If you have owned an outboard powered day boat or sterndrive sports cruiser and you still want some speed but now require enough living space for day trips with between 8 - 12 people and overnights for up to 6 people then this Schaefer 450 is worthy of your attention. What stuck with me the most after around 8 hours driving her in both calm and quite windy conditions was the very neat construction of the hull. I like this hull for people who want to run up an inland waterway at speed with lots of wind and boat chop and also for those of you that desire a bit of coastal hopping of say 50 - 100NM at a time. For this purpose I see the Schaefer 450 providing you with a comfortable platform to travel on and a super nice floating home for when you arrive at your destination. Check her out and let me know what you think! [ KRAKEN YACHTS ] Make sure you check out Kraken's YouTube channel: @KrakenYachts And their website: https://krakenyachts.com/ Sailing around the world is risky and no matter how hard you try, you’re never going to completely eliminate that risk. But what if you could buy a boat that eliminated as much risk as humanly possible, without compromising comfort. Well then you’d be buying a very expensive boat Designing and building a Bluewater boat is always a compromise between three things; Seaworthiness, comfort, and affordability. For most of human history, Seaworthiness was by far the most important factor when choosing a boat for long distance voyaging. But today the vast majority of new “bluewater” boats are designed from the ground up, to be sold at boat shows. Seaworthiness is something that is not very marketable because green sailors find it hard to recognize at a glance. So boats that value seaworthiness struggle to compete when their interiors are smaller and their price tags are bigger, than all the other boats at the show. But there is one up and coming boat builder that refuses to even go to boat shows for one simple reason. Kraken yachts, lead by it’s founder, Dick Beaumont, have decided that they will stop at nothing to build the most seaworthy, and yet very comfortable, long distance blue water cruiser in the world. This week we had the chance to tour the Kraken yard here in Turkey as well as to do a full review of their flagship model, the Kraken 50. So what exactly do you get when you spend over a million dollars on a bluewater boat? And, the question that’s been in our minds ever since we did this tour, is it time for us to upgrade? For British fans there’s a real sense of optimism building down at the Port Vell in Barcelona with INEOS Britannia launching their new AC75 for the first time and getting the initial tow-test period and sail-fitting procedure underway on a very long day for the sailors and support team. In the water by 10.15am with the mast up and a swarm of technicians and sailors working diligently through the systems checks, INEOS Britannia was a hive of delighted activity throughout the morning, with a sense of anticipation that could almost be bottled. We are getting the boat prepared and ready to head out to sea cruising, but before we undo our lines and push off the docks, we are doing a rigging inspection. Today we are sending our captain, Sam, up the mast. We do a rig inspection every 6 months and today is inspection day. Sam is headed up and will be checking the rig for broken wires, stress cracks, and to make sure the the rigging is in good condition. ________________ Welcome to Sailing with the James's! A kicked-up south-westerly chop over a left-over northerly swell made for a tough and dynamic day on the Hauraki Gulf, where the sailors on ‘Taihoro’ - Emirates Team New Zealand’s stunning new AC75 – easily had the smoothest ride on the foils as everyone else tried to keep up. With the wind building to a top-end near 18 knots, it was another day, day ten (!) on the programme, of top-class training that is starting to ramp up into virtual race training. The Kiwis put in one heck of a shift today out on the Hauraki Gulf, a clear, undiminished signal of intent and sheer purpose as they pushed their box-fresh AC75 ‘Taihoro’ through almost every sail in the wardrobe. “One dream, one soul...one prize, one goal,” – the apt opening lyrics of Queen’s ‘A Kind of Magic’ and today in Barcelona it was NYYC American Magic that unveiled their third AC75 boat but keeping much mystery and intrigue to themselves. And rightly so, the boat is a beauty – a sculpted form whose almost scow-bow detailing would not look out of place at New York’s Guggenheim Museum setting off a super-powerful hull form with detailing aplenty. For Alinghi Red Bull Racing, the commissioning process goes on and whilst BoatOne has admirable take-off qualities in the light with its full-span foils and lighter overall build weight, the team were struggling through the tacks and gybes to keep that flight. The bow-down tendency was again ever-present, and the tight-rope walk of end-plating for best aero effect against keeping the bow from shipping over waves and spray was very much in evidence. Early days for sure and with the Flight Controllers perhaps controlling both trim and ride height, the team are very much learning all over again on this new generation AC75. Terry Hutchinson, the Director of Sailing operations at NYYC American Magic spoke to the recon team after sailing and is clearly pleased with how the sailing team has developed over the recent weeks, saying: “We’ve had a really productive two months, this training block has been focused on racing development and our sailing team development and understanding moves and countermoves and working on the choreography on the boat between the helmsman and the trimmers and flight control and yeah in that regards it's been about as productive a training session as we could have possibly had. Barcelona has delivered champagne sailing really since February...the conditions through the first quarter of the year have been spectacular.” SUBSCRIBE to the official America's Cup channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/americascup Like America’s Cup On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/americascup Stay up to date with the America’s Cup newsletter: https://www.americascup.com/en/newsletter The 37th America's Cup will be Defended in Barcelona by four-time America's Cup winner, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron represented by their team, Emirates Team New Zealand. #AmericasCup #AC37 #Barcelona2024

