A Snowball of Problems in Sardinia | April 20th | America's Cup

For Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, it was an early dock-out in Sardinia as the team hoped to catch some early morning light airs to begin working up the new boat and getting through the commissioning phase. However, Mother Nature had other plans and the mistral blew up quicker than expected and caused the team to drop down to the small J4 headsail. A very short foiling run was abruptly brought to an end after less than a minute after the Italians broke a component onboard that created a ‘snowball of problems’ according to Francesco Bruni, helmsman as he said: “Today we were fighting a little bit with the weather, we knew that the breeze was going to come up, it came in a little bit earlier than what we were expecting, and we had an early morning to go out and catch the early lighter breeze, but the breeze came in earlier.
