The Royal Thames Yacht Club traces its origin to 1775, when Prince Henry, Duke of Cumberland and brother to King George III, founded a sailing society along the River Thames. That year, he presented the first of seven silver cups to be raced for from Westminster Bridge to Putney Bridge and back. Now, in 2025, the club is celebrating its 250th Anniversary with a Regatta in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, featuring prestigious events such as the IRC National Championship, the J/70 class Nationals and the RS Elite class Nationals, as well as racing for other classics, cruisers, dayboats and sportsboats. On Friday I spoke to Tom Partridge, Rear Commodore Sailing at the Royal Thames Yacht Club, J70 sailor and Royal Thames Yacht Club member Ben Clothier, who has fashioned a unique memento for the anniversary event, and Ben Vines, who is crewing on Adam Gosling’s yacht Yes!, the defending champions in the IRC Championship. Daily reports are on www.sail-world.com and www.yachtsandyachting.com with link to the event website. Thumbnail photo (c) Paul Wyeth #sailing #yachting #anniversary

The weather gods once again were not shining on me for the Jeanneau 350 Sun Odyssey after our first test sail in no wind last year in France we again had very little wind in Sydney! But we did have SOME wind so we did our best in this video to discuss the performance and sail options for you on the Jeanneau 350 Sun Odyssey which has superceeded the 349 Sun Odyssey. In the second video we do a deep dive into the layout of the yacht so you can decide if this is a design that will suit your boat life or not. The Yachtmaster Insurance Three Rivers Race at Horning Sailing Club is an iconic event for many reasons. Held on the Norfolk Broads in England, this 24-hour challenge takes in a 50-mile course, and this year saw the 64th running of the event with 108 boats taking part, ranging from River Cruisers to Wayfarers, and many boats in-between such as Norfolk Punts. There are strong tides and currents, as well as tree-lined banks to contend with, but the most unique scenes are at the bridges, where the sailors have to drop their masts and row underneath, often leaving it to the very last minute. With thanks to video by Holly Hancock, Robert Hancock, Martin Bulldeath, Chris Mayo and Shirley Needham we’ve put together this compilation of some of the bridge moments in this year’s race. You can read Holly Hancock's full report of the race at https://www.yachtsandyachting.com/news/286651/64th-Yachtmaster-Three-Rivers-Race Thumbnail photo by Holly Hancock

Possibly the coolest boat to feature on the channel! The SAY 52 by SAY Carbon Yachts is a work of art. Carbon construction, Petestep hull design and just one of the coolest boats you can imagine driving. But compared to the SAY 42 which we have already featured on the channel this new model is much more practical in some respects and she's a lot more useable for the luxury day boater. As the sun goes down, we take the dinghy ashore for a nighttime walk to search for island wildlife and see what this coral cay is like after dark. In Episode 67 of the Sailing Goat Series, we say goodbye to Athens and begin heading southwest, setting course for the charming island of Aegina. We drop anchor in a secluded little paradise called Moni Eginas Beach, a peaceful bay that gifted us two very different nights at anchor. 🛶 Night 1: Pure magic—alone under a sky full of stars, with nothing but the gentle water and nature around us. 🚤 Night 2: Enter the charter crews—suddenly surrounded by weekend warriors doing what they do best: "charter stuff." From creative anchoring techniques to deckside karaoke, it’s always a spectacle (and honestly, kind of fun to watch from a safe distance). 🛠️ Boat Nerd Time – Signal K Upgrade: While enjoying the downtime, I took the opportunity to level up my boat’s data and monitoring system. I built the next stage of my SignalK + KIP system by adding a Raspberry Pi server that now: Stores historical data Automatically generates digital logbooks Builds real-time dashboards for system progression and diagnostics Yes, it's a little geeky—but it’s also a big step toward fully automating and tracking our boat’s performance in a smart and meaningful way. 📍 This Episode Includes: Sailing Athens ➜ Aegina Solo anchorage at Moni Eginas Beach Full moon, clear skies, and pure peace Charter boats crash the party New Raspberry Pi + SignalK log system build 💬 Join the Conversation: Have you built your own boat automation setup? With so much stuff to buy it's easy to get ripped off. So how do you return something to another country that is 240kg? ___________________________ Our prior boat - If you are interested in buying our previous boat, Supernova, a beautiful fully kitted out Prout Quasar 50, please send us an email at: sailingsupernova@gmail.com Supernova has tons of upgrades. 