The Graveyard of the Pacific has claimed thousands of lives over the years. In 1906, the SS Valencia, sailing with the Pacific Coast Steamship Company, ran aground off the coast of Vancouver Island. She couldn’t have found a worse area to wreck. The violent waves and rocky cliffs that line the coastline made it nearly impossible for her passengers and crew to make it to the shore only a few meters away. The failed attempts to rescue those who clung to the wreck for 40 hours still haunt the area to this day. This video is a remake with updated voice over and some updated video and images. This job was bigger then we thought. But we need to get it done before we can move ___________________________ Our prior boat - If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. If you're interested, let us know... we are very open to discuss any reasonable offers. ⚓️ Subscribe for more real-life real-time sailing adventures! 👍 Like the video if you love sailing! In Episode 65 of the Sailing Goat Series, we finally arrive in Athens and enter the prestigious ZEA Marina in Piraeus. This is one of the busiest and most luxurious marinas in the country—packed with multi-million dollar yachts—and we’re a tiny floating home sliding in between them, stern-first! With nerves of steel (and a bit of luck), we nailed the docking maneuver without a scratch, which is great because, honestly… our insurance probably wouldn’t have covered a collision with a superyacht 😅 We came to Athens with the intention of replacing our lost solar panels, but that mission will wait for now. This week is about soaking up the culture, history, and ancient energy of the Greek capital. We head into the heart of the city to explore the Acropolis, Plaka, and the old town—walking through ruins and alleyways steeped in thousands of years of stories. ⚓ Mooring Among Million-Dollar Yachts: Stern-to docking in ZEA Marina is no joke—tight spaces, big money all around. But we made it in smoothly, and we’re proud of the seamanship that got us there. 🏛️ Exploring Athens: We visit the Acropolis, climb up to the Parthenon, wander the streets of Plaka, and dive into the rich history of one of the world’s oldest cities. 🔋 Solar Panels Can Wait: While we came to Athens to fix our solar situation after losing them in Trizonia, this week is all about taking a breath and being tourists. 📍 This Episode Includes: Docking in ZEA Marina, Piraeus Maneuvering among superyachts Exploring ancient Athens Visiting the Acropolis & old town Soaking in a much-needed city break 💬 Join the Conversation: Have you docked in a high-pressure marina or visited Athens by boat? Share your stories and tips in the comments below—we’d love to hear from you! 👍 If you love a good docking win and city exploration from the deck of a sailboat, give this video a thumbs up, share it with fellow sailors, and subscribe to the Sailing Goat Series for more adventures. 🔗 Connect with Sailing Goat: Instagram: @nobodysride Instagram: @sailing_svgoat 📌 Hashtags: #SailingGoat #ZEAMarina #SailingAthens #DockingWin #AcropolisAdventure #LiveaboardLife #SailingGreece #BoatLifeInTheCity ⛵ Join us as we park among giants, walk among ruins, and take in the magic of Athens—one ancient step at a time. Before leaving the dock with guests, make sure to watch this video on the ONE THING you MUST do for boating safety. Stay prepared with a predeparture brief and know your emergency equipment aboard! Captain Sarah Lawrence of Chesapeake Boating Academy and TowBoatUS Knapps Narrows and Kent Narrows goes through the predeparture safety brief she gives her students and boating guests before she leaves the dock. We have a big job and a big lift to get done. The only problem is we don't have the right stuff. Waiting for yard staff was taking to long so we did it without them. Lots of new stuff happened this week, We are getting closer every day! Soft shackle video we used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0eZz36PRYI ___________________________ Our prior boat - If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades.
