Since the first attempts in the winter of 1993, the crewed round the world record has attracted a lot of interest. Far from being over, it already has a rich history. By taking part in his first crewed record attempt, Francis Joyon could well write a new chapter in this saga… After a fantastic race, Peyron won the tenth edition of the Route du Rhum with a time of 7 days, 15 hours 8 minutes and 32 seconds – a new race record! Spindrift is in the middle of the Atlantic approaching the Azores, ans they are going to sail through a corridor of wind ans sea optimal conditions. To undertake the crewed around-the-world record is as much about the human adventure as it is a technical and sporting challenge. The men and women working alongside Dona Bertarelli and Yann Guichard at Spindrift racing have been preparing this race against the clock for almost three years. The target: to sail around the world in less than 45 days, 13 hours and 42 minutes. The tough record they will try to beat was set by Loïck Peyron and his crew in 2012 on Banque Populaire V, which was renamed Spindrift 2 a year later. Geoff Waller of www.boatson.tv talks exclusively to North Sails' Michael Coxon on what happened in the recent disastrous 2015 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race when 31 yachts retired. Cocko talks sails, sail handling, asymmetric v symmetric sails, which boats should be using them, dagger-boards good and bad, reefing, what happened on the first night in the big wind change and much more. All boat owners and sailors should listen to his thoughts as seamanship is very important. He also gives insight into sailing on Sydney Harbour and how his local knowledge gave LOYAL the drop on the opposition by beating them out of the Harbour first. A complete review on the race which is not only enlightening but very informative for all sailors.

The city of BauBau and the regency has lots to offer to visitors. The BPO participants had a chance to taste great local food ( like the “parende” fih soup) as do interesting cultural and natural sightseeing. From weaving & sarong making to black pearl farming … from cultural village ceremonies to a tour of the Keraton fort. The group had a great conversation with the students of a local highschool about climate change. We were also welcomed by the city mayor, Drs Tamrin. Visited the Lacasa Cave and did some scuba in Lova Lova Cave. The local guides were great and this was one of the most memorable stopover of the Indonesian rally leg. This is the last week of work on the hard. Hurricane season is just about over and its time to go sailing.

We have added 3-inch ports to the ATV subwoofer box to reduce the port noise, but we have to wait for the silicone to dry before we can test it. The ports are only 6 inches long right now, this should be tuned at 66hz, but once I add the extensions It should be tuned at 44hz which should be great for rock. Port tuning is 55hz, per WinISD this thing should make some pretty good SPL. Right now 11dB gain, 0dB at 41hz and hitting 0dB again at 121hz with the crossover set at 120hz. Since the cone is also assembled onto the basket which can cause additional vibration, the independent structure of the spider holder helps minimize vibration coming from the cone. This improves playback response, sound outline, and provides high linearity. COOLING AND VENTILATION All fast moving parts and friction will create heat and too much heat creates unwanted audio results. The TS-W261D4 is designed with ventilation holes to improve air flow and release heat keeping the piston cool for better performance.

This is why you should not try to speed ahead to cut in-front of cars for a turn lane. Car in for big surprise. All caught on dash-cam.

Our 3 day sail to Los Roques from Grenada was a mighty good one. We kept each other entertained and made the most of our time at sea with no form of communication with the rest of the world for a few days, which we we hadn't had in a while. We arrived in Grande Roque, the main island of the bunch. We expected the island to be quite expensive after reading on the internet that it was. But we soon found out that it was exactly the opposite! Probably the cheapest place we have ever been so far! Stoked. We try and get the outboard fixed in the town but the language barrier makes it quite hard to explain the situation. Luckily some friendly dudes took it from us and handball it to a fisherman on another island to fix. He gets the job done, and we are free to go and explore the number of deserted islands in Los Roques!! Yeeehah.