4kw solar, 2600 AH of lifpo4 lithium batteries. Full electric galley, watermaker, 2 years new electronics including auto pilot, radar and 16 inch chartplotter. Custom dinghy lift where you can leave the engine on (comes with 10.5 rib with almost new 20hp motor), new mainsail and jib, 14 foot by 7 foot custom hard top, dive compressor, two electric toilets with 2x 100 litre blackwater tank, put in 3 new fridge/freezer units, new prop shafts, 8 new underwater lights. We took the bottom down to gel-coat and put 6 layers of barrier coat on before new bottom paint (that was 3 years ago) and we replaced every through hull. We installed two new prop shafts and aquadrives. It has 4 staterooms, one oversized queen bed, one queen bed and to double beds with 4 heads but we are using 2 heads as just storage. You can live remote on this boat for months and months without needing to resupply (3 fridge/freezers, crazy amount of solar and giant lithium batteries etc). It still needs some cosmetic work inside and a couple of things here and there, but could cross oceans right now as is. We love this boat but we are aware we aren't going to get back anywhere near the money we put into her. Slow Living on the Farm. How we make homemade feta cheese, chevre, yoghurt, ricotta and kefir from our dairy goats. Join Pascale this week as she milks her goats and shares 5 delicious fermented goat milk products they make on the homestead. Quick and easy to make these recipes are great additions to your repertoire if you’re a dairy goat owner or thinking of keeping a dairy goat in the future. She covers how she makes a basic feta, chevre, yoghurt, ricotta and kefir out of her fresh raw goat’s milk. #dairygoats #homemade #goatmilk #homesteading Chapters 00:00 Introduction 02:06 Feta and yoghurt 09:07 Ricotta 10:25 Yoghurt (continued) 12:13 Chevre 19:02 Kefir 22:26 Feta (continued) Goat milk recipes Feta and ricotta As discussed in the video I use the recipes from Molly Nolte’s Fias Co farm website. Feta: https://fiascofarm.com/dairy/feta.html Ricotta: https://fiascofarm.com/dairy/ricotta.html Yoghurt Ingredients 1 – 5L Raw goat/cow milk ½ teaspoon DVI yoghurt cultures or ¼ cup live active yoghurt (you’ll need more if you have a larger quantity of milk) You can do this recipe with any amount of milk. You just need a way to maintain your cultured milk as close to 40°C to 45°C (104°F – 113°F) for a period of at least 10 hours. Heat your milk to simmering roughly 90°C (194°F) and leave for 5 to 10 minutes like this stirring occasionally to prevent the milk burning on the bottom. Turn off heat and allow to cool to 45°C. You can speed this process up by vigorously stirring your saucepan of hot milk in a cold water bath in the sink. Once the milk has cooled to 45°C add your cultures or live yoghurt and stir through well for 20 or so seconds with a sterilised spoon. Place somewhere very still to keep temperature for 10 to 12 hours. I use our dehydrator set at 45°C. Once finished incubating place the yogurt pot in the fridge for 24 hours to cool and further set. You can then put into jars for eating, or like we do, you can strain it over cheesecloth for a further 12 hours to remove most of the whey. This will give you a rich, thick and creamy yoghurt. Chevre Ingredients 2L (1/2 gallon) warm raw filtered goat’s milk (22°C – 30°C or 72°F – 86F) 1/8 teaspoon (or a sprinkle) of Chevre cheese cultures ½ drop Rennet diluted in water. I measure 8 tablespoons of water in a jar and then add 4 drops of rennet. Place the cultures and diluted rennet into the warm milk and stir well for 20 seconds to incorporate. Leave in a warm place to incubate for anywhere between 12 and 48 hours. When ready, strain the curds through cheesecloth overnight. Turn out into a bowl and stir through salt to taste. At this stage your chevre is ready as is but you can season or marinate it however you like for additional flavours. For example you can toll it into logs and coat with ash, dill or chives or you can place it in a jar with herbs such as thyme, gallic and peppercorns. Kefir (with DVI cultures) Ingredients 1L (1/4 gallon) bottle of warm goat milk 1/8 teaspoon DVI kefir cultures Using a sterilised spoon stir through your cultures into the milk in the bottle. Leave with the lid off with a piece of cheese cloth over the top to breathe in a warm room around 22°C for 24 hours or longer. Once soured and thickened to your liking put the lid on the bottle and store in the fridge until ready to drink. Support us and gain early access to videos and other exclusive rewards. As SailGP resumes in New York this weekend, we ask the question of whether the F50's solid wingsails should be ditched and replaced instead with twin-skin mainsails, in a similar way to what is used on the AC75 and AC40 of the America's Cup. This is not a boat for everyone but for the lucky few who get to enjoy this machine your life will be better for it. Enjoy! In this episode, we sail our home to Puerto Rico and get a full dose of adventure. From rowing ashore without a motor, taking a ferry to check in with customs, to pulling a new dinghy engine through town in a red wagon (shoutout to our MVP wagon), it was nonstop action. We stock up at Walmart, hit up Costco, and explore beautiful San Juan. Mostly from the comfort of our car (because parking is wild and the sun was hotter than our engine). Then the real magic happens. We chase the famous *bioluminescent bay* on the island of Vieques. Our first attempt? Lights, tourists, and disappointment. But at 3AM, we return and it's unforgettable. 👣 Follow our family of five as we sail full-time, explore new cultures, and live life one anchorage at a time. ⚓ Subscribe and join our crew for the ride!

