Martinique is such a beautiful island and offers plenty of anchorages. We enjoy the crystal clear water in Grand Anse d'Arlet and then sail up north to St. Pierre where it's a bit tricky to anchor. We find underwater statues and while snorkeling there's a ghosting lobster pot on the ocean floor that's full with beautiful fish! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. Talk about getting off the beaten path. Sailing our home through the San Blas for the past weeks and months has been an absolutely amazing cultural and breathtaking experience. There are picture perfect islands everywhere. The local Kuna indians, who control the land, have been able to maintain their way of life. It is so remote here that there is very little cell coverage and absolutely zero internet. In this episode we explore the vast sea life underwater, spearfish and interact with the local Kunas. It's time to get back to projects on the boat. Matt takes over the heavy duty end of things while putting together our fuel system. A task we've been waiting a long time to complete, and a huge weight off our shoulders now that it is done. My job was much simpler, sewing screen covers for all our ports and hatches. Made from Phifertex Vinyl Mesh, these screens will keep us shaded and much cooler inside, still allow visibility out, and should *hopefully* keep the Florida heat from penetrating into our plexi and causing any more crazing.
