village, our engine died with an empty tank… and no marina for miles. What followed was an unexpected and memorable moment of our time sailing Sabah.