Step aboard one seriously impressive 37-metre superyacht in this walk-through tour that had us picking our jaws up off the deck 😲. From the moment we spot her—painted in a bold grey that gives battleship vibes—we know this is no ordinary boat. She’s sleek, modern, and packed with design flourishes that make her feel more like a floating hotel than a yacht. Inside, we explore the vast master cabin, stylish bathrooms, and enough bedrooms to host 12 guests across eight cabins. But it’s not just the size that stuns—it’s the layout, the finish, and thoughtful features like a gym (a rarity at sea!) and even an internal railway system in the hull to move luggage with ease. Yes, really. Up at the bridge, it’s all cutting-edge marine tech with dual wing controls, bow views, and intuitive navigation systems. Everything about this yacht speaks to luxury and innovation... €17.5 million of it, to be precise. We finish the tour dreaming about how we’d moor her (and how many pontoons we’d have to shift to make room 😅). But for now, come along with us and soak up the design of this absolute stunner.

Are we witnessing the future of sailing? In this video, we step aboard the revolutionary MODX 70, a fully electric luxury catamaran that ditches traditional sails in favor of two automated inflatable wings. We break down how these Aeroforce wing-sails work, what sets them apart from classic rigs, and why they might just change sailing forever. Sails that inflate, rotate 360°, and trim themselves at the push of a button? Sounds like sci-fi, but they’re already cruising for real. If you're passionate about cutting-edge sailing tech, this one's for you. 🌬️ Imagine sailing with no sheets, no noise, and zero emissions... 👇 Drop your thoughts in the comments — could this system replace traditional sails?
In Episode 66 of the Sailing Goat Series, we spend another day soaking in Athens, and we have to admit—it’s really growing on us. From ancient monuments to modern rooftops, this city has a unique vibe that’s hard not to love. We kick off the day by visiting the Greek Parliament just in time to witness the changing of the guard, a ceremony filled with tradition and precision. After that, it’s back to boat business—replacing the solar panels we lost in Trizonia. Thankfully, we finally found suitable replacements in the city, and with the help of our awesome neighbor from the sailboat next door, we were able to retrieve and install them. This time, we didn’t mess around—we used a ridiculous number of bolts to make sure these panels aren’t going anywhere, no matter how hard the Aegean blows! With the job done, we treated ourselves to some museum visits, soaked in the local culture, and topped it all off with a delicious rooftop sushi dinner overlooking Athens. ⚡ Solar Panels Reinstalled (for Good This Time): After losing our panels to a brutal gust in Trizonia, we finally replace them—and over-engineer the install to ensure they’ll never fly away again. 🇬🇷 Changing of the Guard: We catch the ceremonial event in front of the Greek Parliament, a proud and precise display of national tradition. 🖼️ Museums & Culture: Athens continues to impress with its mix of ancient history and modern energy. I'm Daniel aka "Adventureman Dan." I've been living on the edge, from one adventure to another for the past nine years. Starting in Central California with my first GoPro, through to SoCal, Baja, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Alaska and throughout the whole USA. But for the past five years now, I've been on my 37' sailboat "Adventureborne". Which has opened my life up to unlimited possibilities of where I can go, and what I can do!