As the locals celebrated shoreside with the tradition of books and roses to celebrate the ‘Diada de Sant Jordi’ or St George’s Day, out on the beautiful waters of Barcelona it was a building breeze through the day that saw the Swiss, Americans and French all training hard. For Alinghi Red Bull Racing, the technique improvements are coming thick and fast with the team beginning to build confidence in their radically-designed platform. It’s early days but this young, hard-charging Swiss team have proved over the previous two years that they are the fastest learners with an eagerness to hit peak performance. That will come in time, but BoatOne looked a different boat today, standing on its foils in just 7-8 knots of breeze and using all the leverage of the windward cant arm as the breeze topped out at around 14 knots late on. “Fresh to frightening” was how the recon team described Monday’s session for Emirates Team New Zealand as they took the chance to push Taihoro in very top-end conditions that saw speeds rocket and the loadings increase exponentially. Demonstration sailing from the Defenders of the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup, this was a statement of intent as well as a vital commissioning day that tested the AC75 to its outer limits. #AC37Recon Report https://shorturl.at/aijoD SUBSCRIBE to the official America's Cup channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/americascup Like America’s Cup On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/americascup Stay up to date with the America’s Cup newsletter: https://www.americascup.com/en/newsletter The 37th America's Cup will be Defended in Barcelona by four-time America's Cup winner, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron represented by their team, Emirates Team New Zealand. #AmericasCup #AC37 #Barcelona2024

After the disappointment of the session on Saturday being curtailed by a small technical issue, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli docked-out their achingly beautiful AC75 into near-perfect conditions for a Sunday commissioning sail of the highest order. Bristling with power, poise and real stability despite the legacy appendages, Jimmy Spithill and Francesco Bruni (later swapped out with Marco Gradoni), ramped up the intensity and began releasing the boat’s potential. For Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, it was an early dock-out in Sardinia as the team hoped to catch some early morning light airs to begin working up the new boat and getting through the commissioning phase. However, Mother Nature had other plans and the mistral blew up quicker than expected and caused the team to drop down to the small J4 headsail. A very short foiling run was abruptly brought to an end after less than a minute after the Italians broke a component onboard that created a ‘snowball of problems’ according to Francesco Bruni, helmsman as he said: “Today we were fighting a little bit with the weather, we knew that the breeze was going to come up, it came in a little bit earlier than what we were expecting, and we had an early morning to go out and catch the early lighter breeze, but the breeze came in earlier. But we were pretty happy with what we had, we hoisted the very small jib, the J4, and were hoping to have some good sailing, unfortunately we broke a little piece of the boat that created a snowball of problems and we had to stop the day to fix it for tomorrow but that's life, we knew that when you are commissioning a new boat you have to you have to deal with those things.” SUBSCRIBE to the official America's Cup channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/americascup Like America’s Cup On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/americascup Stay up to date with the America’s Cup newsletter: https://www.americascup.com/en/newsletter The 37th America's Cup will be Defended in Barcelona by four-time America's Cup winner, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron represented by their team, Emirates Team New Zealand. #AmericasCup #AC37 #Barcelona2024
Blue skies, flat water, temperate air and a light breeze that barely registered above 8 knots made Saturday afternoon in Barcelona a tricky prospect for Alinghi Red Bull Racing’s continued commissioning of BoatOne. In conditions that would have been un-sailable in 'BoatZero', they made the best of it in the AC75 they’ve internally nicknamed as the ‘Batmobile’ that certainly appears to have all the firepower of its comic creation. #AC37Recon Report https://shorturl.at/eiB29 SUBSCRIBE to the official America's Cup channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/americascup Like America’s Cup On Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/americascup Follow America’s Cup On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/americascup Stay up to date with the America’s Cup newsletter: https://www.americascup.com/en/newsletter The 37th America's Cup will be Defended in Barcelona by four-time America's Cup winner, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron represented by their team, Emirates Team New Zealand. #AmericasCup #AC37 #Barcelona2024
INEOS Britannia, the British Challenger of Record representing Royal Yacht Squadron Ltd for the 37th America’s Cup, has revealed its AC75 race boat for the very first time. The 75ft vessel, code-named RB3, emerged from the INEOS Britannia base in Barcelona on Saturday 20th April for rig stepping and checking in preparation for her first sail. It was the first time the race boat had been in public view after two-and-a-half years of design, build and fit-out. In this video we pick up after having spent some time in Santa Barbara, and doing another trip to Santa Cruz Island. On our way back we made awesome time, doing the 21-mile trip in a little over 2.5 hours, and surrounded by excited dolphin for large chunks of time. After spending some time in SB, we found a weather window to go up to start harbor-hopping up the coast, back home to San Francisco Bay. In advance of that weather window opening up, we staged ourselves at Cojo anchorage just inside of Pt. Conception. From there, we rounded the point and next spent a couple days at Sansimion - our favorite anchorage so far on the California coast. That's where I end this video. Our final two legs to Monterey and then San Francisco will come later. We hope you enjoy!

Do you want to see more sail boats on this channel? Let me know if you enjoy sailing too, or should I start a second channel just for sailing..? I think the Jeanneau 350 Sun odyssey is a mass market yacht that will appeal to the mass market (surprise, Surprise 😅). But seriously it has some excellent design ideas from a sailing perspective to social ans living aboard. Sailing has always been a strong point for Jeanneau and this shows in the 350 Sun Odyssey.
