http://sailing-phuket.com This video was taken during only 2 dives at Hin Muang a great dive site south of Phuket in April 2014. The visibility was not very good as there was a lot of plankton in the water which is the reason why the Manta's go there to feed. We often see Manta Rays there when diving or snorkelling but we never have seen as many as this time. It was a kind of hard to film as there were just too many of them at the same time. After realising that they are hanging around Dieter decided to enter the water to get some underwater footage of these great mammals. Obviously they were not hungry at the time so Dieter made it back on board with some great shots. All together we have been filming with 4 different cameras and this is the result. Enjoy! The weather was calm and we could tie SY Nakamal up to the mooring buoy at Hin Muang Pinnacle. We first dived at Hin Deng, the pinnacle just next to hin Muang and had a close encounter with a very large Manta Ray. Unfortunately I did not take my camera on that dive. Just back on our sailing yacht SY Nakamal, we saw another Manta Ray passing under the yacht. http://sailing-phuket.com/ - While we where on a dive and sail adventure in Chagos I had a rather scary encounter. On the way up from a deep dive I got bitten by a Moray Eel!! I had to do a 14 minute decompression stop which turned out to be quite exiting. I felt like being on the menu for plenty of sharks I had to fend off. This was not what we regularly encounter on our yacht charter cruises and I sure will be more careful in the future!
