Building the perfect hardtop for my Bavaria 55 here in Bali. The weather has been a bigger challenge than expected, and the last weeks have been extreme with serious flooding and dthe eath toll is still rising. Making it ridiculous for me to complain on being delayed by bad weather, knowing how much pain many are experiencing on this island at the moment. Sailing in a subtropical climate requires good protection, not only shade from the sun but also from extreme UV. Canvas doesn't last long in a sub-tropical climate, and I was tired of leaks and repairs. So now I am making a permanent solution. I'm sharing my production methods, setbacks, and progress, and basically all you want to know about my Hardtop project for my Bavaria 55 Cruiser. After visiting 14 prefectures, spending time in Japan’s longevity hotspots, and interviewing some remarkable people, I’m finally back in Amami — and heading back to my boat tomorrow. I’ve just completed the fourth draft of my new book on longevity and it’s now with a small group of beta readers. Soon I’ll begin writing the fifth draft. This morning I’m in Naze, taking my usual Japanese-style walk, and like so many parks across the country, people are already out playing gateball. It happens every morning. I’ve chatted with them — they’re genki, energetic, and committed to gathering with friends for movement and fun. Radio Taiso is part of that rhythm too. Pickleball is growing in Japan, and I feature it in my book’s “future trends” chapter, but for now gateball remains the number one morning activity for community, connection, and gentle exercise. It’s good to be back — both in Amami and soon on my boat. Thanks for following along, even during the months with less sailing content. In this week's sailing video Rob FINALLY repairs the Water Maker on Jaygo. He speaks about his experience with FilmTec RO membranes and shows the problems that we have had. We also visit the Bali Sailing Centre which is run by the AMAZING Pak Kiki. Kiki works tirelessly to teach sailing to people who in many cases would not get the opportunity. His Sailing Centre caters for all ages from 7 to 80 and all levels of experience, but his real passion is for teaching the local Indonesian kids. Dee also gets fed up with her long hair in the Indonesian summer and visits the hairdresser to take drastic action.

Anche chi è alto trova comodamente posto sdraiato sia a poppa che a prua. --- **Postazione di guida: ergonomia e sicurezza** Guidare in piedi è la posizione ideale per affrontare il mare in sicurezza. Il sedile permette un ottimo appoggio lombare e ripara bene da vento e spruzzi. Perfetto per chi vuole macinare miglia in comfort totale. --- **Test in navigazione: performance da top di gamma** Partiamo con la prova in acqua. Con la marcia inserita, acceleriamo e il gommone **entra in planata in un secondo**. **Velocità di crociera:** 14 nodi a 3000 giri/minuto con un consumo di 23 litri/ora. **Massima raggiunta:** 38 nodi, con grande stabilità anche con mare formato. We’re going mad!!!! Squeak, squeak, squeak our sub-floor is squeaking and driving us crazy. When it was replaced five years ago apparently we didn’t install enough furring strips. That’s what we are doing in this episode along with replacing the vinyl click lock flooring that lays on top with carpet. Steve made the correct cuts the first time. He really knows how to cut a rug and Karen loves to get down on a nice new floor. Other updates include the progress of the dill we planted. Maybe we’ve lost our green thumbs because the dill doesn’t look so great. It’s been thinned and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will continue to grow and bring us delicious flavor in the future. Wondering about the basil we planted? It’s growing strong and steady. Karen gets teary eyed over the Sony video camera. It is no longer functioning. Those wonderful features of a Carl Zeiss lens, internal gimbal stabilization and a super clear 20X Zoom lens are no longer available. Steve will have to catch the wild life with our cell phones. Karen is still keeping up with her jump roping and of course, we dance. Sending huge hugs and kisses to our subscribers!!!! El norte del Mar de Cortés nos recibió con fondeaderos algo movidos, otro ataque de abejas y algunos de los mejores momentos que hemos vivido navegando por esta costa. Seguimos avanzando rumbo norte y encontramos lugares muy diferentes entre sí: zonas tranquilas, rincones poco conocidos y espacios donde tuvimos que adaptarnos un poco más. Las abejas volvieron a aparecer, aunque esta vez ya teníamos claro cómo manejarlo. Durante el camino pudimos disfrutar de delfines, tiburones, atardeceres que cambian cada día y noches de bioluminiscencia que siempre sorprenden.
