Finally there are no more excuses to postpone my departure...the weather is looking rather ok and it is time to lift the anchor...What a lovely first solo overnight trip, 200nm with a 2-3m waves and 15-20 knots of wind. Feeling a bit like a sailor...Thank you, KARL! Visit www.whitespotpirates.com for more info about KARL, the journey or people I met during my trip. --- This is NOT a live documentary! There is a time difference between filming and publishing due to the time it takes to edit and to internet not always being awailable on those little remote palm tree islands :). Vou repetir: "A remo!" #amyrklink #klink

Harken's line of classic wooden blocks combine elegant craftsmanship and cutting edge engineering. Learn how Harken worked with the legendary racing yacht Dorade to develop a custom solution that strikes the right balance between old and new. After Olin and Rod Stephens’ grandfather sold the family coal business in 1929, their father, Roderick Stephens Sr., commissioned S&S design Number 7, a 52-foot yawl, which became Dorade. Dorade was designed late in 1929 by Olin Stephens and was launched from the Minneford Yacht Yard in May of 1930. Dorade’s history of significant success continues today under owner Matt Brooks.

The biennial Rolex Fastnet Race, celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, has been an established fixture on the ocean racing circuit since 1925. The 603-nautical mile race is a test of strategy and skill with challenging tidal currents and changeable weather. The fleet starts off the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, races out of the Solent and across the often tempestuous Celtic Sea to the Fastnet Rock, before returning on a reciprocal course to the finish off Plymouth. This year marks the 46th edition of this international classic organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club. The race will be held from 16-21 August.

In offshore racing, very often we know the stories of the sea or the biographies of the sailors setting off the races, but very little about the background to the teams hidden behind the performances. Construction, research and development, optimisation, training sessions, competitions, as well as team spirit the Gitana Team opens its doors. In January 2015, The racing stable founded by Baron Benjamin de Rothschild announced it’d return to the great planetary adventure that is the Vendée Globe, the focus of which was the creation of a new boat in line with the aims of Sebastien Josse ans the Gitana Team. After severals months build phase at the Multiplast yard in Vannes, the Mono60 Edmond de Rothschild hit the water for the first time. The Vendée Globe is a sailing race around the world and nonstop singlehanded. Skipper sails around the world from west to east via the three major capes of Good Hope, Leeuwin and the Horn. There is a long slide down the Atlantic, the perilous voyage across the Southern Ocean with firstly the Indian Ocean and its crossed seas, then the Pacific Ocean, the world’s biggest ocean. Finally, there is the climb back up the Atlantic to head back to Les Sables d’Olonne, which marks the start and finish of the Everest of the seas. We take a look at each section of the round the world race course...

Malibu Rapids lie at the entrance to Princess Louisa inlet, one of the most dramatic in British Columbia. It should only be passed at slack water. This video shows us passing through at high slack (easier than low slack) on our Skoota 28 power catamaran. At maximum the current runs at 7 knots and generates large standing waves. Always announce your passage on VHF16 as it is a blind channel and boats cannot safely pass each other.
